A New Start

When Alice returns to Forks in New Moon she tells Charlie that he should send Bella to a boarding school in England (because Bella failed 12th grade). Bella starts a whole new life in England including a new wardrobe that is to Alice's liking. What if a certain vampire shows up in England? What if What Hurts the Most caused a worldwide sensation? What does a bunny have to do with all of this? "I had been hurt over and over by him. I had accepted countless apologies but this was too much." Chapter 13

I turned to Edward. He smiled but that faded when he saw the eyes. He turned to Carlisle.

“Bella are you thirsty?” He asked. I knew that he meant blood but I wasn’t bloodthirsty.

“Yes. I would like some water.”

Everyone laughed but stopped when they realized that I was dead serious. Edward got me some water, and it successfully quenched my thirst. Everyone gasped as they witnessed my eyes turning amber as if I had just drank a large grizzly.

“You don’t need to be afraid of humans. You don’t need blood to sustain yourself.” said Carlisle who was in doctor mode now.

“Good.” I replied as I let out an unneeded breath I didn’t know I had been holding.

“That’s probably why your transformation only took a day and a half. Are there any other changes Bella?” he asked

“I can remember all my human memories, but in a vampire sense and,” I sang a couple of bars, “I apparently still have my human singing voice.”

“Is she really a vampire then?” asked Edward. Everybody turned to Carlisle for the answer.

“Yes. She has all the characteristics of a vampire except for the memories and her non-bloodthirstiness.” He said with reassurance.

All of a sudden Alice’s eyes glazed over and she started to dry sob.

“My bunny is going to die soon because of over cuteness.” Everyone laughed including me. “It’s not funny.” She wailed.

For some unknown reason I started to cry for the bunny I never met. I actually cried.

“Ahhh,” said Carlisle, “That’s why you need the water. You have the ability to cry. Edward?”

“Yes?” Edward asked.

“Can you read Bella’s mind?”

“Bella you are also a shield. You can block any power that has to do with the mind. Alice’s and Jasper’s gifts still work on you because Alice’s is based on your decisions and Jasper’s manipulates your emotions. But Edward’s gift works in your mind.” He said answering my unspoken questions.

I was a superhero! I laughed at the irony.

“What if I’m not the good guy?” Came to my mind from years ago. I successfully pushed the shield from my mind, with a bit of difficulty since I had never done it before and had no idea what I was doing, and shared my thoughts with Edward in a private and silent conversation. He then laughed and shared this tidbit with the family who all laughed along with us.

“Bella!” came the sing-song voice from the spiky haired ball of energy. (Clearly over her bunny). I threw myself out the window and ran from the shop-crazy pixie. Edward followed me, and we ran together to the meadow. When we had stopped he sighed: “You are amazing.”

“I know,” I said smugly since I had beat him to the meadow.

We both laughed as we laid in the meadow together. We sat there silently for who knows how long until I decided to tell Edward something that would change both of our lives forever.
