I woke up. I was lying in a soft warm bed. My clothes were rumpled and there was foul taste in my mouth. I got up and padded downstairs. I realized at that point that I had a shirt around me. A guy's shirt. Oh. I reached the bottom of the stairs and stopped. Jasper was sitting in the kitchen making a cup of tea. He spun round and smiled.

"Hey! You're awake! I was just about to bring you a cup of tea. I figured you might have a hang over this morning"

"No. just a bad taste in my mouth and a random shirt on me"

"Yeah. That's mine. Yours got wet when that bunch of idiots decided to pick a fight with you. You fell in a fountain. So I gave you the shirt so you didn't catch a cold"

"Thanks. Where are my clothes?"

"They're hanging up. They're dry now"

"Cool. Where did I sleep?"

"My room. I kipped on the sofa" he smiled. I knew he was lying. He didn't need to sleep. There was a noise outside.

"Oh God...my family" a flicker of fear on his face.

"Should they know I'm here?" I whispered.

"Probably not" he said. He hurried to the back door and pushed me outside, gently.

"Hide in the woods. I'll be out in ten minutes. Then I'll drive you home" I darted into the woods and sat. I had three very serious problems.

One, I wasn't allowed to like Jasper. Two, I did like Jasper. Three, that was very, very stupid and highly dangerous. Jasper appeared beside me.

"Quickly, come on. They're inside doing stuff but we have to be quick"

"No problem for you. You drive way too fast" he grinned and started to walk towards his bike. We climbed on and I wrapped my arms around his waist. He drove fast (even for him) to my house.

"Jasper?" I said as I dismounted.

"Yes?"

"Are we dating?" I asked, unsure of myself.

"If you like"

"Great. When are we going out next?"

"Well...I'm sure it's customary for the family to meet the partner. So...if you want, I'll come back later and take you over there"

"Why couldn't I have met them just now?"

"I figured you'd prefer to do that when you were...um...more suitable" I realized I was still wearing his shirt.

"Right. Ok...say...midday? I'll dress decently, promise" he nodded.

"Okay. I'll be back at midday. What about you? Do you need to introduce me to anyone?"

"Nah. My sister's seen you before and my dad is so rarely home he won't ever notice if I am out...ever"
I waited until he had driven off before I went inside. I immediately made a call.

"Neferet? You know my idea? Can you stage the accident tonight?"

"Certainly Alice. I trust everything's going well?"

"Yes. I'm going back over their house at midday"

"Okay. The ‘accident' will be on the news tomorrow morning. Make sure you watch it"

"'Kay. Bye" I put down the phone and went to get changed. I felt so nervous while I waited for Jasper. Cara came home.

"What's wrong?"

"Nothing"

"Yes there is. You love him. Don't you?"

"Shut your trap Cara" I said. I knew though...she was right.
