SHE SPINS AND SHE SWAYS TO WHATEVER SONG PLAYS

WITHOUT A CARE IN THE WORLD AND I'M SITTIN' HERE WEARIN'

THE WEIGHT OF THE WORLD ON MY SHOULDERS

I came into the "living" room and saw Nessie dancing to the radio that Esme had on the kitchen/living room divider. I smiled as I watched her. She moved her hips and twirled like a tornado. She looked so cute and innocent and she was acting her age for once. She was so smart and it thrilled me to see her acting like a three year old.

ITS BEEN A LONG DAY AND THERE'S STILL WORK TO DO

SHE'S PULLIN' AT ME SAYIN' "DAD I NEED YOU. THERE'S A BALL AT THE CASTLE AND I'VE BEEN INVITED

AND I NEED TO PRACTICE MY DANCIN'

OH. PLEASE, DADDY, PLEASE."

Nessie saw me and stopped. She blushed and grinned. I smiled back at her and clapped my hands.

"Well done Nessie." I congratulated her.

"Daddy, I was practicing. But since you're here. You can help me. Me and Jakie were playing princess. He saved me from the dragon and invited me to the ball at his castle and I need to practice my dancing." She grinned and I felt my insides pull. She was going to dance with Jake, her "prince". More like a mut to me.

SO I DANCED WITH,

CINDERELLA WHILE SHES HERE IN MY ARMS

CAUSE I KNOW SOMETHING THE PRINCE NEVER KNEW

OH I DANCED WITH CINDERELLA

I DONT WANT TO MISS EVEN ONE SONG

CAUSE ALL TO SOON THE CLOCK WILL STRICK MIDNIGHT

AND SHE'LL BE GONE

So I walked over to her and lifted her up on to the tips of my toes. I started to hum her lullaby and she griped my legs and I held onto her and danced around the room. When her lullaby was over, she looked up at me and said, "Daddy, Let's dance to another one. You're a good dancer." And so I hummed her Bella's lullaby, then Esmes, then I just started making them up as I went along. Before I knew it, it was bed time and I carried her upstairs to her room. She fell asleep in my arms and I held her all night, knowing that soon, the clock will strike midnight and she'll disappear with her prince.

SHE SAYS HE'S A NICE GUY

AND I'D BE IMPRESSED

SHE WANTS TO KNOW IF I APPROVE OF THE DRESS

SHE SAYS, "DAD, PROMS JUST ONE WEEK AWAY,

AND I NEED TO PRACTICE MY DANCIN'...

OH, PLEASE, DADDY, PLEASE."

"Dad!" Nessie complained, "I like it."

"Renesmee! It doesn't even have straps, or a back for that matter." I tried to convence her to chose a different one but she was stuck on a light purple dress with four, very thin, straps in the back holding it on.

"Dad, Jake's not going to try anything. For one, he knows you'd kill him. And for two, He's a nice guy and he wouldn't push that on to me." I snorted, sure. But she looked at me with those big, chocolate eyes of her mothers and I caved.

When we got home, she put on her dress and her shoes and came into my room.

"Dad, will you help me practice dancing?" She asked and she looked like that little three year old, I danced with, with her on the tips of my toes.

SO I DANCED WITH,

CINDERELLA WHILE SHES HERE IN MY ARMS

CAUSE I KNOW SOMETHING THE PRINCE NEVER KNEW

OH I DANCED WITH CINDERELLA

I DONT WANT TO MISS EVEN ONE SONG

CAUSE ALL TO SOON THE CLOCK WILL STRICK MIDNIGHT

AND SHE'LL BE GONE

SHE WILL BE GONE

"Sure, honey." I got up and she walked over to my CD player and put in a CD. The songs were slow dance songs and I fought the urge to go break Jake's legs. And arms, just to be safe...

She walked over to me, way more gracfully than her mother in high heels when she was human. I kinda wished she wasn't and needed me, to catch her when she was about to fall flat on her face. Nessie wrapped her arms around me and I did the same and we danced to the whole CD around my room.

SHE CAME HOME TODAY

WITH A RING ON HER HAND JUST GLOWIN' AND TELLIN'

ALL THEY HAD PLANNED SHE SAID,

"DAD, THE WEDDING STILL SIX MONTHS AWAY

BUT I NEED TO PRACTICE MY DANCIN'

OH, PLEASE,

DADDY, PLEASE"

Nessie ran into our cottage with tears running down her face. I jumped up.

"Did he hurt you?" I asked, or growled when she had her mind blocked. I was half way out the door when she shook her head and held out her left hand.

"He asked me to marry him!" She squealed. Bella came running in and hugged her.

"Oh Honey! That's wonderful." We sat down on the couch and she told us all about what they were going to do. I couldn't listen. I wanted to, but I was in a daze.

"Daddy? I know that the wedding is still a while away," A while away? Was she crazy? It was six short months away. That's like, six days to me. "but, will you practice dancing with me for the father/daughter dance?" She asked. I looked into her eyes and sighed in defeat. I nodded and she squealed and ran to go get her prom CD.

SO I DANCED WITH,

CINDERELLA WHILE SHES HERE IN MY ARMS

CAUSE I KNOW SOMETHING THE PRINCE NEVER KNEW

OH I DANCED WITH CINDERELLA

I DONT WANT TO MISS EVEN ONE SONG

CAUSE ALL TO SOON THE CLOCK WILL STRICK MIDNIGHT

AND SHE'LL

BE

GONE

It was the big day. And it was time for the father/daughter dance. I stood up and walked over to her. She looped her arms around my shoulders and mine around her waist. The song we danced to was the lullaby that I made up a few, short years ago. I'm surprised that she remembered it well enough to play it on the paino. I took an unsteady breath and we started dancing. When the song ended, Nessie was crying. I wiped away her tears and whispered to her.

"Now it's your turn to dance with your Prince at the ball." And more tears fell from her eyes. She gave me a small smile and went to dance with Jake.

After her wedding, they got into Jake's new mustang and drove off into the sunset. Off went my little princess...
