"So, this is your room"

"It's...big" I said. It was huge. A white room with one big bed in it.

"We didn't know what stuff you'd like so we didn't decorate it. Esme says when you're ready, you can go shopping and get some paints and furniture and stuff"

"Thanks Alice" I said.

"So, do you want to go get some stuff from your old house? I can drive you over there? It might make this place feel more homely if you have your own stuff"

"Umm...do you mind if I just sit here for a bit?" Alice nodded.

"Do you want me to stay, or go?"

"Is it okay if I'm alone for a bit?"

"Sure" she skipped off "Let me know if you need anything" I nodded and she left. I looked around my room. It was white. The bed I was sitting on looked old. It was a large, four-poster. The only things that looked like it wasn't part of the original design were the white silk curtains and the bedding. I stroked the soft sheets. I was so tired. I curled up in the middle of the huge bed and closed my eyes.

"Bella?" asked a quiet voice. I opened my eyes. It was Esme.

"Oh. I'm sorry! I just closed my eyes for a minute and I fell asleep"

"That's okay. Everyone needs sleep. I'm sorry to have disturbed you, but it's getting late and I wanted to see if you wanted any tea. I didn't realize you were asleep, otherwise I would have left you too it"

"Oh...sure...thanks" I said. She smiled and left. I got up. There was a pair of pyjamas at the end of my bed; Alice must have come in when I was asleep. I stretched and headed downstairs. Only Edward, Alice and Esme were in the kitchen. There was a plate of food in front of an empty chair.

"I didn't know what you'd like so I made a bit of everything"

"Thanks" I sat and started eating, a little of each thing. I was quite aware of the fact that all three of them were watching me. I felt incredibly self-conscious.

"It's delicious Esme, thank you"

"You're very welcome dear"

"Do you like your new room Bella?" asked Edward uncertainly.

"It's very big. You didn't need to go to any trouble"

"No trouble! I enjoy remodelling houses!"

"Yeah, but it's plain. I'm going to have to take you shopping soon Bella. You also need some new clothes," said Alice, excitedly.

"Alice, please try not to wear her down to soon. We want her in one piece for more then one day"

"You can talk you little..." she cut off and glanced at me. I looked back uncertainly.

"Like I said before Alice, drop that subject," Edward said, icily. They glared at each other and I felt my first stabs of fear. Then Alice started laughing. I looked at her, startled. Edward laughed too but it was strained.

"You'll have to forgive us. We keep to ourselves a lot so we don't notice human company much"

"That's okay" I said, relieved that they weren't arguing or glaring at each other any more.

"I think I'll go back to bed. We've got school tomorrow" I left the table, trying to quell my fear.

Was it me or had she put overdue emphasis on the word human?
