Jasper picked me up again, only this time it wasn't on the bike. It was in a shiny black car. I heard the car outside and ran downstairs. As I opened the front door, the driver's side window slid open. I almost fainted. He was wearing dark glasses, which contrasted, deeply with his pale skin.

"You want a ride?" he asked in a deep southern accent. I raised an eyebrow but I actually found it incredibly attractive. I grinned as he did and climbed in the other side.

"Hey" I said as I slid in.

"Hi...you know, I have to admit something to you"

"yes?" and what might that be Mr. Hale?"

"I haven't stopped thinking about you since I dropped you off this morning"

"Flattery will get you nowhere," I said, buckling up.

"I disagree," he said as we sped off "It already got you here"

"That's true" I was hyperaware of how close we were. I could touch him from here. He stopped the car.

"Are we here already?" I asked breathlessly. He nodded.

"You scare me," I said. His smile froze.

"Oh come on," I said. I took his hand and pulled. He grinned and led me to his huge house. I was nervous. My palm started to sweat the way they always did when I was afraid.

"Anxious?" Jasper asked. I nodded, not trusting myself to speak. He moved closer to me and whispered, "It'll be fine"

"If you say so" he opened the front door for me.

"Hello? Anyone home?" he called. I smiled. Sometimes it was so easy to forget that Jasper was a vampire. Oh, careful thoughts. A door opened and his parents (?) walked in.

"Hello, I'm Esme" they must be his parents then.

"And I'm Carlisle, nice to meet you...Alice?"

"Yes. Nice to meet you too. It's so beautiful here"

"It's my hobby," said Esme "I love decorating"

"Are you going to show Alice the rest of the house?" enquired Carlisle. Jasper looked uncomfortable, shifting from one foot to the other.

"She's...kind of...already...seen it"

"Jasper?" asked Esme, eyebrow raised.

"She's been over twice already. She...stayed over last night"

"HA! Jasper's been harbouring girls in his room! You are in so much trouble!" called a loud voice from upstairs.

"Emmett! Go away!" Jasper shouted up.

"I'm sorry. It's not his fault. I came here last night before we went out and I left something behind, so after we'd been out Jasper brought me back to grab it. And I'd had some stuff to drink and I fell asleep"

"Okay. We understand" I'd been trained so I could pass a lie detector test.

"I hope you didn't drink and drive Jasper?" asked Esme. He shook his head and she smiled.

"Well, it was nice to meet you Alice. I have to go do some gardening now. Carlisle, will you help?" they both left and Jasper escorted me upstairs to his room.

"I hope you are not intending to corrupt my innocence," I said. He grinned wickedly and sat on his sofa.

"Can I talk to you Jasper? It's urgent," Edward said, coming in. Jasper rolled his eyes and followed his brother out. I froze, straining my ears to hear.

"Jasper. She knows what we are!" Damn! Stupid mind readers!
