I settled in quite well at the Cullen's. They were friendly and incredibly helpful. I still hadn't gone back to the house to get my stuff but I knew I'd have to face it soon. Jacob was still ringing, often and it was getting annoying. I woke up on the first Saturday after I'd moved in and decided today was the day. I couldn't keep borrowing Alice's clothes (I hadn't gone on her suggested shopping trip yet either. Another thing I knew I wouldn't be able to put off much longer) and there was some stuff I wanted to get. I went downstairs and collected the breakfast that Esme had already made for me (I swear everyone in the house was psychic!).

"Esme?"

"Yes sweetie?"

"I'd like to go to my house" I said "To get some stuff" she smiled.

"Of course you can! I'll get one of the kids to drive you over. I wonder who's in?" she mused. I knew that half the Cullen's had gone for a hike.

"I'm here," said Emmett, popping his head round the door "and so is Jasper. The others left"

"Would one of you mind driving Bella over to her old house so she can pick up some stuff?"

"Well...Jasper and I were going to play guitar hero..."

"It's okay. I'll walk," I protested.

"Nonsense" said Esme "its miles away. One of the others can drive you. Right Emmett?" she gave him a look.

"I can put off guitar hero to help out my little sis!" said Emmett "Jasper! We're going out!"

"You don't both have to go," I muttered. They ignored me. Of course.

"Come on!" Said Emmett, enthusiastically dragging me to the car. Jasper was already inside. I'd felt a bit nervous around him. Unlike Emmett who always tried to involve me in stuff, Jasper stayed away from me. If we were in the same room, he often sat on the other side. Emmett drove fast (faster then Edward) and we reached the house very quickly.

"I'll be out in ten minutes tops," I said.

"Oh! Can't I come and see your house?" asked Emmett.

"Emmett" said Jasper, raising an eyebrow.

"Fine. I'll wait in the car. Spoilsport" he muttered the last part as I set off. I laughed at his tone. The Cullen's were just so...good. They'd cared for me when I had absolutely no connection to them and they were being incredibly nice. Emmett was really funny even though his size was daunting. Alice practically knocked me over with her enthusiasm. Edward...ah, Edward was different. Sometimes he seemed so warm and other times, cold as ice and so distant.

I sighed. I hadn't seen him in a week. Well, I'd seen him in class but he wasn't there at lunch and without him, I didn't feel right eating with the Cullen's. Alice had been chauffeuring me around and the others had driven with Edward. When I got home, he was holed up in his room and he didn't eat with me. Had I done something to offend him? Did he regret taking me in? I had tried not to be a burden and it wasn't like I'd asked him too. Oh god. Did the whole family despise me? Surely not!

I unlocked my door and hesitantly stepped into the house. My home. I went straight upstairs and opened my door. I found a suitcase and started thrusting my clothes in without paying much attention. A door slammed. I jumped, but didn't turn. I was too afraid to.

"Bella" said a voice.
