5. Chapter 5: Bad News

Rating 5/5   Word Count 2037   Review this Chapter

"Jacob," Billy said.

“What?” Nessie said. I handed Billy Jr. to Billy, and took Renesmee in my arms right as she started to cry.

“When was the last time he was seen?” Edward asked.

“He was leaving the burning vampire,” Sam said.

“Vampire?” I asked in shock. Why was there a burning vampire?

“The kidnapper was a vampire. We found out that Victoria had created one more vampire before they came to fight. She told that vampire that in ten to eleven years to kill or kidnap people who were close to you Bella,” he explained.

“Victoria?” I asked more confused than before.

“Yes. If she got killed she wasn’t giving up. She did everything in her power to try to hurt you or someone you love.”

“Did this Victoria’s successor, thing, tell you anything else?” I asked with disgust.

“Yes he said that he worked for ten years to find out as much as possible about you. He even found out you were a vampire and that he had to hurt someone you love,” Sam said with more disgust then was necessary.

“I owe you one,” Edward said. “But where’s Jacob?”

“Jacob’s fine,” Seth said. “We fond him on the cliff.”

“He’s okay?” Nessie asked stunned.

“Yeah. He wanted to be alone for a while,” Seth informed her.

“I’m going to go talk to him,” she said as she ran out the door.

“So why are you all here?” I asked looking at them all.

“Bella,” Edward said calmly. “We need to talk alone.”

“Okay,” I said with a nervous edge to my voice.

We went to the cottage. And instead of going in side like I thought we would. Edward went around to the back of the cottage. He went and sat next to the pound and pulled me down to sit next to him.

Edward kissed me for a few minutes. I forgot all about the problems about every thing all I was thinking about was that Edward’s lips were on mine. I tried to concentrate on our problems but I couldn’t. He was trying to distract me and I was letting him.

“What is it Edward?” I asked when he paused to kiss my throat.

“Twilight again,” he murmured against my collarbone. “The most beautiful time of day. The last light of the day.”

“Edward, you’re talking about twilight again,” I said accusingly. “You only do that when you’re trying to avoid something. Now what is it?”

He sighed and lifted his head to look at the pound. “There all here because Aro sent a note saying that he’s coming to see Renesmee and her child,” he whispered. “I didn’t want to tell you with them all there.”

“How did they find out?” I asked in shock.

“Victoria’s last creation told them. Now they all are coming. It’s like when they came to ‘visit’ Renesmee all over again,” he said.

“Oh wow,” I took me a seconded to recover. “What do we do?”

“I don’t know,” he whispered. He took me in his arms. “We can only hope that they won’t kill Renesmee and Jacob and Billy Jr.; let alone the rest of us.”

“We needed to tell Nessie,” I said. “Does Jacob know?”

“Jacob wanted to be alone because he saw the note and he needed time to think. He’s going to tell Renesmee as soon as he can.”

Edward started to kiss me again. Now that he had gotten past the bad news he seemed eager to distract my planning. I wouldn’t let him have it.

After a few minuets of trying not to be distracted I noticed I was kissing him back.

I didn’t care that Charlie had cancer. I didn’t care that I might die when the Volturi met the baby.

All I cared about that night was that Edward was kissing me.

The next morning we went back to the house.

“So did you two have a nice night?” Emmett asked eagerly as we walked in.

“Oh grow up,” I said rolling my eyes. He chuckled.

“Is that a yes?” he asked mockingly.

“That is it’s none of your business,” I replied.

“I’ll take that as a yes,” he said with a laugh.

“Did Nessie and Jacob ever come back?” I asked Carlisle.

“Yes, they said that they were going hunting today,” Carlisle said.

“It’s not true. They are spending there day appreciating each other,” Emmett said teasingly. I went over and slapped him on the head. “Hey!”

“Grow up,” I repeated.

“No thanks.” He grinned.

“Rosalie do you think you can control your husband for a few minutes?” I asked.

“Sure, Bella,” she said with a smile.

“Emmett please act your age,” Esme said.

“Fine but I won’t like it,” he said. He made a big deal of acting like hundred year old man with a bad back.

“I don’t care if you like it or not,” Esme said going into her mothering voice. “You will not act like you are five years old. You were five a very long time ago.”

Emmett grimaced as he stood up straight.

“Alice,” Edward interrupted. “When are the Volturi coming?”

“In about a few months. The flowers were in bloom, so early spring,” Alice said. “Late March.”

“That gives us some time, autumn is almost over,” Carlisle said. “It gives us a lot more time then before.”

“What do you suggest we do?” I asked Carlisle.

“We should gather our friends like we did with Renesmee,” he paused before he continued. “The worst they could do is not stop to listen to the truth.”

“We will see what will happen,” Edward said.

“Jasper if it turns into a fight what do you suggest we do?” Emmett asked eagerly.

“Well there are a few more tricks up my sleeve,” Jasper said.

“But don’t you know only how to kill newborn vampires?” I asked. “The Volturi aren’t new born.”

“We did deal with some more experienced vampires,” Jasper said.

“Even if you did the Volturi are really experienced,” Emmett said.

“Emmett if you like I’ll fight you?” Jasper asked.

“Bring it on,” Emmett said.

“I never thought I’d say this but Emmett you are like every human teenage guy there is in the world,” I said.

“Thank you,” he said.

“That wasn’t a complement,” I told him.

“Oh!” He paused for a long moment. “Hey!”

“Took you long enough.”

“You know that Emmett’s not that bright,” Jasper teased.

