It was the day of graduation. My last day of high school. I had the butterflies of anticipation. Edward and Alice were graduating again, only lord knows how many times it had been by now. As for me though, this was my first and only time. I was scared, and disappointed that my parents weren’t going to be there on one of the biggest days of my life. Carlisle and Esme assured me that they would be there to see me walk, and it heightened my spirit’s a little.

Alice had gotten me a light white dress, and pink flats. She did my hair and make up similar to how I had it for the dance. I was standing in my bedroom, looking at myself in the mirror when Edward walked in and wrap his arms around me from behind.

“I really wish Carlisle had never taught you that.” I smiled; he hated it when he couldn’t get in my head. He loved it when he couldn’t touch me unless I let him hear my thoughts. I gave a short laugh.

“You look awfully handsome.” I turned around; wrapping my arms around his neck I gave him a light kiss.

“It’s almost time to go.” He said quietly. I nodded my head, and my nerves began working overtime.

Alice pranced into the room, looking as stunning as ever.

“Ready to go?” she asked. I smiled nervously, and nodded my head slowly.

Edward laced his fingers through mine and we headed downstairs. Esme was talking with Carlisle in the living room when she saw me and ran over to give me a hug.

“Heaven, you look so beautiful.” I hugged her back and smiled appreciatively. I loved her just as much if not more than I had loved my own mother. Carlisle stepped over after Esme and gave me a hug.
“Let’s get on our way.”

Alice wanted to take her Porsche due to it being graduation day. Edward let me ride in front with her while he sat in the back. The entire drive to the school, I felt as if I was going to vomit. Standing in front of a hundred or more people to receive a piece of paper did not appeal to me.

When the school came into view, I turned back to Edward quickly.

“The entire town must be here!” I said nervously. He laughed.

We pulled in and stepped out of Alice’s car, which was drawing even more attention to us. Slipping on our graduation gowns and caps, we headed for the gymnasium. Stepping in line in the order we were shown the previous day, I got even more nervous. Edward and Alice were at least 10 people ahead of me, so I stood there by myself.

The music teacher began to play the piano, and Principal Auld made his speech. The Valedictorian went next, and the piano began to play once more. I saw Carlisle and Esme smiling at me from there seats, and tears of happiness welled into my eyes. I couldn’t believe I’d lost so much, and gained an entire family in the matter of months.

Before long names were being called. Edward and Alice accepted there diplomas graciously and I watched them step down from the stage. My legs were shaking for the fear that I would do something stupid and embarrass myself. I fought to push the warmth growing up my legs down.

They called my name, and I stepped up the stairs to the small stage slowly. I glanced over to the students who had already gotten there diplomas, and saw Edward beaming at me. I gave him a slight smile, and took my diploma into my hand. I shook hands with Mr. Auld and he congratulated me.

I let out a deep sigh once I was off of the other side of the stage, and in Edwards arms. He kissed me lightly.

“See that wasn’t so bad now was it?” He asked, I shook my head. He gave me another small kiss.

“Congratulations.” he said.

We turned and watched the remaining students receive there diplomas, and once it was finished Principal Auld congratulated the class of 2007. We threw our hats into the air, and once it was all over I was ecstatic.

I had done it, after so many moves, after so much stress and hassle I had finally completed high school. I had also found true happiness, after what seemed like years of sadness.

I received hugs from many classmates that I didn’t even know, and after the crowd had cleared Esme and Carlisle walked over to embrace me.

“Congratulations darling! You’ve been through so much, and look at you now.” I smiled widely and took turns hugging both of them. Edward and Alice hugged them both, putting on a façade for those still around.

“What do you say we celebrate?” Alice said hugging me tightly, I smiled.

“Sure, what do you want to do?” I questioned,

“It’s your celebration, what would you like to do? We can go anywhere.” She put emphasis on anywhere.

“I’m not getting in a plane tonight Alice.” She laughed and hugged me,

“How about Seattle?” She questioned, “Maybe go dancing or something?”

Nodding my head I replied, “Sounds fine to me.” Edward groaned.

“Really Alice, dancing?” I slapped him playfully and we walked out to Alice’s car.

