The two men stood themselves in a row, blocking the door so there was no possible way out. Well not for someone as weak as me anyway. Their faces composed and ready for possible attack.

I tried to block off my sense of hearing, I couldn’t stand it of they said Edwards name. Please, let them not say his name. I know it completely selfish of me to think like that, but it was the truth. I couldn’t live in here without him by my side, stroking my hair, saying my name; the thought was unbearable.

“Cullen!” the man shouted loudly.

My heart skipped a beat. What was I going to do without Edward.

“Jasper,” he shouted again.

I was then put at ease, Edward would stay with me, and Jasper could get out of this horrid place, once and for all.

Jasper rose slowly from the cold floor, his hands quivering with nervousness.

“No,” he said clearly.

What?!? What the hell was he doing? This was finally his chance to get out of this unforgettable place. Why was he turning the offer down? Offer, ha. This was the furthest thing from an offer, this was a demand. He had no choice either way, this was his fate.

“Jasper!” the man shouted again, ignoring his first protest.

“No!” he shouted louder and clearer. I could feel all the eyes in the room swivel until they were on his face.

“Go Jasper,” Alice whispered.

“No!” he shouted again. “Take Alice! She deserves to get out of this place more. Take her!”

Pure love. Jasper was risking his only chance to get out for here for his soul mate. Thoughtful. I could see the agony in Jaspers eyes if he were to leave Alice behind.

The two men walked quickly from their positions and over to Jasper. What were they going to do to him? The last thing I wanted right now was to see someone get hurt, at least not a friend. Even though I had only known Jasper for five months at the most, and spoken to him for two hours, he was still considered a good friend. I could confide in him and tell him secrets, well at least I’d like to think so.

The two man grabbed Jasper by the arms and started to pull him across the room violently. Jasper protested and did all he could in his will power to break free of these evil men, but it didn’t work. Their grip was made of steel and it looked like nothing could break free of it. Poor Jasper.

I looked over to Alice, she had her head buried into Edward’s arm, sobbing in sadness. Edward’s other hand, the one which wasn’t still in mine, was stroking her short, black hair, trying to calm her down.

The next six months were agony. Watching Alice mope around like the whole world had crashed down right onto of her head, I couldn’t bare looking. I tried, more times than possible, to try and cheer her up, but it was really no use. The thought of Jasper getting hurt - that’s what haunted Alice.

Her whole appearance had now changed with Jasper’s leaving. Her hair no longer spiked in every direction, instead it fell limp over her face. Her eyes no longer held that blue shade of hope, instead her eyes were blank. And she never smiled, her mouth was now permanently frozen into a sob. I felt so helpless when I was around her, not even her random visions cheered her up anymore.

After dinner I sat in Edward’s half of the room, to see if I was any help to make Alice better…I think you can guess the answer to that one. Instead of trying to butt into her personal agony, I sat and watched her fall silently asleep. Although, sometimes I would hear the occasional sob.

Edward sat motionless beside me, staring at Alice with his perfect jade eyes. His brow creased, as if her was too far in thought. His flawless hand still remained in mine.

“Edward, what if you leave?” I panicked. “You know that it will be years before I come out.”

Edward‘s brow creased. “No matter how long you stay in here, I’ll always wait for you,” Edward whispered.

“But, that’s the problem. You shouldn’t wait for me. You’ve got far better things to do than wait for a worthless human,” I mumbled.

“A worthless human?” he questioned, with anger in his voice. “Is that what you think you are? Bella, you’re not worthless, infact you’re far from it. Why can’t you see that? I love you, no matter how long you stay in here.”

“I love you too.” I leaned my head against his chest, the heat was seeping through his t-shirt.

“I’ll always love you,” he muttered. Then he kissed the top of my head.

My heart kicked up a notch. This is the first time Edward had kissed me, even though it was just my hair.

I fell asleep with my head on his warm chest, my dreams were heavenly. Just the way I liked them. Just me and Edward, that’s how I always wanted it to be.

“I told you I’d wait,” Edward said. His arms were wrapped around my waist pulling me closer to him.

“I would of waited for you too,” I said, even though my face was buried deep in his chest.

He then unwound one of his hands from around my waist and brought it to my face, lifting it until I was on his eye level. All too quickly he pressed is perfect lips down to mine. W-O-W! Our lips moved together, passionately, I never wanted this to end. Then all too quickly he pulled away.

“Don’t stop,” I whispered in protest.

Then he kissed my forehead, and I sigh with defeat.

“You know how they say life is short. They say you wake up one day and, on that day, all your dreams, and everything you wish for in the world is gone. Just like that. People get old and things change, situations change. What I want is just…I want this moment, this day,” Edward whispered in my ear. “My feelings for you - the way you look right now. The way
I look at you. I just want this to last forever.”

“And it will,” I whispered back. “No matter what, we’ll always have this. Have each other. Nothing can change that. No matter what, you’ll always have someone here for you. Always. I’m never going to leave you…I’m never going to leave you. I love you.” I hugged him tighter.

“I know.”

“Don’t ever leave me,” I begged.

“I won’t,” he promised.

And then once more he brought his perfect lips down to mine. I kissed back, wanting this moment to last forever.

“Edward?” I said with my eyes still closed.

I searched for his hand, but all I could feel was the cold bare floor. I opened my eyes, and waited a minute for my sight to adjust, the light was blinding. But, even when I could see perfectly clearly, he wasn’t there. Neither was Alice.

I panicked and shot up from the floor, standing on the balls of my feet. All I could see around me were the people I saw everyday, the people that hadn’t been saved. Where had Edward and Alice gone? My mind could only come up with one answer. The fine had been paid, they had gone home.

It was when I was pacing that my foot came across bump in the floor, out of habit I looked down. Engraved on the floor was an message:

'Look after my heart, I left it with you. Edward x'

I froze in shock.
