Chapter 4: Competition

When I walked downstairs, Alice was sitting in Jasper's lap, Bella was sitting beside Edward holding his hand and Emmett was sitting on the floor between Rosalie's legs. He smiled brightly and patted the carpet beside him. I sat beside Emmett, picking up the controller in front of me.

"So, being the gentleman that I am, I will let you start off easy. Which female do you want?"

"None. This game isn't old enough for my girl Chyna and it's too new for Gail Kim. Wait, what makes you think I want to play one of the female characters?"

"Because, grasshopper, I don't want you crying about how I whipped you in Smackdown v. Raw."

I nodded and considered my options. "Which version is it?"

"2009."

"And who will you be playing oh Great One?" I said patronizingly as the others snickered.

"Well, I thought I would start off simple and play Rey Mysterio."

"In that case." I turned to the large flat screen and began sifting through the players. "I will take my boy Jeff."

Emmett snorted. "Jeff Hardy against Rey Mysterio and his Nacho Libre style? Are you serious?"

"I have complete faith in my Jeff. And uh, Emmett, its-its actually called Lucha Libre." I half whispered as his family laughed. Even Rosalie cracked a small smile. Ok, I'm going to make it my personal mission to get her to like me.

"He can't even beat his brother, and Matt is not that great of a wrestler if you ask me!"

Oh, that was crossing the line. Nobody talks about my Jeff. "Ok, hotshot. How about we up the ante a little?"

Emmett bore the same devious smile his sisters had earlier. "What did you have in mind?"

"Well, if you know Jeff the way I know Jeff then you know what I'm going to say next."

Emmett's eyes lit up and we both said it at the same time. "Extreme Rules Match!"

"Umm, Jasmine, are you sure about that?" Edward cautioned me. "Emmett is known to be pretty vicious in these games."

I turned to him, tilting my head to the side. A wry smile forming. "I'm not a peaceful little kitten either, Edward. Don't worry, I got this."

Once we chose our respective players, the match began. Emmett tried to "take it easy" on me by doing a drop kick and pinning me to the mat. The ref barely had the one count before I kicked out. He didn't think I could win, ok. I quickly jumped out of the ring and grabbed a ladder. I climbed back into the ring and did Jeff's Twist of Fate. Emmett groaned and focused his complete attention on the game finally realizing that I was more of a threat than he originally thought. He unleashed a wave of punches and kicks building up enough strength to do the 619. He thought he had me pinned, but I managed to kick out right before the count of three.

"Oh come on, ref!" he yelled at the screen.

"Wow." - Jasper.

"No way." - Bella.

"Damn." - Rosalie.

"Oh, that's it. The gloves are off now sweetheart!" Emmett said. He went outside of the ring and brought in a table. Then he set the table on fire.

I smiled as he jumped up and did the Hurricanrana on me through the burning table. Emmett and everyone else thought he had me beat for sure. Again, I kicked out before the count of three.

"Son of a-!" Emmett yelled.

"You have to love that Hardy Boy spirit," I gloated. I sighed figuring it was time to quit playing with him. I climbed the top rope to finish him off with the Whisper in the Wind. I put my finger to my lips and said, "Sshh," as the ref counted to three.

"I.Don't.Belive.It." Emmett whispered. He was in a complete state of shock.

"Jasmine, how did you do that?" Edward asked in amazement.

"I just work with they give me. I told you don't doubt Jeff."

"No! Rematch, right now!" Emmett whined like a little boy who lost his Sippy cup.

"I'll do you one better, Emmett. Let's play this next match on Legend Level."

Emmett's eyes glittered and he pulled his lips back over his teeth in an evil grin. I wonder was that meant to scare me. Oh, well. Edward gave another small laugh as if he were reading my mind.

"Fine by me. But since this is a grown man's game, let's leave the little boy's behind."

I looked at the screen just in time to see him choose the Animal, Batista. I giggled a little.

"What?"

"Nothing, it's just that my grandma used to call him her boyfriend." The others laughed as I said this. I tried thinking of someone who would be a good challenge for Batista in a Legend match when my stomach started to gurgling.

"Jasmine, are you hungry, dear?" Esme said coming down the stairs.

"A little."

"How about a pizza from Pizzahut?"

"Ok, can I have a stuffed crust Meat Lovers, minus bacon with extra cheese please?"

"Of course, dear. Kids?"

There was a brief moment of silence. Almost as if no one really knew what to say.

"A small cheese." Alice replied softly.

"Small veggie." Jasper said taking Alice's hand.

"Small pepperoni." Bella

"Small veggie for me too, please." Rosalie

"Small beef." Edward

Everyone looked at Emmett. He just looked at me and said, "I'll have what Jasmine's having."

Why do I have the feeling that this is only the beginning of a long line of competitions between Emmett and me?
