Crash

"Bella, Bella? Are you okay? What's wrong?" Edward asked in a panicked tone. After a long death glare at the girl, Jane, he looked at me with soft, topaz eyes that melted. "Who's hurting you?" He asked with an angered tone. He looked back at Jane, continuing the death gaze at her. She looked at him with raised eyebrows that showed disbelief.

"It's too loud," I said, still covering my ears. He pulled me to him but looked at Carlisle with worried eyes.

"No one was too loud Bella. We are all being quiet, what are you talking about?" He hesitated, then, I heard his voice more clear then others, the velvety smooth chocolate in his voice came to me.

‘Bella, can you hear me?' That was a silly question. Of course I could hear him. Why would he ask something like that? Was there something wrong with me?

"Of course I can hear you Edward." I said to him with a confused voice. He looked at me surprised then understanding but everyone else was just confused. They were looking at us with disbelief, including the Volturi members. They just stared, looking intently at me.

I was becoming slightly uncomfortable and shifted from foot to foot. Edward seemed to notice and started to explain things to me and the family. And, of course, the others.

"Well, I see the problem," He paused and turned to everyone else, "Will you guys try to block your thoughts for a second? I need to test something." He said to everyone. They looked at him with alarmed faces but nodded and looked like they were concentrating. Edward looked me directly in the eyes and then the talking stopped. Relief flooded through me. The noise had toned down to a quiet humming that wasn't as annoying.

"How is it now Bella?" Edward asked me in a observing, soothing and hopeful voice. I looked at him and relaxed.

"Much better, it isn't loud anymore." I said in the calmest voice I never though possible. He nodded and everyone looked at me with a raised eyebrow. Aro's eyes were even more cheerful then before. He looked incredibly pleased yet amazed. Caius and Marcus copied his actions as well. Jane, Alec and the others stayed in their façade. Alice was really happy and bouncing up and down. Rosalie was smiling in a warm way. Jasper was a little confused. Esme and Carlisle looked amazed yet so proud and encouraging. Emmett looked immeasurably annoyed.

"Emmett, you look really annoyed. What's wrong?" I asked him. He smiled down at me and beamed his bright brilliant smile and the it turned into a slight frown.

"Well, I don't like having one mind reader in the house but now I have to have two, except one is way better with the power of mind control. This family is way better then cable. Why do we even pay for that if we have this family here? It's a waste of money." Emmett said. I looked at him in disbelief.

"Two mind readers?" I asked and everyone started to smile, including the rest of the Volturi, coming out of their little façade. What was going on?