“We have to go home to get ready first.” She said, her tone was excited, “And I have the cutest outfit for you Heaven.” I snuggled close to Edward in the back seat, and pushed the warmth away from my head.

Are you sure you want to go? I questioned in my thoughts. He nodded his head and smiled at me.

“Whatever you want to do, this is your day.” Beaming I laid my head back down on his shoulder.

Alice played the music loudly on the way home, and when we arrived we were all laughing and having a great time. Stepping out of the car, Edward wavered and nearly fell back. I grabbed his arm quickly.

“What’s wrong?” He had a look of sheer terror contorting his features.

“Edward? What’s wrong with you?” I grabbed his face so he would look at me, and he pulled away.

“Edward?” My tone was pleading, I saw his eyes dart for the forest, and I turned my head to look in the direction. I was startled by what I saw, and let my guard flush around me quickly.

There was what appeared to be an enormous dog standing at the edge of the trees looking towards us. It was russet brown, and its hair was long and shaggy. I pushed my guard away from my hand, and reached for Edwards quickly.

“Edward, what is that?” I asked, I felt the wind rush by me, and Alice was standing next to us.

“What does he want Edward? Why is he here?” She said, suddenly it all came rushing back to me. My bubble of happiness popped as quickly as it had came. I pulled away from Edwards hand as if I had been burned.

I knew what the dog was, and it wasn’t just an ordinary dog at all. It was Jacob, the person that Bella had left Edward for. The dog was nearly fifty yards away from us, and it turned around slowly and walked back into the woods. I looked at Edward, and his face was contorted with pain.

“Why is he here Edward? Is Bella with him?” I questioned. He shook his head slowly.

“Something’s wrong.” His tone came out unsteady, and I saw the look of rage in his eyes.

“Where did he go?” Alice asked him, glancing back to the forest,

“To change into his natural form.” He said.

Fear built into me like a wildfire. Something was wrong with Bella, Edwards love.

Tear’s built into my eyes. I was going to lose him, I already seen it coming. After all we have been through, and all I had suffered through for him to be mine, I was going to lose him.

I glanced back towards the woods, and saw Jacob walking towards us. I saw the look on Edwards face, and I began to fear for Jacob’s life. I knew the hatred Edward harbored for him. Jacob put his hands up in front of him as he approached us, as if to say he was here not to cause problems. Alice sneered, and crouched down. Edward appeared to be paralyzed. Not an inch of his body was moving.

“Whoa.” He said stopping a few yards from us, “Calm down now.” I looked at Edward and saw his jaw clench.

“Why are you here, dog?” He spit through gritted teeth.

Jacob walked closer to us, and I saw that he was tan, tall, and very handsome.

Though he was nothing compared to Edwards beauty. I pondered in my head how Bella could have taken him over Edward.

“You know why I’m here leech. Do you think I want to be here?” he sneered.

“Why do you want us to help you? Why now?” Edward asked pain replaced the anger on his face. I knew he was thinking about Bella.

“You see, you taking out that leech in Phoenix has caused us all a bit of a problem. She is back in Forks. We’ve been tracking her, and we haven’t been able to catch her.” Jacob said,

I saw his hands shaking violently. I pushed my guard away from my hand again, and entwined my fingers with Edward. He squeezed it so hard, I thought I felt a bone break but I didn’t make a sound. Jacob’s eyes traveled down to our entwined hands and he smirked.

“Well found another little leech lover huh?” I felt the rage shoot through my body at his apparent insult. I stood up straight, and glanced towards a small rock that was between his feet.

Lifting it up quickly with my eyes, and it smacked him straight in the chin. He jumped back, and his whole body was trembling.

“What was that? Which one of you did it?” I looked at him and smirked. Our eyes met and curiosity played on his features.

“I don’t think it would be a good idea to transform right now Jacob.” Alice said, glancing towards the door.

I looked up and saw Emmett and Rosalie standing in the doorway. Jacob noticed them too, and the trembling in his body reduced. He looked back to Edward.

