Chapter 11: Fall For You

I had just taken Bella home and was heading into the apartment I shared with Emmett and Jasper.

Emmett and Jasper had been my best friends since high school; they new me better than anyone else. They both moved here, to Port Angeles, for school while I stayed back home for a while.

And since these guys were my best friends, like brothers to me, you’d think I would have known what was coming when I walked through that apartment door.

Emmett was sitting on the couch, playing his video games like usual, “Hey Jasper, Eddie’s home!” he screamed into the other room.

Jasper came walking into the room, “Hey Edward. How was your date with Bella?”

I smiled, “It was… good,” I walked over to the chair in the living room and sat down.

Emmett started laughing, “Great vocabulary there Edward. And I thought you were the one going for the English major,” he looked at Jasper and smiled, “We know you have a great time whenever you’re with Bella; we can see it.”

Jasper sat down next to Emmett, “Yeah, you’re smiling. And it’s not one of those fake smiles you always have either; this is the real thing.”

He was right. I knew Bella make me smile; and I mean really smile. I enjoyed spending time with her, and I knew that. When I was away from her, I couldn’t help but feel like something was missing.

Emmett coughed, breaking me out of my thoughts, “Edward,” he looked serious all of a sudden, “What exactly are your intensions with Bella?”

I looked at him curiously, “What do you mean?”

Jasper laughed, “He means you’re relationship with Bella; what are you expecting to come of it?”

They were asking about my relationship with Bella. Did we even have a relationship? Or were we still on the ‘just friends’ step? I didn’t really know.

I coughed, “Umm, I’m not sure. I mean, yeah I like her; a lot. But what if she doesn’t feel the same about me?”

Emmett looked at me, “Honestly Edward, you are afraid she doesn’t like you? You KISSED her for God’s sake, and she obviously didn’t mind,” he chuckled, "Not to mention, you just got home from a DATE with her. Honestly, how much more do you need to know?”

“I’m sure you have nothing to worry about there. Anyone who is around you two could see that you both have strong feeling for each other,” Jasper assured me.

I smiled at the thought of Bella feeling the same about me as I did for her.

“He’s right; we can all see it between you guys,” Emmett looked at me seriously, “But if you EVER do anything to hurt her, I will personally hunt you down and rip your arms off.”

I had no doubt that he was telling the truth; he would be able to do exactly that to me. I had absolutely no plans to hurt Bella; I didn’t know how I could live with myself if I did.

Jasper looked me straight in the eyes, “And I’ll be around to help him if it comes to that. We’ve known Bella for a long time now, and she’s like our sister in a way. I know you wouldn’t purposely hurt her, but we’re warning you now,” he looked towards Emmett again, “Watch what you’re doing; we don’t ever want to see Bella get hurt.”

I sighed, “You don’t have to worry about that guys; I wont hurt her..”

I groaned, remembering my past relationships.

I had always had anger problems before, and in the past, I would take it out on everyone around me. I was always yelling at the people I cared about the most, and I hated myself for it. Every time I’d start a new relationship, things would go wrong; I’d always end up taking my anger out on whoever I was with, even though I knew they didn’t deserve it.

I had hurt plenty of people by my actions. After a one year relationship with a woman I thought I loved, I just lost it. One day, we were out, and I got angry over nothing in particular. I took everything out on her; I yelled and screamed, and I hurt her. I never forgave myself for what I did, because she never deserved any of it.

I’d been going to a few anger management classes. I was trying to control my anger; I didn’t want to hurt anyone else. I didn’t want to be a monster anymore, and I was trying to do anything I could to stop it. That’s why I didn’t move with Jasper and Emmett when they came to Port Angeles for school.

I couldn’t do that to Bella; I would not let it happen. She doesn’t deserve any of that, and I refused to let myself hurt her.

I sighed, “You guys know I would never intentionally hurt Bella..”

And that was the truth. I was going to try my hardest to keep my anger in check; I wasn’t going to hurt her. The truth was, she was the only thing that could keep my anger under control lately; she was my angel, and I was falling for her..

I woke up to a little pixie jumping up and down on my bed; she was always way too happy in the mornings.

I groaned, rolling over in my bed, “What do you want Alice?”

I asked, even though I knew why she was there.

She laughed, “Silly Bella, you know why I’m here,” she smiled wickedly, “How was your date with Edward? Tell me all about it!”

“Ohhh, tell us Bella!” Rose screamed, walking into my room.

I looked at Rose curiously, wondering how she even knew what we were talking about.

She laughed, “I was right outside the door when Alice asked about it. I saw her bouncing down the hallway, and I knew she was up to something, so I followed her,” she smiled, looking back at me again, “So Bella, tell us about last night. How was your date?”

It was only nine in the morning, and I was already under questioning.

I sighed, “Last night was.. perfect,” I couldn’t think of anything better to describe it as. It had been amazing, wonderful, beautiful, and fun; it was perfect. I didn’t know what else to say.

