When it Rains
Bella returns to Forks after being away for 3 years. Lots of questions form. Secrets are reviled, & hearts are broken. Who's the father of Bella's baby? And how does Charlie know about werewolves? What will it be like for Charlie when Bella has to explain to him about vampires...and Edward....a vampire? Hmm....and who's Lily?
"I was caught in-between a twilight stage of sleep and semi-consciousness, as I longed for the sun to fall over the horizon.”
-Bella, chapter 3
So this story just popped up in my head one night. I was listening to "When it Rains" by Paramore, that's where the title came from. And it rains...a lot in Forks.
Please, please PLEASE review. I have worked really hard on this story.

I loved having my own bathroom in this house. It was a lot better than having to share one with Charlie, like I did in the old house. Once I showered and dressed in jean shorts and a dark purple v-neck shirt, I bathed and dress Juliet for the day.
“So do you like Grandma, and Grandpa?” I asked Jules as I put her curly hair in little pigtails.
“Yesh.” She spoke. Jules was always so cute and I never got over the fact that this beautiful piece of art was mine and that I made her. I kissed her on the forehead then pulled her off the bed and we started down stairs.
“Are you hungry?” I asked her. She nodded vigorously, I couldn’t help but grin.
Sue was in the kitchen finishing up her breakfast as I entered. “Good Morning” She greeted. “Charlie left for work about an hour ago.”
“Still working the same hours.” I stated. I got a banana for Jules and I. Neither of us were big eaters.
“So, Bella. I’m going over to Seth’s, he needs help with his laundry, would you like to come along?” She offered.
“Yeah that’d be great.” I said finishing up my banana.
“I’d like to leave in about 5 minutes.”
“Okay, yeah we’re ready now.” I said as I whipped Jules fingers.
“Do you think I could carry her?” Sue asked as if it would be a ‘no.’
“No, not at all.” I said handing Jules to Sue. “Say ‘Hi’ to Grandma.”
“Hi!” Jules said.
“Aw, she’s so dear. Thank you, Bella.”
“For what? I asked pushing my eyebrows together.
“For letting me be a Grandmother.” She grinned as I slip into the passenger seat.
“Oh, of course, Sue. You’re great.”
“Thanks.” She grinned “Seth will be thrilled to see you.” I grinned also.
Seth’s apartment was in the more populated part of La Push. It was a tiny two story building that was falling apart inside and out. Sue continued to hold Jules has we walked down the hallway that reeked of fish and cleaner.
“I offered to help him afford a better apartment, but he insists he wants to be independent, but yet he has to have his mother do his laundry.” Sue explain.
When Seth answered the door, it took all of me not to gasp. He was so tall and built, he was shirtless wearing only cut off jeans, which I always remember but his chest was never so ripped. I had to admit that Seth definitely was NOT a kid. He was a man, a very sexy man. I almost blushed at the thought. I guess Seth didn’t recognize me standing behind his mother because he didn’t seem to notice me.
“Mom? When did you have a baby?” Seth raised an eyebrow, but then focus on me. “Bella?” he asked.
I gave him a big grinned and thankfully Sue moved out of the way because the next thing I knew Seth was crushing me with a hug.
“Bella, Bella. I missed you sooooooooo much! Where have you been?!” He flooded me with questions but all I could do was giggle at his excitement.
“It’s great to see you, Seth.” I said when he finally let go off me. “Come in,” he gestured inside. “Oh, hey Mom.” I chuckled. Sue followed behind with Jules and shut the door. “Don’t mind the mess.” Seth said as he cleared the couch of Cds and food wrappers. “Damn, Bella it’s been tot damn long.”
“Seth!” Sue scolded and referenced to Jules in her lap.
“Oh, yeah man, who’s this little chick?” Seth asked. I took Jules and let her sit on my lap.
“This is my daughter, Juliet.”
Seth’s mouth plopped open and his eyes widened. “No way. Does Jacob know?”
Why would Seth ask that? Ugh, so what if Jacob doesn’t know? Maybe, I won’t even tell him. No, I have to tell him.
“No,” I snapped “he doesn’t know. And you’re not going to tell him.”
“Whoa, easy, Bella.” He teased lightening the mood.
“I’m sorry. But, please don’t tell him. I will.” I spoke “Eventually.” I whispered.
“Seth, you’re an Uncle now.” Sue said happily.
“Uncle Seth. I like the sound off that.” Seth grinned and gently pulled Jules onto his lap.
