Jacob’s Point of View

The slow proceeding of time was starting to get on my nerves- unable to sleep after such a long journey I had no choice but to get up and go do something. The Cullen’s would be back soon, probably flanked by a whole army of Guard members, eagerly awaiting the return of Dawn. I wonder if they thought I kidnapped him or something? Ha! That would be priceless! I still don’t know how to feel about Felix anymore, he looked so beaten up about what had happened back in Volterra, with Dawn finding out about his past and all but I still can’t shake this brooding hatred towards him. It undeniable. A frozen howl taints the wind around my house and I’m almost sure they’ve already arrived. Then Paul bust through my front door, eyes ablaze in fury.

“So you’ve met Dawn haven’t you?” I said snickering.

“How could you bring him here Jake?! It’s not safe!! You should’ve seen what he did to me back in Port A! It was practically murder!!” His chest rose and fell rapidly but his hands did not tremble. He was probably more embarrassed then anything else.

“What did he give you spankin’ Paul? You got a little boo-boo now?” I laughed but Paul rushed forward.

“This is serious Jake! You know the whole Volturi will come for him! It’ll be war just like last time!” I rolled my eyes again.

“Don’t be overdramatic Paul! If there is a war we’ll scare them away like last time!” I said arms folded.

“Hey man don’t be stupid just because you got nothing to live for! We all got families here and we don’t have time for your immature bullshit!” Paul walked out and slammed the door with more force then necessary. Nothing to live for? Maybe that’s why I’ve been so god damn reckless! The fridge’s only ten steps away but the couch looks so much sweeter- oh shit I am a fucking wreck! I got up and surveyed my little fortress. What if Renesmee comes and sees me living like this? She’ll probably be scared away for ever. Just when I start to pick up the old boxes of pizza, Leah and Dawn come in. Dawn looking visibly upset and Leah looking so stressed she’s practically pulling her hair out.

“Hey, what did I miss?” I call from the kitchen.

“I’m taking off Jacob I’ve got some ties to mend.” Leah shouts before slamming the door.

“What’s gotten into her?” I ask Dawn but he’s just sitting there looking like he was the one who got spanked.

“I don’t know! Chicks are weird…” He finally said.

“Yeah most of them- and especially Leah.” He looks up at me confused.

“What do you mean?” What the hell are we talking about?

“Well I don’t know if you noticed man but Leah’s a little over-emotional.” I shrugged and kicked an empty soda can across the floor.

“Leah? She barely said a word to me the whole time. Until her two friends came up and starting harassing us. I had to…I had to hurt one of them.”

“Paul? Yeah right! The only thing you hurt was his pride- other then that he’ll be fine. He’s just worried about what your father will do, or rather bring here.” Dawn nodded.

“Yeah, he said something like that but more on the lines of I’m a fucking freak!” He scowled and I chugged another soda.

“Hey man you can’t be held responsible for things your parents do in the past. Supposedly he was real different back then, or that’s what he said.” Ugh! I can’t believe im standing up for this guy but Dawn needs it.

“I used to always think my dad was such a hero. He was the most compassion person in the Volturi other then Marcus and he seemed like he was doing a lot of good for our kind. I can’t believe he did that. It’s like an emotional slap to the face.” I shrugged.

“Sure it is man but think of this way- it’s better to know now then to come here and act all stupid with the ignorance of a child.”

“Yeah I guess so. So what’s up with Leah? Why is she so cold? No pun intended.” I laughed.

“That is a long story. Let’s just say she was betrayed once to in a lot more ways then one. Imagine being one of a kind but not in a good way, like being well, a monster among monsters.”

“Yeah I know exactly how that feels.” He sighed.

“You should talk to her you know? Get to know her.” I wiggled my two eyebrows up and down and he raised one up speculatively.

“I don’t know Jake. Every time I’m around her I just clam up and end up looking like a moron. Especially with her buddy lurking around here. You should’ve seen him when he caught me and Leah walking out of the store. You should’ve seen her when she told me they’d be there. Pure fear.” That wasn’t like Leah, she’s always so fear-less.

“Maybe she’s tired of being out of the circle. She can’t have kids you know. So basically she doesn’t belong anywhere.” He thought for a minute and got up to walk towards the door.

“Do you know where I can hunt? It doesn’t seem so safe around here and I don’t want to have to use my powers again.” He asked.

“I think you’re going to have to wait ‘till the Cullen’s get back. They should be dragging along your dad and mom pretty soon.” He rolled his eyes.

“I’m not a kid anymore. I can make decisions for myself.” He muttered under his breath.

“You seen a lot kid but you ain’t seen nothing yet! Wait till your mom and dad get here and the Cullen’s and Felix start dukin’ it out. There will be blood.” My smile faded and so did his.

“Are you going to kill him still?” He said, quietly so it was more to himself then me. I thought and I thought and I thought.

“Yes. Yes I am.”

Back with the Volturi…

“Felix don’t you dare!” Renesmee screamed at her enraged husband.

“It’s all his fault Ness! If it wasn’t for that mangy mutt we wouldn’t be in this predicament!” Felix yelled, half angry, half saddened by the fact that his only son ran off with the wolves.

“Dawn knows what he’s doing! Plus you can’t force him to come home! He WON’T listen!” Renesmee thought of her adoring son in the hands of her ex lover and was surprised to find she was content.

“I know what you’re doing Vanessa! Don’t do this!” Felix grabbed his wife by the wrists and pulled her close. “Please don’t do this.”

“Felix, what are you talking about?” He laid his head on her chest and listened to rapid beating of her human heart. He thought of the first real time he held her and how it ignited him how it made him feel alive.

“Don’t kill me please. Don’t kill me…”

They boarded the plane with Jane and Demitri and the rest of the Cullen Family sullenly. What they were about to do was unthinkable. They were going to save the child but in the process going to kill someone they’ve loved even before all this crazy mess. The flight was silent but when they landed in Seattle, raw electric energy pulsed around them. Alice saw a vision then but no one knew but her. Some one would die the next morning, but it wasn’t who they expected or who they came for. She remained quiet among the group concentrating hard on the out come, like a hawk on prey. It would all be over soon, she thought to her self. And new lives will rise from the ashes…
