Reese's Point of View:
I couldn't help but stare at him as he drove. God must've spent a little more time on this fine male specimen in front of me, because he looked oh so perfect, even while he was driving. I was surprised to find him staring right back at me a split second later.
"So, I take a right on this street here?" Edward asked me as he flashed his brilliant smile.
"Um, yeah, and then you keep on going straight. Thanks for giving me a ride home, by the way. My mom is really lame and she won't get me a car. I feel so pathetic riding my bike to work everyday, yet I feel even more pathetic asking my mom to pick me up," I babbled before I realized that I was talking way too much, as I always tend to do when I'm nervous.
To my surprise, Edward just laughed and replied, "Well, I guess today was your lucky day that I was here to drive you home. Or maybe it was my lucky day, for having met you."
I froze as those gorgeous hazel eyes flickered over at me again. Did he just say he was lucky to have met me? Maybe he didn't mean it that way, maybe he just needed a new friend here in Cambridge Grove because he didn't know anybody. Plus, we were both going to be seniors at CGHS in three days, and maybe he needed some nerdy girl like me to show him around...
"Hey, Reese, which house is it?" Edward asked me, snapping me out of my train of thought. Oh shoot, I was thinking too much again. Why must I always overanalyze? Now we were almost at my house, and I might not get to talk to him again.
"Um, it's the one with the blue gate," I said, nodding at my house as Edward swerved into my driveway.
I sat there in the car for a moment and tried to take a quick last glance at the gorgeous godlike creature sitting next to me before I had to leave. To my surprise, he was staring straight at me with a pensive look in his eyes.
"Uh, well, um, thanks so much for driving me home, Edward. Maybe we can go to school together on Thursday, and um, yeah, it was great meeting you..." WAIT, did I just make a fool out of myself?
"Yeah, that sounds great! How about I pick you up on Thursday, and you can show me around?"
How could I say no to that? "Oh, yeah, sounds great!"
Edward stared at me with that contemplative look on his face again for a moment. Wanting to break the ice, I blurted out, "Have we met before? Because I just feel as if we really click and everything." OH GOSH, DID I JUST SAY THAT?
Edward smiled, "I was actually thinking the same thing."
We both stared at each other for another moment before I heard the front door open. I snapped my focus away from him as my mother walked out the door and headed to the car. KILL ME, KILL ME NOW...
"Ayaka, why have you not picked up your phone? I thought I told you to call me to pick you up! Wakarimasu ka?"
"Hai, wakarimasu, mom, I understand. Sorry," I muttered as I grabbed my purse and got out of the car as I smiled an embarrassed smile at Edward, who just nodded knowingly and waved at my mother. My mother looked at me curiously from the doorway as she glanced over at Edward.
"Sayonara, Reese. Sayonara, Mrs. Akita," Edward yelled from his car window as he pulled out of our driveway.
My mother glanced at me in shock, as she asked, "Who is that? He knows Japanese? If he knows Japanese, then maybe he should stay awhile."
Honestly, I didn't know too much about him either, but I was thinking the exact same thing. Edward Cullen, why can't you stay with me a while?
