“Okay, Cadyna, breathe!” Carlisle ordered me. I screamed as I breathed. Embry was holding my hand and I squeezed tightly. Three hours into labour. The vampires had left the house. Just the wolf packs and werewolves, waiting downstairs. Inside my room, was me, Carlisle, Embry, Holly and Demon (pacing worriedly). I pushed and then finally a strangled cry pierced the room. And a second. I looked up.

“A boy and a girl, Cadyna” Carlisle said. His tone was strange.

“Have you thought of a name?” Holly asked.

“I was thinking Ashley Kitty Robyn Call for the girl”

“My surname?” Embry asked, uncertainly. I nodded.

“A bit long?” he said. I shrugged

“And the boy?” Holly asked.

“Another A name” Embry stiffened.

“Andrew?” Suggested Holly.

“I was thinking of something like Achilles”

“You can’t call the poor kid Achilles!” said Embry “He’ll be teased rotten at school”

“Fine, Aidan Sam Quil Call” I said, finally.

“Err…can everyone leave for a moment?” Carlisle asked “I need to talk to Cadyna in private” everyone left, except Demon, looking uncertain.

“Cadyna, I really don’t think you should name them with Embry’s surname” he said, urgently.

“Why? Alec isn’t here, and I have no idea which one is the father”

“Actually…” he picked up one of the babies and showed it to me.

“Oh” it was a boy. A perfect replica of Alec. Why me?

“What do I do Carlisle?” I asked.

“You need to tell him. Better than him looking at Aidan or Ashley and seeing. The others will be back soon. You should tell him before they do” I nodded. He left and returned with Embry.

“Embry, I need to tell you something”

“What?” he asked.

“Aidan and Ashley are Alec’s children” I pointed to Aidan who was still clutched in my arms. Embry looked at him, then at me with tears running down his face. He ran from the room. I felt tears come into my own eyes.

“Carlisle?” I asked. He came to me at once.

“I have a question”

“Sure thing”

“If these kids are two thirds vampire, one third shape shifter, why didn’t they grow super fast?” I asked.

“Well, it took you six months but they are the perfect regular baby size for children of the full nine. It took some time because shape shifters are technically human. They‘ll probably grow quickly just not in seven years like Nessie. Double their age. So two months per month. I‘m not really sure Cadyna”
“Oh. Right” I said, trying not to cry. Alice burst into my room.

“Congratulations!” she yelled. Then she stopped.

“Edward come here” she called. Edward came in and stared at Alice in confusion. He shook his head but she glared at him. He sighed.

“Sorry Cadyna” he said. Then he took Aidan from me. Alice picked up Ashley and turned to me.

“Cadyna, get up” said Alice. I did so, confused.

“You need to tell Alec that he’s the father”

“What? He ran off! One I don’t know where he is. Two, he probably doesn’t even care!”

“Okay then. Cadyna Cullen, you are not allowed inside this house until you have found him and told you!” she said.

“What?!” I cried.

“Alice now is really not the time” said Carlisle.

“She needs to! Her kids are staying here until she goes and gets Alec back” she thrust Ashley into Bella’s arms (as she entered the room) and grabbed me. She started to drag me out. I could have escaped if I’d been at full strength. But I was too weak. She threw me out of the front door. Demon ran after me, barking.

“See you when you’ve found him” she said. She slammed the door. I’d just got locked out of my own house.
