Chapter 15 – Jake and Leah

Today is the first day of school of 11th grade. Then Edward, Alice, Jasper, Rosalie, and Emmett are enrolling with me. Edward, Alice and I are in 11th grade and Jasper, Rosalie, and Emmett are in 12th. Edward, as usual, drove me to school. I got out of the car and he wrinkled his nose up.

“What’s that smell?” He asked me. I shrugged my shoulders. I didn’t smell anything. When I saw Alice, she did the same thing. I had most of my classes with either Alice or Edward. Some classes I had with both. At lunch, I walked into the lunch room and followed Alice and Edward to a lunch table that Jasper and Emmett were already at. I was glad Rosalie wasn’t there. I really didn’t like her.

As I got to my seat, I glanced over at a table of noisy boys, and one girl, but she was as noisy as the boys. They were all really cute. One in particular, though, was really cute. He was darker, like a really, really good tan. He had huge muscles. He was almost as big as Emmett. He most have felt my stare, because he turned around and smiled at me. I blushed and smiled back. He winked and got up and walked over to the table we were sitting at. He wrinkled his nose a little but sat down next to me.

“Hi. Sweet thing. What’s Your name? I’m Jacob, but you can call me Jake.” He grinned and glanced around me. Then directed his eyes into mine. “I’m Bella.” I said, blushing and grinning like an idiot. He saw me blush and touched my cheek. His hand was soo hot.

"You look beautiful when you do that." Which, in turn, made me blush more. "Would you like to come sit by me with my friends. I was nodding before I realized what I was doing. As I got up, Jake took my tray, I glanced back at the Cullens. They all looked worried and angry. Rosalie looked even more hateful toward me. I turned back toward Jake and continued to walk. They were my brothers and sisters. Nothing more. They couldn't be, could they? I pushed it to the back of my mind. Jake got me a seat and I sat down.

"This is Seth and Leah, Quil, Embry, Paul, and that guy in the lunch line is Jared." He said. The only ones for certain I knew the names of were Jared and Leah. Seth, I think, grinned at me and I saw, or felt, Jakes leg kick Seth under the table. I smiled. They were like a big family. Seth tried to kick Jake back, but kicked me. I yelped and Edward was there in two seconds flat. He growled at Seth and Seth's eyes got big.

"Come on Bella. We're leaving." He growled as he lifted my tray.

"No." He stopped and every one at the table became silent and stared at me. Edward looked startled.

"What?" He asked softly. "

You are always bossing me around. You aren't my dad. Carlisle is." I resisted the urge to stick my tounge out at him. When I said that, I made him angry.

"Yeah, But I saved you. Did you think about that? Carlisle isn't your real dad. Why don't you tell your new FRIENDS about your life before you lived with my family." He said hastily and sat my tray down. That brought tears to my eyes. I didn't understand why Edward has been so mean. I looked back at him and he saw the tears in my eyes and his eyes got sad.

"What happened before you lived with the Cullen's?" Leah asked. I shook my head and got up. Edward started toward me and I ran out with tears running down my face.

When I busted out the door, I took off toward the woods.

"Buster!" I yelled. He didn't like to be inside without me, so I figured he would be some where around the place I was. I was right. He came running toward me. I sank to my knees and petted him. Buster licked up my tears.

"Bella!" Some one yelled.

"Heel." I told Buster and took off running. He stayed right by my side until I couldn't run anymore. We stopped in a forest clearing. There was a stream that ran through it. I walked over and Buster and I drank from it. I layed down in the soft grass and Buster licked up my newly developed tears. We stayed like that, ignoring the calls for me, until it was so late, the moon was directly above me. Buster stayed up when I fell asleep, keeping an eye for dangers. Someone showed up. Buster stood up and growled ferosiously. The person backed away.

"Can you call off the dog? I'm kinda afraid of dogs." I reconized the voice to be Leah's.

"Buster. Shhh." I told him and he quieted.

"I've been looking for you." She stated as she walked over to me.

"I don't know. You just seem like you could use a friend and I could use a girl friend and I figured, hey, I should go look for you. That blood-sucker really upsetted you. Didnt he?" I nodded. Wait, Blood-sucker.

"What do you mean by blood-sucker?"

"Ohh, come on. Don't act stupid. If you lived with them, you have to know they are vampires. Right?" I nodded reluctantly.

"So, what, or, why, did what he say upset you?" She asked sitting down next to me. Buster seemed uneasy about her, like he was with the Cullen's...

"He brought up my past. I'd really like to forget about it. But I can't. And Edward bringing it back up like that really stung." I said, my voice getting softer.

"Ohh." Was all she said. We sat in silence for awhile. "Well, You wouldn't still be out here if you weren't still mad. So if you're mad at them, I'm guessing, you don't want to go there tonight. Right?" I nodded.

"Well, do you want to... you know... sleep over at my house?" That was the first time I was ever asked to do anything with someone other than the Cullens.

"Yeah. That would be great." I said nodding. We jogged back to her house. Buster stayed on my left and Leah was on my right. She let me borrow some clothes. She was as tall as me so her jeans fit me in the length, but she was a little bigger in the waist. She was also bigger in the chest so her shirts were a little baggy. But I didn't complain. She slept on the ground and I slept on her bed. When Buster jumped up to be with me, she grumbled about the dog smell, but let him sleep with me. I slept restlistly, but I wasn't ready to wake up in the morning.

"Bella." Leah said softly. I gumbled. "Wake up, we'll be late." I just pushed my head under her pillow. "You asked for it." And I was dumped into the floor.

"Hmm?" I mumbled sleepily. She through some dark jeans at me and a light blue top.

"Here. They should fit almost perfectly. They were from last year and I didn't grow taller so... Put them on." She ordered. I sighed, and as I put them on, I wondered what I would say to the Cullen's when I saw them at school today...
