Selene and I turned to where we heard the noise. It was coming from a manhole about three feet from us. We looked at each other confused. Lykens didn’t usually live in manholes.
“I’ll go first.” She said then glanced at the Cullens. “They will follow you.” I nodded and gestured for them to come. Selene removed the cover and jumped in.
“You guys go first.” I said. “I’ll watch your back.” They all looked at me like I was insane. “I can take care of myself now.” Jasper jumped in followed by Alice. Rosalie stared at the hole with disgust.
“I can not believe this.” She moaned and jumped. Edward was last, though he still didn’t go.
“Let’s go.’’ I rushed him. He raised an eyebrow, but jumped anyway. Ten it was my turn. I landed in water, but it didn’t bother me since I had on leather boots. I could see Selene up ahead she was peaking around the corner at something. I walked up to her.
“Listen.” She whispered. She pointed over to another manhole, but this one had bars on it. There were growls coming from it. “It sounds like there are at least a dozen…maybe two.” I nodded.
“We should go we can’t take them alone.” She agreed. Logan rounded the corner as we started back up to the manhole.
“Where are the others?’’ Selene asked. He frowned. I sighed. They were gone. “Come on we need to get back to the mansion.”
They led us out of the subway all our clothes now dirty. Well, except theirs. Rosalie was complaining in that head of hers, Alice though wasn’t even worried about how she looked. She was too busy thinking about how wonderful it was to see Bella again. Not that I’m not happy, because I am. Very happy actually. Grateful even, but she seems different.
We stopped next to three silver Porches. Selene handed a pair of keys to Logan, and through the other pair at Bella. Bella reached into the air and grabbed then without even looking. Her reflexes had improved drastically.
“Now we have to explain this to Craven." Selene said. Bella moaned.
“Jeez, and I thought my day couldn’t get any worse.” She said. Selene nodded in agreement. It was obvious that whoever this Craven was, they did not like him very much.
We burst through the mansion doors. Everyone in the room turned to glance at us. They were all dressed up for tonight’s ceremony. We crossed the room, Selene and I taking the lead. The Cullens followed as they took in the scene. We went into the back where the practice room was. Gray was there of course.
We approached him. Selene though the gun that we had taken from one of the Lykens. He gave us a grave look then reached over and took it. He opened the bullet holes and looked at us. Ultraviolet radiation.
“They were armed with these.” I said. He nodded.
“Where the hell would they get enough technology to build that?” Selene spat. Then The doors swung open. Craven stepped into the room.