“As I was saying, if you haven’t already gotten it out of my head, the bitch leech is back. She has a few more of your kind with her as well.” Sadness replaced his features and he glanced between us quickly,

“And they killed Seth, he was the youngest in our pack.” Edward sneered, still squeezing my hand hard.

“So what do you want with us?” He asked, I saw in his eyes that he was hurting. I knew he saw her in Jacobs thoughts, and I could feel him slipping through my fingers a little at a time.

“Because, we don’t want to risk losing more of us because you killed that bitches’ mate.” Edward got angry, and I heard a growl erupt from deep in his chest.

“Well, you know exactly why we killed her mate. You wouldn’t have Bella now, if we hadn’t have killed him.” I knew it killed him to refer to Bella with Jacob.

He let go of my hand, and took a step towards Jacob, and instead of backing away Jacob stepped closer. Jasper and Emmett had run over to us, and were standing on either side of Edward. Alice laid her hand on my shoulder gently.

“It’s okay Heaven.” She said. I was trembling from the fear of Bella coming back into Edward’s life.

Edward and Jacob were staring hard at each other. Jacob looked close to convulsions.

“Well want do you want us to do?” Jasper asked Jacob, I felt a sudden surge of calm run through me, and my legs stopped trembling.

“I need you to come to Forks. You need to come solve the problem that your family has created.”

“I’ll need to speak with my family about this.” I heard Edward say firmly.

Jacob nodded his head, his body began to trembled harder. He turned quickly and ran to the woods.

I pushed my guard away from everything but my head, and Edward walked over to me. He took me into his arms and hugged me tightly, squeezing me to where it became hard to breathe. I hugged him back, knowing what was going through his head. I had a horrible feeling in the pit of my stomach that I could not shake off. Releasing me, he turned to Jasper and Emmett.

“We need to go speak to Carlisle.” They bolted into the house, leaving me alone with Alice.

Once Edward was out of sight, I crumbled down against the car. Wrapping my arms around my legs I began to sob. Alice sat down next to me on the gravel.

“He’s going to leave me Alice. I know he is.” I looked up at her, my eyes filled with tears. She shook her head hard.

“No Heaven. He’s not.” She said.

“He will Alice, the second he see’s Bella, I will be gone from his mind. You know it just as well as I do.” She rubbed my back gently.

“At this point Heaven, he has chosen you. I think he will need you now more than ever.” She said quietly. I sobbed harder, I couldn’t handle the thought of losing him.

“Look’s like were not going dancing.” She said, in a small attempt at humor. I laughed lightly through my sobs.

“No I guess not.”

I stood up from where I was sitting and walked with Alice into the house. The family was seated and standing around the dining room table. Edward saw me. Standing up and walking to me quickly, he embraced me. I heard Carlisle and Jasper speaking to quickly for me to understand what they were saying.

Taking my hand Edward pulled me towards the table. I saw the look of disapproval on Rose’s face.

“We are really going to run to the rescue of that girl again?” She spit disdainfully. Carlisle looked at her with a serious expression,

“Rosalie, this is not about running to the rescue of Bella. This does not pertain to Bella at all. Our kind has killed a child. Seth Clearwater. There have been multiple killings in the Forks area. We are running to the rescue of the small town that we once lived in. Of people I once treated as patients.” She let out a small growl, and ran up the stairs. Emmett stood up quickly,

“How many are there Edward?” He questioned.

“From what I saw in Jacobs mind, there are at least seven.” He said..

“Newborns?” Jasper asked. Edward shook his head,

“I don’t think so. I didn’t get a clear image.” Carlisle stood up and took Esme’s hand.

“We need to get to Forks in the morning. We cannot wait until they kill more.”

I looked at Edward and saw the pain in his eyes.

“I’m coming with you.” I said quietly. Carlisle looked at me.

“Yes Heaven, I was going to request that you do. With your ability this could happen so much quicker and efficiently.” I felt a surge of gratitude that Carlisle had already intended to take me with them.

I looked outside and it was nearly completely dark now. I yawned and Edward wrapped his arm around my waist.

“Come with me to tell the dog that we are going.” He said quietly.

