A few years ago I didn’t think my life could get worse. Once Chris died, I was lost. The sad thing is that we never even went out. But, he was my best friend. Now I’m driving to my new high school, Forks High, and I can’t help but thinking about all my friends even one I haven’t seen for a year and a half. My mom and I left everything back in Seattle; my friends, my brother, my dad, and my music career (well kinda). I was actually kind of getting somewhere with my music until we had to move to this tiny town in the middle of nowhere because of the stupid divorce. The only good thing about this is that my mom felt so sorry for me that she bought me my dream car, a dark blue Mini Cooper.

As I pulled into the parking lot of Forks High, I couldn’t help but think about my favorite book, Twilight. Just like Bella’s first day, most of the cars were old and cheap. I was really early so I decided to just sit in my car and listen to Switchfoot. Their music always can calm me. But in this case, it just made me miss my friends even more and I started sobbing.

Once the parking lot was pretty full, I decided it was time to head to class. As I got out of my car I could feel people staring at me. Not always the best thing for someone like me; just like Bella I’m a very klutzy person. I decided to just ignore all the eyes and concentrate on getting to class. I found my 1st period, Spanish II, quickly and I went to talk to the teacher. He told me that the only empty seat was in the back. I sat down and tried to concentrate on the teacher as the class started.

The day dragged on really slowly. No one came to talk to me, I ended up sitting alone at lunch, and to top it all of it was raining. I’m used to rain, but it just made the day even more miserable. When the bell rang after 5th period I almost ran out of class. My next class was choir and I was really excited. Choir was always my favorite class; it was the most fun and music always helps me get through hard times.

As I walked into choir I began to get worried. What if this choir sucks? What if they all are amazing? I was obsessing about those things when the teacher appeared in front of me.

“You must be Christine, the new student. We are very excited to have you here. Your old teacher sent me a recording of some of your performances. It sounds like you are a very talented musician; I look forward to working with you.”

“Thank you, I look forward to working with you guys also.” Hopefully I sounded convincing.

“We have a concert in two weeks, so you don’t have to sing in it if you think that you need more time. We are working on memorizing the songs and perfecting them.”

“It’ll be fine, I would love to perform in the concert. It’ll give me something to do.” I’m going to need something to keep me busy.

“All right then. You can go sit by Christopher and he can get you the music you need and he can explain classroom policies.” As he said this, Mr. Johnson motioned for a guy in the second row to come to the front. He was very pale and incredibly beautiful, but that wasn’t what caught my attention. Christopher looked so familiar; he looked like…the next thing I knew I was falling towards the ground. Right before I hit the ground I felt some strong arms catch me and lay me down gently.
