The next morning I awoke to the sound of Edward packing a suitcase for me. I sat up slowly, and looked at him. He was frantic; his eyes had the same wild look as the night before. He glanced up at me, and tossed me some clothes.

“We are leaving in a half hour.” I got up slowly, and let the warmth encircle my head.

“Why do you keep doing that?” He said, I turned to look at him.

“Why don’t you want me to hear what you are thinking?” I could see anger creeping into his face.

“Because sometimes I like to think to myself? Is that alright with you?” I snapped. He looked down guiltily.

“I’m sorry.” He mumbled. I walked over to him and wrapped my arms around his neck.

“I love you, and I’m scared. I just need my thoughts to myself. It will be easier for both of us.” He gazed down into my eyes. Pressing my lips to his lightly, I turned and grabbed my clothes from the bed.

Once out of the shower, I dressed quickly and walked downstairs. The entire family was seated in the living room talking hastily. Carlisle looked up to me.

“Heaven, come have a seat.” He said, I walked over and sat down next to him on the couch.

“When we arrive to Forks, I want you to cover yourself entirely. Do not let your guard down, at all? Do you understand?” I nodded my head.

“We do not know what we are dealing with, and we cannot risk you getting hurt. Alright?” I nodded my head again.

“What about you guys?” I questioned quietly. Emmett roared with laughter and I saw a small smirk on Jaspers lips.

“Don’t you worry about us Heaven. We’ll do just fine. You worry about yourself.” Jasper said. I saw Alice’s hand in his, and I could tell she was nervous. Carlisle stood up.

“Alright, let’s get going. Edward, Heaven I want you to take the Volvo. Alice and Jasper with be riding with you. Esme, Rosalie, Emmett and I will take my car. I want this to be as inconspicuous as possible.”

Once seated in the car, I turned to Edward,

“How long is it going to take for us to get there Edward?” I asked him.

“Around four hours. Much less if there is no traffic.”

Pulling out of the garage, he began to drive very fast. I had my guard wrapped securely around my body. The drive to Forks was long and silent. None of us saying a word. I became very thankful for Jaspers presence, he reduced the tension greatly. Though it didn’t help much when I saw the sign telling us we were coming into Forks. My stomach was full of anticipation, and my hands began to tremble.

I looked over at Edward who had the phone to his ear.

“Carlisle, are we meeting them at the border?” He questioned, and then hung up quickly.

“What border Edward?” I asked, he glanced towards me.

“The border to the Quileute Reservation. I’ll explain later.” I turned to stare out the window again.

“Does Jacobs father know we are here?” I heard Alice ask.

“He is who requested us.” He said

The town of Forks was small, even smaller than Eatonville. We continued through the town and drove awhile longer until Edward pulled off to the side of the road. I saw Carlisle slow to a stop behind us in the rearview mirror. We sat there in silence that I didn’t dare break.

I saw a red truck driving towards us. I heard a growl erupt from Edward’s chest, and my hands began to tremble even more. He reached over quickly, and I pushed my guard away from my hand and he took it into his own.

The truck slowed to a stop and pulled over a few yards in front of us. I saw Jacob get out of the drivers seat. Someone was in the passenger seat, and I said a silent prayer that it was not Bella. Another man, just as tall as Jacob got out. I glanced in the side mirror and watched Carlisle step out of his car. He walked over to Jacob and the other man. They talked for a few moments, and Carlisle proceeded back to his car. Jacob and the man got back into the truck and turned around.

We began to follow them, driving much slower than usual. Edward kept his fingers laced with mine, and I could feel the tension his hand. I knew that we were getting closer and closer to seeing Bella from the panicked look on his face. We drove for a short while longer, and pulled up in front of a small house.

“Where are we Edward?” I questioned.

“Sam Uley’s, He’s what you would call the Alpha of their pack.”

He let go of my hand, and we stepped out of the car. Immediately he was by my side, and we walked slowly up to the truck where Jacob and Sam had gotten out. Carlisle was already standing there speaking with them.

“How many are there Sam?” He questioned. Sam‘s tone was deep,

“We believe there are 6. Possible more. I hope you understand that if it were not at the request of Billy Black, we would not be acquiring your help.” Carlisle nodded his head in understanding,

“They killed our youngest, Seth. Billy wants to risk no more.” Edward snorted sarcastically. Sam’s eyes shot toward him quickly.