We walked outside and Edward stood on the porch. The large dog came running out of the woods to us. Hearing a noise behind me, I turned to see Emmett and Jasper standing in the doorway. Jacob, in his wolf form, came to a halting stop in front of us.

“We will be heading to Forks in the morning.” Edward said, he squeezed my hip hard, and it hurt. I knew he was channeling his rage into something other than the large dog standing in front of us. Jacob nodded his large head.

We watched as Jacob bolted back into the forest. Edwards hand was digging into my hip roughly still, and I pulled away from him.

“You’re hurting me Edward.” I said, he looked at me with his eyes full of anguish.

“I’m sorry.” He wrapped his arms around me gently and I laid my head on his shoulder. We sat like this for a minute, and I felt tears spring to my eyes. I had that uneasy feeling in my stomach that this was going to end soon. I was terrified.

Edward released me, grabbing my hand he pulled me into the house. Once in my room, he sat on the bed quietly. I tilted his chin up, to make him look into my eyes.

“Do you love me Edward? Even after you seen her in his head?” His eyes harbored guilt. He grabbed a hold of me and threw me on the bed next to him.

“I love you Heaven. I do.” He kissed me roughly, and I felt my shirt rip away from my body. He kissed my neck fervently, and I felt his teeth pierce my skin as he bit down hard. I felt him rip my jeans down my legs. He thrust into me so forcefully, I screamed out in pain. It was not the pleasurable pain I enjoyed. It hurt, badly. He took my scream as a plea for more, and thrust into me even harder. I screamed out again and tried to squirm my way out from under him. I felt his hands leaving bruises up and down my sides.

“STOP!” I screamed, and tears began to pour down my face. When he looked up at me, his eyes were wild. I pushed my guard away from my head quickly.

Edward please stop, your hurting me! My thoughts cried out.

He stopped abruptly and pulled himself off of me. He sat on the edge of the bed, and began to whimper. Looking at the bruises that had formed on my sides, which were slowly fading away, he caressed them gently. Laying his head on my stomach, his whimpers became more severe. I played with his hair, and caressed the side of his face.

“I’m so sorry… I don’t know what got into me. I’m so sorry.” He kissed my stomach lightly,

“I didn’t mean to hurt you Heaven. I’m so sorry. I‘m a monster.” His words sounded contorted. I breathed deeply.

You’re not a monster Edward.

“I can’t take it Heaven. I cannot handle seeing her again.” Immediately I let the warmth encircle my head, as my heart slowly and painfully broke into a million pieces.

“Then don’t go!” I nearly shouted.

“Carlisle made it clear that we are to protect Forks. I have no choice Heaven.”

Pushing him off of me I sat up quickly.

“But you do! Let those dogs handle it! Don’t go Edward! Please. I cannot lose you.” He looked at me pure anguish on his face.

“I have to go with my family Heaven. I have to.” Tears began to stream down my cheeks.

“Don’t leave me Edward. Please. I love you. I cannot live without you. If you see Bella again, you will no longer want me! You know this!” I knew I was pitiful begging and pleading him this, but I couldn’t help it. I loved him with every cell in my body. He looked at me in surprise,

“I will always want you Heaven. I’m yours.” I was taken back.

“Then why do you not want to see Bella, Edward? I know you still love her.” He lay back on the bed and stared at the ceiling blankly.

“I will love her always Heaven. Though my love for you is just as strong, but in a different way.” He breathed deeply, “I don’t want to feel the need for her as I once had. I don’t want my feelings to resurface and turn into the hateful monster that I once was. You changed me Heaven. You gave me happiness again. I don’t want to lose that, and it’s already slipping away.” I crawled over to him and laid my head on his chest.

“Don’t leave me Edward.” I whispered. He ran his hands through my hair, and we laid there in silence. Thinking about what was to come tomorrow, I slipped into a light sleep.

Further into the night, I felt Edward get out from under me and slide me under the covers. He kissed my cheek lightly.

“I’m going hunting, my love. I will be back to you in the morning.” I heard the door click behind him as he walked out. Rolling on to my back, I laid there with tears streaming down my cheeks for what seemed like hours. This was the first time he had ever left my bed at night. Once again, I fell into a restless sleep.
