I woke up in the back of Edward's car. My head hurt and I felt dizzy and disorientated. I sat up and my eyes darted around.

"You awake at last? I was starting to worry you'd gone comatose" said a relaxed voice. I looked over to see Edward sitting in the front seat with a bowl of cereal in his hands.

"Have you been there all night?"

"No. I slept inside. I was planning on letting you sleep inside too...but you fell asleep on the way back and I didn't want to disturb you"

"Very kind" he handed me the cereal and a glass of orange juice that I hadn't realized he had.

"Now, we actually need to have a talk"

"What about?"

"Where are you going to stay? No matter how many times you run away, the social will still follow you and I'm sure your friend will too"

"So, you want me to turn myself in and be dumped in a care home?"

"No"

"But you just said..."

"I think you should come inside and meet my parents. They adopted us"

"So...?"

"You could live here" he said, staring right into my eyes.

"I wouldn't want to put you to any trouble"

"Well, I've already asked my parents. Carlisle came out to leave for work this morning and was curious about why there was an unconscious girl in the back of my car"

"I hope you didn't get any trouble"

"No. he was more amused then annoyed. So I asked him if you could stay, he said we needed to talk to you about it. So, I'm bringing you here after school. You can at least stay tonight"

"'Kay"

"You need to get ready. You can borrow some of Alice's clothes for today but you may want to hurry"

"Are all your family there?"

"yes, They‘re all home though it‘s quite late, but I wanted to wait for you to wake up before we left"

"Right"

"You're too tired to move? And you're nervous about having to see them? Fine, I'll go get some clothes from Alice" he walked off and I put my head in my hands. My life had changed so quickly! I'd gone from having two parents and two best friends, to having no parents and one old friend. I had a new friend and discovered that another old friend was a monster. It was so different! Edward reappeared and handed me a folded pile of clothes.

"I'll leave you to change, then I'll drive you to school" I gulped.

"Are...your family...are they...?"

"No. they're taking Rosalie's car and I'm driving you separately" I smiled and he turned away. I changed quickly. The outfit was a bit skimpy for my style but I put it on, grateful to be in a clean pair of clothes. I hadn't changed since La Push and my clothes felt horrible, particularly after the night in the forest with the acquired dirt. I got out of the back of the car and stretched. Edward reappeared and I sat in the front passenger seat.

"I picked up your cell phone," he said. He handed it to me and I scowled at the amount of missed calls from Jacob.

"Are you going to ring him back?" he asked.

"No" I said stubbornly "It's his fault. Do you think I should?" he didn't reply. I sat and thought until we reached school.
