Jacob quickly put my bags in the trunk of his red Volkswagen and sat me in the passenger's seat. As soon as he got into the driver's seat he turned on the ignition and engine roared as he drove fast away from the boarding school.
I felt so relieved that Jacob decided to bust me out of that purgatory hell. I can't believe my dad would throw such a tantrum over my surprising wardrobe I wore to school. It wasn't even my fault! Aunt Alice should be the one in that stupid school sitting in those desks dressed up like a nun. That would be a real punishment for her. The thought of Alice wearing plaid made smile.
"What's so funny?" Jake asked as he grinned at me.
"Nothing, I'm just really glad you got me out of that place. So where are we going?" I asked curious of where our next destination was.
"Well, since I think it'd be a bad idea to go to your house," he laughed at the thought. "I thought we should go down to La Push where it's a blood-sucker free zone," he winked.
"You know Jake, if you didn't already know I'm half a blood-sucker when you think about it," I stated.
"True but the rules don't apply with you," he said.
"Sure, sure," I said in my best Jacob impersonation.
We got to First beach and Jake parked his car on the edge of the cliff. We didn't get out of the car since it started to rain. I snuggled closer to Jacob and rested my head on his shoulder. It felt nice being with Jake. Even though there's this Vampires against Werewolves war between us, that didn't matter. When I was with Jake it just him and I, and nothing else mattered. Nothing. Not even the fact that my cell phone started to buzz in my bag.
"Aren't you going to get that?" Jacob sighed.
"It's probably my annoying over-protective father," I said through my teeth.
I reluctantly grabbed angrily the small silver phone from my bag and opened it. It was a text message from the one and only. I read it and it said:
Hi sweetie, just wanted to know how school's going. Your mother wants to see you again so we might stopping by later to see you. I love you.
Crap. Oh well, I guess this calls for a life-time's servitude of me being grounded permanently. I kept staring at the little screen in wide horror. Jake probably noticed my reaction and started shaking my shoulders trying to snap me out of it.
"Ness, what's wrong? Let me see what the message says," Jake held out his hand for the phone and I gave it to him slowly still staring straight forward as if I were frozen.
"I'm going to be in big trouble Jake if you don't drive me back the school," I finally said.
"No way, I'm not taking you back to that death chamber full of weirdoes," he said stubbornly.
"But Jake - "
"No. I'm going to drive you over to your house and I'm going to have a little talk with your father," he interrupted.
Before I was about to say anything, he spun the car around fiercely which made the ancient engine roar with intensity. He stomped on the gas pedal and drove off extremely fast leaving the leaves from trees of the forest swaying in the wind. I clutched on to the seat tightly thinking about what awaited for me when we got to the house. Surely Dad had no intention to let me hang out with Jake after he finds out what he did. And I'm sure Jacob wouldn't have any problem to opposing that.
We got to the house and I could already hear my Dad's screams in my head. My heart started to accelerate as Jake opened the car door for me. He noticed my jumpiness and held my hand tightly as we walked to the front door.
