Chapter Three: A Brilliant Matchmaking Plan

Alice POV

~O~O~O~O~

Nervously, I tapped my purple pen on the desk. I couldn't help my anxiousness. A vision of an angry Bella was kicking my curiosity and concern into overdrive. Maybe a little girl talk would help both of us. Yeah, that was probably what we both needed right now. Lucky for us, we both have gym class together.

Jasper was trying to pay attention to the teacher's lecture, but my emotions made it mighty hard to concentrate.

“Sorry Jazz.” I whispered, trying to calm my emotions.

“It’s alright, darlin'. What’s the matter? You seem anxious.” He replied in the same hushed tone I had used.

“I had a vision of Bella in English class...”

“And?” He prompted.

“Well, she seemed very unhappy, and a tad bit annoyed with Edward. I have to see her as soon as class is over.”

“Why is she-”

Ignoring his question, I went on. “If she is mad at him, how is our master plan supposed to work? Knowing Bella, she would try to evade Edward for time and all eternity.” I looked at the possibility and came to the conclusion that if Bella avoided Edward, then our plan--which had Edward never agreed to--wouldn't work. “We are definitely in need of a girl talk.” I concluded.

The bell rang, and before Jasper had a chance to get out his seat, I gave him a quick peck on the cheek, and ran out of the classroom.

Although the bell had sounded two minutes ago, the teacher was still preparing.. I looked at my wrist watch, and counted the seconds while tapping my foot.

I had promised Edward I would stay out of his feelings for Bella, but after I learned how he felt about her I wanted to help. If he had let me help years ago Bella and he would have been a couple by now. But No.. He has to be as stubborn as a mule and think he could deal with his feelings himself.

The class was finally dismissed, and the door opened. A girl with long brown curls sped out of the room. I instantly knew it was Bella. Where could Edward be? I shrugged and walked towards her, trying to catch up. I heard the crowed of students spill out of the classroom behind me. I decided to call out her name to grab her attention.

“Bella!” I squealed, waving my hand from side to side in hopes she would wait for me. She was moving so fast. If I hadn't known any better, I would have thought her to be a vampire. To bad I had to keep the pretense of being human, or I would have run to catch up. “Bella,” I said sounding more like a question this time.

“Alice,” She said, not stopping, “Do you mind if we go straight to class?” I nodded, and walked next to her quietly until we had reached our destination.

We went straight to the lockers, and changed without exchanging a single word. I wanted her to feel comfortable before she spoke.

After failing at attempting to play volleyball, Bella decided to sit out.

“Come on Alice! You can't just quit.” One of my team mates pleaded.

“Sorry! I’m to tired.” I informed them. I walked to the bleachers, where Bella was sitting, and sat next to her. Not really wanting to wait any longer, I asked, “Can we talk now?” A smile krept up on her heart-shaped face, and I couldn’t help but smile back. She nodded, but said nothing. “Okay, what’s wrong?”

“Ali, I...” I looked at her expectantly, but again she didn’t utter a word. I waited. “Ugh! This day hasn’t gone as well as I thought it would.” She huffed.

“Does this have to do with the new girl?” I asked, patting her back.

“No....Well, Yes. I think.” She looked like she was thinking of something before continuing, “I mean, you should have seen the way she looked at Edward,” I nodded. I had. “and then to top it all off, the teacher had the bright idea to assign us a project.”

“Let me guess, he paired her with Ed.”

“Yes! Can you believe that?” She said, a little too loud. Bella was blushing furiously.

“So does this mean that...you know?” I asked her poking her on the sides.

“No. I don’t know what your talking about.” She responded turning shade of red I have witnessed too many times. I rolled my eyes, knowing she knew exactly what I was talking about. We have discussed her feelings towards Edward a lot, but she has always avoided actually declaring herself.

“Does it mean you are jealous of that girl...what’s her name?”

“Lauren. Lauren Mallory.” She mocked. I giggled. Yep, she is definitely jealous. “And no, I’m not jealous! I just think Edward deserves someone more...well, more. Yes, someone better.” She added.

“If you say so, Bella. If you say so.”

Getting up from our seats, I twirled my way to the locker room.

Now knowing that Bella has feelings for Edward, my matchmaking plan, which has been held in reserve for a moment such as this, can finally commence. Now, all I have to do is hope that Edward agrees to it. Why shouldn't he? It is a brilliant strategy!
