That afternoon, Charlie was resting comfortably in hospital room - his surgery successful. Rebecca told me to go home and that she'd call when she was ready to come home. When I reached Charlie's house, there was an note on the door from Edward saying he took the kids to his parents. I quickly showered and changed and headed over there, where I was greeted by Esme and Carlisle.

"How's Charlie," Carlisle asked.

"Good. He had two blockages, which they were able to clear out."

"What a relief. He had all of us worried."

"Me too. But when he started cracking his jokes, I figured he was fine. Where are the kids?"

"Out back, but Masen's inside," Esme said.

"I take it he didn't like the fact that Edward was there this morning?"

"Not exactly," Carlisle said.

"What am I supposed to do?"

"Maybe Edward needs to go to a therapy appointment with him? That way the two of them could really talk things out," Esme said.

"Have you and Edward talked about what you're planning on doing? He mentioned that you two talked about the separation."

"We talked, yes, but nothing was decided. I was hoping to talk to him about it today."

"Well, just know that we support whatever decision the two of you make," Carlisle said.

Carlisle, Esme and I walked into the house where I found Masen.

"Mom! Can we go home now?"

“I promised Rebecca I'd pick her up later, so it'll be a while. Come outside with us."

"I'll stay here, thanks."

“Excuse me, you'll come outside. It's too nice to be inside today."

"Fine," he mumbled.

Outside, the kids were chasing Emmett and Jasper around the yard. Edward had Lilly in his arms while on the swing. It was a comforting site to see how the majority of my family seemed happy. But I wouldn't be complete until Masen felt the same - and that, unfortunately, will take a while. Once Edward saw me, he jumped up and walked over to me.

"How's Charlie?"

“Okay. Rebecca is with him."

"You look exhausted. Have you slept?"

"For maybe ten minutes, yeah. It's okay. I'll sleep after the drive home."

"you're not driving three hours back to Seattle with ten minutes of sleep."

"I don't have any other choice, Edward. I have to wait for Rebecca to call, pick her up, drop her at the house and then drive home."

"What are you going to do if she calls at eight? That means you won't even get to the freeway until 9:30. That's crazy. Go upstairs and rest. If she calls, I'll let you know."

Edward handed Lilly to Esme and walked with me upstairs. My mind was screaming at me to say what I've been needing to say, but it didn't feel right. Edward drew the shades while I sat on the edge of the bed and rubbed my eyes. I let out a hard sigh as he sat next to me.

"Long day for you."

"Very long day."

I kicked off my shoes and started rubbing my neck before my hands were replaced by Edward. His touch sent shivers down my spine - just like they did when we were in high school.

"Helping?"

"Very much so, thank you."

"Shoulders too?"

"How about we just talk for a minute?"

"Sure."

I turned and faced him.

"So after what happened with Charlie, I've come to a decision."

"About?"

"Everything. Do you have the separation papers handy?"

Edward leaned over the bed and pulled them from his side table and handed them to me. Once I had his attention back, I tore them up.

"What are you doing?"

"I'm giving you my answer. I don't want to move forward on the separation; I don't want you to live here anymore. I want you back at the house, back in my bed - our bed. I'm tired of all of this."

"Bella, are you sure? I'm willing to wait as long as you and the kids need."

“What we need is you at home," I was on the verge of tears, either from the lack of sleep or the relief of my own words.

"What about Masen?"

"He'll come around in time. Please, Edward. I..I need you. I'm so stressed out by everything that's going on. I'm tired of doing this all on my own, even though I did it to myself, really."

"Is that what you think?"

"I know I didn't do everything, but the separation and everything else, yeah."

"No, you didn't. If anyone should feel the stress and guilt it's me. I should have seen the warning signs - the headaches, mood swings, insomnia. But I didn't. I don't deserve to be forgiven."

"Edward, you do," I said as I placed my hand on his cheek. "Really? Could you have done anything to stop it? Medication, sure. But it still could have gotten just as bad. I can't hate you because of your tumor."

"But you hate me."

"I did at first. Even when everyone was telling me to take you back, that it wasn't really your fault. I still hated you - I hated what you caused the kids to become. But eventually, they started going back to the way they used to be; I started going back to the way I used to be. Seeing Charlie look at Rebecca, like he was never going to see her again, made me realize that I need you now more than ever. I just want my family, my life, and my husband back. Whatever issues we still have can be worked out. I forgive you, Edward and I want you home, as soon as possible."

Both of us were crying now. This was a conversation that needed to be had several times over, but didn't feel right until now. Edward leaned in and softly kissed my lips. My hands found their way around his neck and pulled him closer. His hands cupped my face as his kissed me deeper. Tears were still running down my face, but these were tears of relief. I no longer had his giant weight on my shoulders. That disappeared when I said 'I forgive you.' Edward broke our kiss and looked into my eyes.

"Bella..."

"Please Edward? I just need to know that you still love me."

"Bella, I've never stopped loving you. I can't. There's no one else on this Earth for me. Even after all of this, you're still the smartest, most beautiful woman alive. I love you Bella. I always have loved and I always will love you."

We made love then and with each touch, each kiss, each thrust and each moan, I knew he still love me. He made me feel so beautiful then - something I hadn't felt in a long time - something that I missed. When we were done, he held me close and I felt safe in his arms again. He was my Edward again - the man who knew me inside and out; who made me forget to breathe when he looked at me; who wanted nothing more than to see me and our children happy. This is the Edward that I had longed for and finally had again.

A week passed and Charlie was home and resting comfortably. Rebecca put him on a strict diet and even threw away his secret stash of junk food in his desk at work. he wasn't happy about it.

Esme received the news that her cancer had gone again, and everyone breathed a sigh of relief. After everything this family has gone through these past few years, I think we all would have fallen apart if something were to happen to her.

Edward moved back home a few days later, on his day off. Masen threw a fit, saying he didn't like the idea; that he was okay with being the 'Man of the House' and didn't feel comfortable with Edward there. He and Edward had a therapy session and it seems to be helping, somewhat. There's still tension, but it's not as thick as it once was. And neither of them will tell me what happened during their session, which leads me to believe a lot of yelling went on.

This morning, Emmett called in a panic saying Rose's water broke and that he couldn't find the number to her doctor. I quickly looked up the number online. This afternoon he called again and said we should come, as the baby's coming fast. We found our family in the waiting room of the Labor and Delivery floor of the hospital.

"Well this is weird," I said.

"What," Carlisle said.

"It's just that, this is the first time Edward and i are sitting here. usually we're in the room down the hall."

“You guys aren't going to have another one, are you," Alice asked.

"NO!" Edward and I both said at the same time, then burst into laughter.

An hour or so later, Emmett burst through the door.

"I'M A DAD!"

"Boy or girl," Alice asked.

"Boy! And he's fat too! And bald! Ten pounds! He's perfect!"

"How's Rose," I asked.

"Tired, but beautiful. Come on, you have to come and see!"

Emmett was gushing - the first and probably only time he would ever be like this. We went in and met the newest member of our family - Gabriel Evan McCarty. He was chubby and bald, just like Emmett said with Rose's eyes and lips and Emmett's cheeks.

Looking around at my family, I knew that no matter what obstacles came our way we would get through it together. And for that, I was incredibly thankful.
