On the surface

Summary:
Niam has no one, except the memories of her dead parents. On the surface she seems fine. hardworking, friendly. but she's not. she's upset with herself. And lonely. She needs someone who will look into her soul and save what she has left. Teen rating for darkness...

Notes:
This was exceptionally easy to write. So lots of updates i hope. This is before Bella comes on the scene (and no, Edward is not going to get off with Niam) and before the Cullen's go to Forks.

"Well, there are two things I want to talk to you about" I told her. Right, I was going to do it. Not only was I going to tell her about vampires I was going to tell her...how I felt. But the question was, how did I feel? I'd heard what her sister had said. I'd heard Niam deny it and that had hurt. But even more curious was while she denied it, she'd felt a kind of strange longing. It was confused but I could tell was partly because she hadn't yet met a man who didn't want something from her, well, at least not one that she'd talked to and gotten close too. Anyway, I realized she was waiting for me to continue.

"Why did you say you had nowhere to stay?"

"Because I don't" she said, confused.

"You know you can stay here"

"I don't think I'm welcome. I mean...Jasper; can I ask you a question?" I braced myself for the worst.

"You like me right?"

"Yes"

"Do you...like, like me? It's just something stupid my sister said and I mean..."

"Yes"

"It's not like I'm pretty or anything. What?" she said, realizing that I'd answered.

"I do...like, like you as you put it"

"And I'm not just...a rebound girl?"

"What did Alice say?" I asked.

"Well...she said that you were just using me to get your own back on her. That I didn't belong with you or in this house"

"That is complete bullshit Niam! I am not trying to get my own back on Alice and if you don't belong here, neither do I!" I said, firmly.

"Thanks"

"Now, I've got something else to tell you...and it's going to be a bit weird but you mustn't think I'm joking or insane...or scream. Please don't scream," I said. If I would prefer any of those reactions, I think I'd rather she think I was joking. I really didn't want her to scream.

"Okay" she prompted.

"Niam...I'm...a...vampire" I stuttered out. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath.

"Very nice Jasper. What's next? If you didn't want me to stay, you could have just told me," she said, scathingly. She pushed off her covers and swung her legs to the ground.

"Where are you going?" I asked.

"Away, because if you don't want me here, I'm not going to inconvenience you any longer" she stood up, took two steps and fell over. I moved faster then ever and grabbed her before she hit her head.

"You haven't even recovered from your last set of injuries, why are you trying to create more?" I asked. She shot me a furious look, righted herself and pushed me
away.

"Thank you," she said. She turned back to the door. I waited, and then darted in front of her, to fast for a human. She nearly fell over me.

"How did you do that?" she asked, breathlessly.

"Like I said, vampire" I picked her up and placed her on the bed again.

"Stay" I ordered her "Or Carlisle will make my immortal life hell"

"You're really a vampire?"

"Yes"

"Wow"