“Yeah, I know. I just didn’t realize how stupid he was until now.” I teased back. “Emmett why don’t you actually pay attention in high school next time you go through it. Maybe then you’ll actually learn something.”

“Shut-up,” Emmett said.

“No thanks,” I quoted him.

“Rosalie do you think I’m stupid?” Emmett asked.

“I don’t know,” Rosalie said biting on her bottom lip teasingly.

“Oh Rose,” Emmett wined.

“We’re just kidding,” Jasper said.

“Oh. Okay,” Emmett said.

“Back to business,” Carlisle said. “If it turns in to a fight we need to have a plan in place. But I don’t think it will.”

“Alice,” I said turning to glare at her. “You better not leave.”

“I won’t,” Alice said.

“If you do you are in big trouble,” I warned her.

“I promise. I won’t leave,” she glared back at me.

“Where’s Billy Jr.?” I asked of topic. I hadn’t noticed that he was gone. In fact I hadn’t seen him all day.

“Billy’s a sleep in Edward’s room,” Rosalie said. “He’s so cute when he sleeps.”

“He fell a sleep a little after the wolves left,” Esme said.

“When did the wolves leave?” I wasn’t as observant as I usually was this morning.

“They left at three: ten this morning,” Alice said with irritation clear in her voice. “Well that’s when I was able to see again.”

“Alice,” Esme said.

“Sorry, I just don’t like being blind,” she said.

“You hate using the word think,” I said emphasizing the word more than necessary.

“Yes, the word think,” she said the word with disgust. “Is an unnecessary word.”

“Alice, most of us have to us the word think in our vocabulary,” I said.

“Well I don’t want it in my vocabulary,” she said stubbornly.

“Alice, can we get back to the subject,” Edward asked annoyed.

I shot him a dirty look. He grinned back at me.

“Okay we need to gather all our friends again,” Carlisle said deep in thought.

“We all ready have Tanya on are side. The Amazons would be more than willing to help and so would Maggie,” Edward deliberated.

“Do you think Nahuel would want to help?” I asked.

“I’m not sure we can always ask him,” Carlisle said. “We need to start gathering all our friends now so we have time to prepare.”

“We’ll stay here,” Edward said as he put his arm around me. “Renesmee and Jacob should stay too.”

“Yes, Renesmee and Jacob have to stay. With you two being here will make it easier on the others and them,” Carlisle agreed.

“Hey!” Renesmee said as she and Jacob came in. “What’s going on?”

“We were talking about all the friends we need to gather for when the Volturi come and ‘check in’,” Edward answered.

“Are Jacob and I the only ones who are staying here with Billy Jr.?” she asked nervously.

“No, Edward and I are stay with you guys,” I told her.

“Thanks,” she said with relief. “It’ll be easier with you two here.”

“That’s what we thought too,” I said.

“Okay, the rest of us are leaving today so we can be back soon,” Carlisle said.

“You guys are leaving now?” she asked with surprise.

“Yes, so we will be back in a week or two,” Rosalie said.

“Okay. I should tell the packs. I’ll be back in a sec,” Jacob said as he stepped out the door.

“We better get going,” Carlisle said.

“Yes,” agreed Esme.

“Bye will see you in a few weeks,” Carlisle said. After they hugged us.

“We need to go too,” Rosalie said after they had left. “Bye.”

“Bye,” we all said as they were leaving.

Alice came over and hugged me after they left. “Bye,” she said.

“I’ll see you later,” I said. “If you run off you are dead.” We were will still hugging each other.

“Got it,” she said as she let go of me with a little chuckle. “Bye Nessie.”

“Bye Aunt Alice,” Nessie said. “Bye Uncle Jasper.”

“Bye Nessie,” Jasper said and then they were off.

Jacob came back inside. “Were did every one go?” he asked in confusion.

Edward rolled his eyes.

“They went to gather our friends,” I said.

The days past by. Friends were coming every day. They seemed to accept Billy Jr. faster then they did with Renesmee. Maybe because they already went through a similar act before.

The déjà vu was so weird. And I knew why I was having déjà vu too. This made it so much more unpleasant.

Billy Jr. was growing up fast he was all ready talking. Maybe it was just me but I thought Billy Jr. was kind of disrespectful to his elders, well everyone for that matter.

“Edward,” I said one night. We were in our room and I was lying next to him. We weren’t keeping a conversation I just wanted to ask him something.

“Yes sweetheart?” he said as he kissed my neck.

“I was wondering . . . is it me or . . . is Billy Jr. rude?” I asked with hesitation.

“No it’s not just you. He doesn’t respect anyone,” he commented. “I don’t think Nessie and Jacob know because he is really respectful around them.”

“I just thought, I just thought that I was the only one that noticed,” I said as I cuddled deeper into Edward’s chest.

He wrapped his arms around me before he spoke. “Everyone notices but no one says any-thing because they don’t want to seem rude or disrespectful themselves.”

We didn’t say anything more for the rest of the night.

The next morning Carlisle and Esme came back. They had sent to us Zafrina and her sisters and Alistair; Carlisle had talked him into coming. A few days latter Alice and Jasper returned. They had sent us Peter and Charlotte and Nahuel and his aunt. Rosalie and Emmett didn’t return until a week after Alice came back. They had come with Amun and Kebi and Benjamin and Tia.

After every one had returned Kate said she needed to go somewhere. She didn’t come back until a week after she left and when she came back she had Garrett with her. The same day that Kate returned Stefan and Vladimir came. They told us that they would help if it turned into a fight.

We had twenty-nine people on our side not to mention the wolves. The Volturi only had nineteen. If it turned into a fight we would surly win. At least, I hoped so.
