I laid on my bed, dressed for school but not motivated to go downstairs. It was Friday, the last day of school for the week.
Edward had climbed out of my window 20 minutes previously, and would be pulling up momentarily to drive me to school.
Oh How I wish we didn't have those pretenses anymore!
My arm was healing nicely after the accident at my birthday. I just had a small jagged scar and one very apologetic Jasper, and one very protective boyfriend.
Edward never left my side when we were with his family. Actually he barely left my side at all. Not that I had any complaints. We spent almost every waking minute together, and of course he spent every night in my room, leaving to hunt only after I was asleep.
Charlie was dealing with his presence in my life, although he still hadn't completely forgiven him for the fact that I had run away to Phoenix. It seemed better now, I believe mostly due to the fact that Edward never did more than hold my hand and kiss my cheek when Charlie was around.
Speaking of Charlie, he was scheduled to leave today for a conference in Victoria, Canada. Before he accepted, he arranged for Esme, Alice and Rosalie to 'baby sit' me while he was gone. Edward had of course masterminded this plan by reading Charlie's mind. Later that night, Edward happened to mention a weekend camping trip that the boys in his family were taking. Charlie was so happy, that he could safely leave me, that he was nearly dancing. Victoria meant one thing to Charlie, new fishing grounds.
Of course what Charlie didn't know was the fact that the Cullens were heading away for the weekend, all of the Cullens, except for Edward.
It was going to be Edward and I alone all weekend. I couldn't wait!
Charlie really didn't have anything to worry about. My boyfriend, the love of my entire existence, was the most moral person ever.
I just liked the idea of spending two days with him, with no interruptions. No sensitive hearing nosy vampires, no snoring police chiefs and no school mates to annoy us for two whole days.
"Hey Beautiful. Are you coming to school today?" he asked, appearing silently in my room.
"I guess so." I said holding my hand out to him so he could pull me up. He kissed each fingertip and then lightly kissed my palm before pulling me up and into his arms. My heart beat at it's maniacal racing pace as it always did when he touched me. I pulled him in closer and wrapped my arms around his neck.
I could spend forever just like this!
His tongue traced a path on my lower lip before they willingly parted for him and he pulled me into a mind bending, heart stopping kiss.
"We are never going to make it to school at all if you keep kissing me like that." he said, laughing softly.
"Who needs school?" I said burying my head in his chest and inhaling his scent.
"You do silly girl. It's your first time as a senior." he said kissing the tip of my nose. He pulled me up into his arms, bridal style, and carried me down the stairs only setting me down at the door so that the neighbors didn't see him carrying me to the car.
I grabbed his hand and we ran out into the rain towards his car.
I couldn't wait for today to be over so our weekend could start.
School seemed to drag on, slower than usual, the only thing that made it bearable was the beautiful god-like creature that sat next to me in every class. And, I could not possibly forget the little pixie that charmed us all. Alice was in 3 classes with us and sat with us at lunch.
She was so excited to go on this hunting trip, apparently Jasper had somehow managed a surprise for her and she kept looking to see what it was. So far with no luck.
"Arggg! Why can't I see anything?" she groaned in frustration.
"Surprises are good things aren't they, Alice?" I asked her in response.
"I guess," she answered still sulking.
"And Jasper would never do anything horrible to you, would he?" I continued.
"No," she answered, still pouting, though it had lightened considerably.
"And since you can't see anything now.... maybe you could try to wait and let him just surprise you?" I asked, knowing I was pushing my luck.
"Nice try, Bella, but I'm not giving up," she said, as she began to search her visions again.
Finally, the last bell rang and we all dashed to the parking lot and climbed into the Volvo.
Apparently, all three of us were anxious to get started with our weekend plans.
Edward dropped Alice at the base of the driveway and drove me home. He dropped me at the door and I rushed upstairs to pack my bag. As I raced back down the stairs I dropped my bag by the door and went into the kitchen to cook a quick dinner. I was so excited to get going I threw together a pot of spaghetti and a salad. Just as I was putting the food on the plates Charlie came home.
"You know, Bells, you must be a mind reader." he said. "How is it that you always manage to get dinner on the table just as I get home."
"No mind reader, Dad. You're just predictable." I smiled at him.
He grinned at me and sat at the table digging into the food. We ate in silence as always. As I was clearing the plates he said, "I should be home late on Sunday. Are you staying with the Cullens until Sunday night or Monday?"
"Ummm Monday I think. Edward and the boys aren't back until Tuesday so it's just us girls," I told him, knowing it would be sunny on Monday and Tuesday. Sometimes having a friend with a built in weather detector was very convenient.
"Okay Bells, I better hit the road if I am going to make the ferry," he told me.
"Bye, Dad, see you Monday," I said, giving him a quick hug.
I finished cleaning the kitchen quickly and dashed upstairs to double check that I had everything. I wish he would just hurry up and leave.
It was just a few minutes later when I heard the front door slam. No sooner did I hear Charlie's car pulling the driveway, when I heard Alice at the door.
"You better be ready!!! This surprise stuff is killing me," she yelled, bouncing up and down.
"Of course I'm ready. Let's go," I said. For once I was just as excited as my hyper little best friend. Okay maybe not quite as excited, but close anyways.
The Cullens were all ready to go by the time Alice got me back to their house. Jasper sprung the first part of his surprise on Alice as soon as we walked in the door. Two plane tickets.... destination Paris.
"EEEEEKKKK!!!!" Alice screamed. "How did I not see this?"
"I bought them for Jasper and Mary Whitlock. Not for my nosy pixie wife Mary Alice Brandon Hale Cullen ..." he said smirking at her.
"Wow three days in Paris!! I haven't been there in months!!!" she squealed, jumping up and down.
"Uhhh we'll actually be there for two weeks. It is our anniversary you know," he told her
"Of course I know but I just didn't expect..... oh Jasper," she sprung into his arms and wrapped her legs around his waist hugging him tightly.
"I never thought I would see a day when Alice would be speechless," said Emmett.
We all laughed except for Jasper and Alice who were so caught up in their own little world that they were completely oblivious to Emmett's comment.
Without so much as a goodbye, Alice and Jasper ran out the back door to Carlisle's Mercedes and drove off into the night, leaving me more than a little stunned. Alice was usually a stickler for long poignant goodbyes.
Carlisle, Esme, Rosalie and Emmett headed out the front door as Edward snaked his arms around my waist. We were so close to being alone!
"Don't do anything I wouldn't do, Little Brother," Emmett called out to Edward.
Edward growled and I looked up at him and asked, "Is there anything Emmett wouldn't do?"
Emmett laughed as I heard them disappearing into the night. We were finally alone.
"So," I asked him. "What do you want to do?"
He didn't say a word, but before I could add anything he grabbed me in his arms and raced up the stairs to his room.
Hmmm! Maybe I'd really enjoy this weekend!!