I assumed the reason Jules cuddled up so close to Seth was because of his warm skin. It was so cute to watch. Sue and I both grinned.
“Well, Seth, I’m going to start your laundry.” Sue said as she entered another room.
“Thanks Mom.” Seth hollered.
“Wow, Bella. She looks like a little Quileute girl.” Seth mused. “Who’s the father?”
“It was a one-night-stand.” I lied.
Seth only nodded in response.
“So what happened, Bella? Three years with no word? The only reason we knew you were alive and okay was because of your monthly call to Charlie. Why’d you leave, and like never come back? His voice was disappointed, as if he expected more from me, and I didn’t blame him.
“I just had to get away. Breathe. I needed a changed.” I lied, I lied right thought me teeth.
“But you seemed so happy. You and Jacob. I know what happened the night before you left, Jake told me.”
“He did?” I asked hoping he’d lied also.
“Yeah, Bella. You really-- you really torn him apart.” God, I’m such a bitch. I’m a horrible person. I hate myself--officially. But it had to be done. I had to save myself. I didn’t think it would be this hard.
“I’m horrible.” I admitted in shame.
Jules climbed off Seth’s lap and made her way across the couch to me. She touched my cheek and I looked at her understanding face. But in truth she didn’t understand anything but the fact that I was sad.
“Mommy, I love you.” She said in her cute voice.
“Oh, honey I love you too.” I hugged her close to my chest and remembered how lucky I was. How amazing Juliet was, always took me by surprise.
Seth couldn’t help ‘aw,’ How could you not?
“She looks a lot like you, except her tan skin and dark eyes.” What was Seth getting at here? It annoyed me, what did he know?
“Jake’s got a girl.” He said matter-of-faculty. My heart sank down to my feet. I didn’t expect to feel so disappointed. I knew it was possible, and I shouldn’t be so sad. I was supposed to be prepared for this.
“Is he happy?” I asked. That’s all that matters.
“Did he imprint?” I asked out of curiosity
“Nope.” Seth popped the ‘P’
Well, this is good, maybe things would be easier. I could only hope.
The rest of the day was spend with Seth. Sue went home after an hour or so and left Jules and I with Seth. Seth caught me up on all the gossip of La Push and Forks. He talked about school and work, and also his girlfriend, Kylee which was also not an imprint. Then Seth went on telling me how different I looked which I didn’t see at all.
“Yeah Bella, don’t talk this the wrong way, but you look like a supermodel.” I couldn’t help but burst into laughs. Me, a supermodel? I highly doubt so. “No, really you have the shape.” I raised my eyebrows and Seth continued as if this wasn’t weird at all. He went on and did the hand motions of a supermodel’s body. I continued to laugh. “I like your hair.” Seth said pointing to my head. I worn a grown out fringe hair cut with my natural color.
Seth, Jules and I got pizza before he drove us home. He came into visit for a bit.
“Seth, tomorrow, can you be here by 1? Sue ask as if it was impossible. Which for him, it wouldn’t surprise me.
“Yeah mom.” He rolled his eyes.
“What’s tomorrow?” I asked
“Oh! I’m sorry, I forgot to tell you. We’re having a cookout.” Sue explained.
“You’ll get to see everyone again, Bells.” Charlie said flipping through the newspaper.
“Great.” I said seriously and then rolled my eyes. Seth was the only one who saw it and laughed, I started to laugh with him.
“Well, I’d better get going.” Seth said jumped up from the couch. “Don’t run off, Bella.” He said giving me a goodbye hug. Then he bent down to Jules and gave her a hug “Bye-bye Jules.” Seth said.
“Say bye to Uncle Seth.” I told Jules.
“Bye-bye Uncle Seth.” Jules said.
After I turned the TV to Hannah Montana, I left Jules in the living room to join Sue and Charlie at the table for dinner.
“So who all is coming tomorrow?” I asked out of curiosity.
“Billy, Jacob, Jake’s girl, Quil, Embry, Sam and Emily, and- is Leah coming?” Charlie asked Sue.
“Yes and she is bring Caleb.”
“Oh, who’s Caleb?” I wondered
“Her husband.” Sue noted
“Leah’s married? Wow.” Leah was only a year older than me, I couldn’t see myself getting married at this age.
“You have a 3 year old, Bella.” Charlie retorted.
“Yeah, you’re right. When did she get married?” I agreed.
“About 2 months ago. Caleb’s a lovely man. I’m so happy Leah imprinted.” Sue said with a smile.
