Edward was sitting in his car waiting for me when I came out of school.

"Hey" I said. He smiled.

"You look nervous"

"I am"

"Don't be. Alice and Emmett clearly accepted you. There's only two people you need to be worried about. Jasper and Rosalie. Jasper doesn't like strangers but he'll adjust however...Rosalie doesn't like anybody much but don't worry"

"Hold on! Your parents haven't said yes yet!"

"They will I'm sure"

"How are you so confident?"

"It's a knack. Side effect of moving around a bit. You need learn how to adjust and fit in. It makes you confident"

"But you don't fit in"

"Well...I still learnt to be confident. And I adjust at least that's true"

"Okay" he drove quite quickly back to his house. Might soon be my home? It felt strange thinking that as we came into view of the large white house. He parked his car.

"Will your dad be home yet? It's quite early"

"He said he'd get off work early so he could meet you officially" he got out, came round, and opened my door for me.

"My pleasure" We walked up the steps to the porch. I hesitated outside the house.

"What do you think they'll do, bite you?"

"I know I'm being silly but I'm still scared"

"Relax" he fitted his cold hand in mine.

"I'll keep you safe," he said. Sincerity filled his voice. He didn't pull me into the house; just waited for me to move. We walked into the house.

"Hey! I'm home!"
"Hello Edward. We're all in the kitchen" called back a melodic female voice. He smiled at me and said,

"You don't have to go in there if you don't want too. We can find somewhere else for you to stay until you feel comfortable here. Or not at all. You don't have to stay here at all. Not if you don't want too" he sounded afraid. I didn't know what of.

"I'll go in. I want to be near someone I know. Besides, they're not going to bite me," I said, throwing one of his comments from earlier back at him. He didn't smile just looked like he was hiding something.

"Okay. Into the lion's den we go," he said. I squeezed his hand and marched into the kitchen.

"Hi" he said. He pulled out a chair for me and I gratefully sat down. I was worried I'd fall over.

"Hello. You must be Bella?" asked a woman. She had caramel curls and reminded me of my old child storybooks with pictures of princess.

"I'm Esme and this is Carlisle" a man with sleek blonde hair that looked like he'd spent all day running his hands through it. He practically glowed he was so handsome. The rest of the Cullen's I recognized and they were all seated in the kitchen too.

"So, Edward says that...your parents recently died?" asked Esme. I nodded. Tears welled up in my eyes as I thought about them.

"Oh sweetie. Don't worry about it" said Esme. She came over to me and wrapped an arm around me.

"You can stay here as long as you want Bella," said Carlisle.

"Thank you" I said through my tears.

"Alice, can you show Bella to her room? I'm going to talk to Edward," said Carlisle. I didn't want to let go of Edward but I did as Alice led me upstairs.