Unfortunately, they had other plans.

Alice sighed, “Come on, we know there is more to it than that.”

Rosalie smiled, “You know she’s right. You’re smiling just thinking about it; I mean, you are really smiling Bella. And I know for a fact that, that doesn’t happen very often; now spill.”

“I’m not going to lie; it was the best date I’ve eve been on,” I smiled, “Remember that night after bowling?”

They both nodded, but only Alice spoke, “That was the night he took you to the fountains and to the park to look at the stars.”

I bit my lip and nodded, “Yup. And he did it again last night; he took me to the same place. We danced at the fountains again, and laid under the stars,” I laughed, remembering the park, “Actually, I fell asleep under the stars,” I blushed, “Apparently, I was mumbling his name in my sleep.”

They both awed at that.

We were all curled up on my bed after a while, talking about my date with Edward. I told them about dancing at the fountains and the song he was humming to me. I told them about the restaurant, and how every women working there was flirting with him. They thought it was cute that he was only paying attention to me the entire time we were at the restaurant.

“The waitress even put her phone number on the back of his receipt! And he just stood there and tore it up in the parking lot,” I explained.

They were both laughing at that point. I hadn’t had this much fun with my best friends in a long time, and I was glad for it. I’d really missed spending time with them, but I knew they had their lives to live, and I wasn’t going to stop them from that.

It was almost like Alice knew what I was thinking, “Why don’t we all do something together this week?” she smiled and started bouncing on the bed.

Rose laughed, “What do you have in mind?”

“We can all get together; us three girls, and the three boys,” Alice had a huge smile on her face, “And I was thinking we could all hang out at the guys’ place. We could just play a bunch of games, watch movies, eat food, and just have fun hanging out together.”

I gave her a hug, “That sounds like a great idea; we haven’t done anything like that in a long time; I’ve missed it.”

Alice jumped up off the bed, “Perfect! I’m going to go call Jazz and let him know so we can get everything planned.”

She danced out of the room, leaving Rose and I laughing.

Rose got up off the bed, “That girl gets so excited over the smallest things. She’s crazy, but I don’t know what we’d do without her.”

I stood up, “I know exactly what you mean.”

Rose smiled, “You might want to get ready for the day before the pixie comes back in here,” she laughed, heading out the door, “See you in the living room.”

I quickly got dressed and headed into the living room. To my surprise, Alice was sitting on the couch talking to Rose; they were eating some of those Cinnamon Twists from Taco Bell.

I laughed, walking over to sit next to them, “Don’t you guys think it’s a little early to be eating Taco Bell food?”

They just looked at each other and started laughing, “Oh, it’s never too early for Taco Bell!” Alice was bouncing up and down in her seat again.

I shook my head, “You girls are ridiculous,” I smiled, “But I love you to death. Now give me some of those!” I reached over, trying to grab some out of Rose’s hands.

“No way Bella; these are mine!” Rose was trying to stop me from taking any.

I jumped over Alice to reach her, and we all fell to the ground. I got my Cinnamon Twists, and we just ended up sitting on the ground laughing about the whole thing.

Once we stopped laughing, Alice got serious, “So, Bella, tell me something,” I was a little scared seeing her this way. She rarely ever got this serious, and I didn’t even see it coming.

I looked at her, confused, “Tell you what?” I sat up on the floor, crossing my legs.

She looked to Rose, “Well, we know how you usually are.. with guys,” she paused, “And we were just wondering exactly what you were doing with Edward.”

I sighed, “Do we really have to go through this again?” I looked down at my feet, “I told you guys; I don’t plan on leaving this time. I know I’ve had problems with it in the past, but I really think it’s going to work this time.”

Rose looked me straight in the eyes, “We just don’t want you regretting it, if it happens again. And I know you would. We can see that it’s different this time; we’ve seen you guys when you’re around each other.”

I sighed. They were right. I’ve had problems with guys in the past, but this was a different story. I really liked Edward, and I had no intentions to leave any time soon.

Usually, if I was in a relationship, I wouldn’t let it last very long. It would go on for a couple of months, and then I would just end it. There really wasn’t ever a reason for it, I just never really dated the right guy before; they were never the kind of people I’d want to be with.

But with Edward, I knew this was different. I knew I wanted this to be more than that, and I had to admit that it scared me a little.

I bit my lip, “Don’t worry about it. This is different than the other times; I want this. I want him.”

They both smiled and pulled me into a hug.

Alice smiled at me, “I really believe it’s going to work with him; I can tell,” she tapped the side of her head with her index finger.

I rolled my eyes and laughed, “So, tell me about this night you have planned with the guys.”

Alice squealed, “This is going to be perfect. You guys aren’t doing anything Friday night, are you?”

Rose and I looked at each other, “Nope.”

Alice smiled, “Great! Everything is planned then; we’ll spend Friday night with the guys..”

Just the thought of seeing him again made my stomach do flips. I was definitely falling for Edward Masen.