I all but choked on my spaghetti. How did Sue know about imprinting? Does this mean she knows about werewolves? Vampires? Well it’s all sort of a package deal. Does Charlie know?
“How do you know about imprinting, Sue?” I asked.
“How could I not? With two werewolves running around at night?” She said as if it was obvious. But at the word ‘werewolves’ I looked at Charlie. He continued to eat his dinner has if he’s heard it all before.
“Dad, do you know about werewolves?” I whispered
“Yes, Bella.” He sigh has if it was old news. I was shocked. I never wanted Charlie to get caught up in this world of werewolves and vampires. Well, I guess it’s just werewolves, now.
“Wait.” I demanded as I stood up. “ Then, you know Edward is a vampire?” I said with fury. I didn’t expect Charlie’s reaction. He stood up also and his eyes filled with fury.
“Edward…was…a…vampire?” He spoke slowly but sternly. Oh, shit. So he didn’t know. Well, Bella, aren’t you a smart one. I sat back down, more claim but angry at myself.
“Uhm, I think he still is…a-a- vampire.” That was all I could say because I was speechless.
“Bella! You dated a vampire?” Charlie shouted. But he did sit back down, which made me fill better.
“Yeah.” I squeaked.
“But they’re the enemy, aren’t they?” Charlie asked Sue and she nodded. Charlie was treating this like baseball teams, it irritate me, but I played along.
“Hey, I was ‘Team Vampire’ before werewolves came around.” I snapped defending myself.
“Bella, is Edward Cullen really a vampire?” Charlie eyed me probably checking his and my sanity. Well, I might as well come clean now.
“Yes, Dad.” I signed.
“And when did you find this out?” Why does this all matter?
I pushed my eyebrows together in thought. Hmm….
“Uh, like 3 months after I moved here.” I winced.
“You mean to tell me that you’ve known that Edward Cullen was, is a vampire and you dated him?” Charlie raised an eyebrow.
“Yes.” I admitted.
“But, Bella. I saw you,” he voice fell to a whisper “kiss him.”
“Yeah, I kissed him. A lot.” but that’s it.
“Oh God.” Charlie said rubbing his forehead. “What about the other Cullens? Alice, Carlisle?”
“Yes, Dad they all are.” I rolled my eyes.
“Oh, not sweet little Alice.” Charlie mused
“Yep. You know, Dad. I loved Edward, and Alice. I even hoped to become like them,” God, why was I telling them this? Did I have a death wish? Charlie’s eye widen and Sue’s mouth dropped “yes, a vampire. But it’s over now. He’s gone and never coming back, and I’ve accepted that.”
Have I? Have I really accepted the fact that Edward’s gone forever? Yeah, I’ve accepted it, but I’m not okay with it. But it doesn’t matter now, I have a daughter who I love.
“You know what? I don’t want to know anymore.” Charlie insisted with his hands up.
“That sounds like a good idea.” I agreed as I took my plate to the sink. “Jules and I are going to get ready for bed. Thanks for dinner.”
“Bella, wait.” Charlie stopped me before I exited the kitchen. “Maybe, I think it would be a good idea if you gave Jacob a call.”
“I’ll see him tomorrow, Dad.” I said my good nights and jumped in bed with Jules.
Sleep did not come quick. I kept tossing and turning. I was going to see Jacob tomorrow. How much did he hate me? Would it be enough not to talk to me? I feel so guilty about everything. I don’t know what I’ll do if Jacob doesn’t talk to me. He’s the reason I came back. And what about his girlfriend? Will he even want to talk to me when he has her? She’s probably so much better than me. I could only hope the Jake would forgive me.
The more time I spend in Forks, the more I realized I missed it so much.
I wonder if any of the Cullen’s did come back? Maybe even looking for me, to check up on me? But only to find that I wasn’t around. No, I doubt it, but I’d be nice.
I continued to lie awake. I begged for sleep but it never took me. I picked up my phone from the nightstand it read 12am. Sue and Charlie would be asleep.
I quietly got up, careful not to wake Jules. I through sweat pants over my shorts and a sweat shirt over my tank top. I left a note for Charlie and Sue just in case they woke.
It was raining--of course. The rain beat down hard on the window shield and it made driving next to impossible. I drove slow with my yellow mustang down the dark road. I wanted to go to the Cullen’s house though, so I fought through the rain.
I realized I wouldn’t be able to find my way through the dark and rain, to my disappointment I headed home. I got home about 1am and the house was still undisturbed. I through out the note and headed up to bed. This time it took several seconds to fall into a deep dreamless slumber.
