ON HIATUS FOR MAJOR REWRITES AND TO COMPLETE STORY Before anyone gets too excited – if anyone is even still interested in this story – I’m taking it down to rework it. I’ve been stuck for so long and part of it is because I backed myself into this extremely complicated corner. I’ve been struggling for many months now with whether to just discontinue the story, try to collaborate with someone, or just bite the bullet and try to finish it. Not to worry though. I finally made the decision to finish it in its entirety, so hopefully the new improved and COMPLETED story will be better than it was. My plan is to finish the entire story before reposting so when it is ready, it will be ready, and no one will have to worry about how flakey I am, lol! Before anyone asks, no I don’t have a timeframe for when I plan to repost, so thanks in advance for all of your patience. Thanks to mylittlebakersdozen for listening to my rants about what to do. She is a fantabulous fanfic writer, and you should check out her story, Model Student, www.fanfiction.net/s/5697704/1/Model_Student, and I’m not saying that just because I beta the story, lol! It’s really sweet and a lot of fun, so get to it and read her stuff while you’re waiting for me ; )

Prologue

I had been walking among the trees for a long time trying to make sense of the feelings and thoughts that were battling each other in my mind. The quiet solitude of the forest usually allows me an escape from the chaos of the minds and thoughts of those around me. On this day however, I found it much harder to calm my mind enough to think clearly. My emotions were on overdrive, and I was not quite sure what to do with myself. After one hundred years of stillness, I felt like the whole world would be able to hear the rapid thumping of my cold, dead heart.

I laughed softly to myself. "She is not even with me, but just the thought of her is enough...enough to make me feel like I am human again. In all my years on this earth, my worldliness, knowledge and culture have not prepared me for this moment in my immortal life-the discovery of my love for another, the discovery of my love for a human, a human whose blood sings to me.

How can I knowingly endanger the one person who has given me so much more than she will ever know? Am I willing to risk losing the unwavering trust and friendship she has imparted to me for so long? Since the first moment I held her in my arms, my scope of reality dramatically changed. She taught me acceptance-both of myself and of my place in this world; instilling in me a new sense of confidence and young idealistic hope for the future. She opened my eyes to a completely new world filled with love and joy. This is ludicrous! In what world can I deny that I have had such a strong connection with her from the moment I found her all those years ago?! She was so young, so alone, so scared-but never scared of the one thing she should be."

As the battle in my mind continued to play out I approached the clearing of our meadow. I was so wrapped up in my own indecision that I had not noticed my internal dialogue was being interrupted by someone else's thoughts. Then I was hit head on by her scent-that alluring, intoxicating scent I loved so much. That is when I realized the thoughts floating through my mind were not just anyone's thoughts. They were her thoughts.

"How can I make Edward understand? How can I tell the one person that has been the constant in my life, my guardian, my protector, my teacher, and my friend...how can I tell him that...No. He will not understand. He refuses to see what is so obvious to the rest of us: that he does have a soul, that he has not lost his humanity, that he is not a monster.

He will not comprehend how deeply I feel for him. There are no words to express; no actions I possess, nothing I can give that will be enough...enough to show him that everything happens for a reason in both life and in death. Call it destiny or fate-we were meant to find each other, of this, I am absolutely certain. I have always, and will always love Edward Cullen, my hero, my savior, my dark angel...I must show him the light."

That was all I needed. My decision had been made for me. I walked into the clearing. "Bella?"
