"I am going hunting, if I may?" I asked. He nodded.

"Do you need assistance?"

"I thought it was supposed to be an instinct," I said.

"It is but sometimes young vampires need help finding their prey" I shrugged.

"I'll see how I do and return if I need help"

"Take a horse and ride to the forests. Tie it up and start hunting away from the horse," Jack told me. I left the room and went to the stables.

"Logan" I said as he rose.

"Since when do you call me ma'am?"

"Since you became the wife of my employer. Ma'am"

"I need a horse"

"Indeed" he handed me the reins of a caramel coloured mare.

"Have you found out anymore about your family?"

"I am sure I don't know what you mean," I said. I leapt onto the horse and rode out of the castle gates. It felt strange. I hadn't been out for so long. I tied the horse to a tree. I knew that Jack probably put a watch on his horses or something to know their location. I hunted briefly on some deer, and then I released the horse, sending it away from me.

I washed in the river and left. I ran (it was exhilarating) to the nearest village. I had snaffled some contacts for my eyes from a storage closet full of stuff for vampires who wanted to integrate. I had no cash and if I wanted to get to the Med, I had to get some. I had to sell the necklace. I did stand out a bit in my dress so, I could sell that (I just had to find something to wear while I sold it. I wasn't wandering around nude!) I unclasped the necklace and went into an antique store.

"Excuse me?"

"Yes" said the clerk.

"How much is this necklace worth?" I said, handing it to him.

"This is solid silver. And it's old. It's worth at least a couple of thousand"

"Will you buy it?" I asked.

"I would be honoured" he said, "I'll give you two thousand pounds for it"

"Sure" that'd be enough for a flight to the Med and then a boat ride to the island. He gave me the cash and I headed out. I went to a shop and bought some cheap clothing. I kept the dress. I went and found an internet café. I book a flight to the Med and left. I would run to the airport. Surprisingly I hadn't been that bothered by the smell of humans. Oh well. I was weird.

I landed in the med and headed for a port.

"Me dispensa?" I said to a boat owner (I knew he owned a boat because he was cleaning it)

"Sí? cómo puedo yo le ayudo?" he replied.

"Necesito para ser tomado a la Isla Seleccionada. ¿Me tomará usted?" I asked. The moment I spoke, his expression changed to fear.

"Usted no debe ir allí. Las criaturas habitan esa isla.
Demonios malos. Vampiros! ninguno que va allí jamás el regreso" he spat out the words. Why was it, when they lived in the centre of things, no one noticed yet when they lived apart everyone knew what they were?

"Hay ninguno quién me tomará? Necesito para ir allí, para ser muy importante" I pleaded.

"Hay uno. Ella le tomará. Abajo al fin en el barco llamó la estrella Negra. Tenga cuidado de ella. Sus niños fueron robados por los demonios, su hija hace tres años, y su hijo hace un mes. Yo no enviaría a un niño como usted hacia ella. pero sólo ella se le tomará a los diablos aterrizan" he told me. I nodded.

"Gracias. Tendré cuidado" at least he hadn't noticed that I was a vampire. Then I realized something else. I'd only ever known the basics of Spanish. Yet when I'd spoken to him, the language had flown easily over my tongue. I walked along the pavement until I reached a large, dark boat. A lady was sitting on the edge. She was wearing a dark dress and a black ribbon tied round her wrist.

"Me dispensa?" I said. She looked at me.

"Usted quiere ir a la isla Seleccionada. Usted sabe los peligros y ninguno pero mí le tomará" she said. How did she know this? Slightly freaked out now. She jumped down from the side so she was on the deck.

"Venga en entonces. yo le tomaré" she said. I boarded the boat. She set sail. We reached the shore.

"Adiós. yo le veré una vez más cuando uno el reino del muerto" that woman, was officially freaky. I got off the boat. I walked along the sandy path.

"Stop," cried a voice "Who are you?" I turned hesitantly.
