Welcome to Camp Cullen
Bella takes a vacation with the Cullen's during the perfect summer after her junior year. new chapters are up, and more on the way. Thanks for reading. ")
This story takes place during the summer between Twilight and New Moon. It is light and hopefully amusing, I was aiming to ease off the angst and portray the characters "happy". There will be some conflict, and it wouldn't be Edward without a little angst remission,so look for that in future chapters

I could hear Edward and his brothers still occupied with thrashing each other, as I knocked on the door of the cabin that Alice and Jasper shared. Of course, my fist never actually made contact with the wood as Alice had seen me coming and yanked the door open excitedly. Her hand flicked out like a snakes tongue and wrapped around my wrist pulling me across the threshold before the door had even swung all the way open.
She was quivering with anticipation and my dread increased significantly. Reading the expression on my face she stuck her tongue out at me, all the while bouncing on the balls of her feet, her evil little hands clasped to her chest.” Stop looking like that,” she chastised laughingly,” This is going to be fun!”
I rolled my eyes dramatically and grumbled,” Fun for you maybe, you’re not the paper doll in this scenario.”
“You came of your own free will,” she reminded with narrowed eyes.
“Playing dress up was the lesser evil,” I replied pointedly, my eyes drawn out the picture window and across the lake to where the Cullen brothers could be seen cavorting in the waterfall froth.
“Bella, you’re a killjoy,” Alice pronounced in exasperation,” But I don’t care, I’ll take what I can get.”
She pulled me upstairs and we spent the next 2 hours doing the girl thing. Had I not been so distracted by my own thoughts, I might have actually had a good time. Alice was fun and she was good company, however suspect her interest in my fashion sense. Of which I had none. My idea of “camping” haute couture being cutoffs and flip flops. Backless silk sheath and stiletto heels, not so much.
My arms akimbo I gazed down at myself in horror,” Alice…you have got to be kidding?”
“What?” she asked innocently. I smothered a laugh at her unfeigned surprise.
As if I were speaking to a mental patient I annunciated each word deliberately,” Is this hiking, or horseback riding attire?” I couldn’t help the sarcasm, I looked ridiculous.
To my dismay, she paused before replying, as though considering the possibilities. I could only shake my head.
“Actually,” she said off handedly,” This is for the dance.”
“Dance?” my voice rose an octave,” What dance?”
“Oh,” she replied nonchalantly,” I guess we didn’t tell you that part.”
My eyebrows drew together over narrowed eyes,”I think maybe now would be a good time then.”
Alice flitted to the closet again, and her muffled voice wafted back towards me from its vast depths, ”Each year when we come here, we have a dance and a BBQ for the ranch hands, and the camp staff. Livvy usually takes care of the BBQ, since they do that during the day. But that night we open up the lodge to them and have a dance. There’s usually around 40-50 people, and we have a lot of fun.”
My voice was shrill, even to my own ears, but I didn’t really care,” And no one thought to tell me this until now?” I snarled.
Alice rolled her eyes, not in the least intimidated by my radiating displeasure, ”Oh relax Bella,” she huffed,” It’s not as though anyone was keeping it from you. It’s just that no one thought about it until now. Besides, you’re on vacation….try and get in the spirit if you please.”
Feeling somewhat churlish and more than a little embarrassed, I let my anger subside. After all, this was their party and I didn’t have any right to ruin it for them. “Sorry Alice,” I replied with as much grace as I could muster around the butterflies swooping inside of my stomach. The idea of wearing this dress in front of fifty people I didn’t know, still made my mouth go dry, but I would try, as Alice admonished, to get in the “spirit” of things. They deserved that much cooperation from me at the least.
Alice grinned brightly, clearly forgiving me for my lapse and rewarding me for my bravery. “Atta girl,” she replied, “Now, let’s get you out of that dress before you wrinkle.”
I laughed,” You’re going to have to peel me like a banana, this thing is tight enough to be a second skin.”
Alice chuckled,” Be that as it may, you look wonderful in it, and Edward’s eyes are going to pop right out of his big swelled head when he sees you.”
“That might be worth the effort,” I grinned back at her conspiratorially.
“I can’t see there being much effort involved,” Jasper’s smooth southern drawl stated from behind us. I spun red faced, to find him leaning casually against the doorframe, a towel hanging around his neck and his curly blond hair plastered wetly to his head. He eyed me appraisingly as Alice darted to his side to be tucked under his arm. He grinned at my discomfort, ”Edward won’t be the only one having trouble keeping his eyes in his head if you wear that, Bella,” he said, laughing when I turned another shade of crimson.
Straightening, he dropped a gentle kiss on Alice’s lips and said, ”I’m going to go wash the Emmett slobber off my person, while you girls finish up. And Bella?...”
I glanced up at him from under my bangs and met his frankly appreciative gaze, “I meant what I said, you really are stunning.” His smile was warm and sincere, and I returned it shyly. “Thanks Jasper,” I replied,” That’s nice of you to say.”
He grinned at me, then down at his beaming wife, ”I call ‘em as I see ‘em”, he shrugged and turned on his heel, heading for the bathroom.
Alice watched him go with a fond smile, her face alight with the obvious love they shared. It made me almost jealous,” You’re a lucky woman Alice,” I said softly, the undertone of sadness drawing her around to face me with a knowing look on her face. ” Don’t I know it,” she replied, “ But you have no reason to feel jealous Bella, Edward loves you with the same intensity Jazz and I have for each other.”
I smiled wistfully,” I know he loves me Alice. But there are so many….issues, so many obstacles. It’d just be nice once in a while to feel like we had a future we didn’t have to fight uphill for.”
Alice nodded, “I can understand that,” she replied,” Edward has always had his head up his own ass, and since you’ve come into his life, he’s managed to fit neck and shoulders as well.” She wrapped a cold arm around my slumped shoulders, giving me a sisterly squeeze,” Just give him time Bella, eventually it will all work out. I promise.”
I smiled at her,” You think?”
She tapped her head and grinned,” Trust me my friend. Sister Alice knows all.”
I snorted a laugh, “I wouldn’t presume to doubt you Alice.”
“Wise beyond your years,” she answered, pressing a kiss to my cheek. “Now let’s get you out of this thing and into something more…”Bella”.