“Something funny?” He questioned, I could hear the use of authority in his tone. Edward shook his head, but a small smile played on his lips. I felt a wave of calm come over me, and I turned around to look at Jasper with thankful eyes.

“When was your last sighting of them Sam?” Alice’s small voice rang out from behind me.

“Late last night, they tried to approach Jacobs.”

“Well how do you want to go about this Sam?” Carlisle questioned, Jacob stepped forward.

“We would like to corner them, trap them. They have been approaching my house every night, but always manage to get away. They are very fast.” He glanced at Edward.

I knew why they were approaching his house, and I saw the pain in Edward’s eyes. I could tell he was thinking about Bella in Jacob’s bed. I shot Jacob a dirty look; he knew the pain he was putting Edward through. He was doing it intentionally.

Sneering back at me, he turned to Carlisle again.

“They will catch our scent Jacob; they will know it is not wise of them to approach while we are here.” Carlisle said.

“We will be in wolf form Carlisle. Our smell and yours lingering together should confuse them. We have a rough idea that at least 5 of them are newborns, maybe a year old.” Carlisle nodded his head.

“Then this should not be a challenge. All except Victoria. She will not be confused. Though I do understand your request to have us here. I’m sorry about the death of your youngest.” Sam nodded his head, and I could see the hurt reflecting in his eyes.

We went inside Sam’s home, and once we were seated in the living room, everyone began to plan what was going to happen.

“We will make a large circle around Jacob’s home. Edward will be able to hear if you catch a scent.”

“It would be a good idea for us to pair off.” Carlisle suggested.

“Yes, I think that would be a good idea Carlisle.” I looked between Edward and Carlisle.

“I’m not as fast as you guys though? What role do you expect me to play in this?” I asked.

Jacob looked at me, and I could see his mind working,

“Why don’t you have a scent?” He asked me. I stuttered for a moment, unsure of what to say, Carlisle came to my aid.

“Heaven is special Jacob; she has no scent to us either.” Jacob raised his eyebrows, and Carlisle went on to explain my abilities.

“So, nobody can touch you? Regardless of strength?” He asked me, I shook my head.

“Well I know what you can do.” He folded his arms across his chest and sat back, pleased with himself.

Edward’s eyes darted across the room.

“Do you honestly think that would be necessary Jacob?”

“Would you please let us in on the conversation?” Emmett said. Edward continued to glare at Jacob,

“Jacob thinks it would be a good idea for Heaven to put on some of Bella’s clothing, to lure them in. He thinks they won‘t know the difference because Heaven has no scent.” Carlisle looked towards Jacob surprised.

“Well Jacob, that is a rather good idea…” He trailed off after noticing the look on Edwards face.

I didn’t know how I felt about wearing Bella’s clothing. I wanted to help my family, but I didn’t know if I wanted to go to that length. I knew I would be risking my relationship with Edward even more, but that was inevitable.

“Will it make this quicker?” I questioned. Edward looked at me in surprise, and Carlisle clapped his hands together.

“Yes, I believe it will. They will come directly to you, and we will be waiting for them.”

“Then I’ll do it.” I said quickly. Jacob smiled widely.

“I’ll be back in a while.” He said standing up. Edward followed him with his eyes.

I pushed the warmth down to my chest, Can we talk? I thought. Glancing over to me, his eyes were blank. He nodded and stood up, I followed him out the front door, the truck was already gone.

We got into his car, and sat in silence for a few moments.

“I just want this over Edward.” I said, “Do you think I want to smell like her? Wear her clothes?”

He looked at me, and I saw that I had hurt him.

“He is going to try to get her to come back here with him.” It felt like my entire body had fallen into ice water. “He wants me to see that she is happy with him, and not me.” He laid his head on the steering wheel.

“Are you happy with me Edward?” I questioned. He nodded his head slowly, and looked up at me.

“Of course I’m happy with you Heaven, but that doesn’t make me happy with this situation.” He said.

I knew I was losing him. I knew the second she walked through that door I would be gone from his mind. She was going to want him again. How could she not? I was sure of that. I knew what I had to do.

I got out of the car and walked inside slowly. Fighting back the tears and the lump in my throat I took a seat on the couch next to Alice. Looking at me with fearful eyes, she tried to touch my arm, and I shook my head.
