I sat quietly in my biology seat, head in my Book of Shadows. I scribbled down the confrontation and what Holly had said. How I'd felt when my coven had stuck up for me.

"Nice friends" said a voice. I ignored him.

"What are you doing?" I shut the book with sudden strength.

"I might ask you the same thing. What are you doing here?"

"I missed you. I wanted to see you," he said. "I didn't know you had any sisters Bella"

"They're not my sisters"

"She said that you were"

"They're in my coven. Family remember?"

"You have a coven?" he asked.

"Yes. Why shouldn't I?"

"Was that something to do with the book you were scribbling away in?"

"Perhaps"

"Bella, look at me. I haven't seen you in ages. Let me see your face for the first time in months?" I didn't. If I did, my heart would crumble.

"Why? My face is severely angry at the moment, as is the rest of my body" I went back to staring at the desk. I put my BOS into my bag and pulled out my biology textbook and the book Mik had lent me.

"What's that?"

"It's a book"

"Bella" he said.

"What?"

"Nothing" I bent further over my book. A cool hand touched my cheek. I jerked up like I'd been electrocuted. I was looking up into his eyes and I forgot my annoyance that he touched me.

"Bella" he said. I smacked his hand off me.

"Keep your hands off me Edward. We may have had a relationship once, but then you decided to leave me so we are no longer going out" Mr Banner came in.

"Ah Mr Cullen! It's nice to have you back. I trust Miss Swan will help you catch up on what you have missed and will include you as her lab partner for our project"

"Actually Mr Banner, would you mind if I move seats?"

"And why is that Miss Swan?"

"I don't feel comfortable with Mr Cullen sitting next to me"

"That may be Miss Swan but there are no other available seats and everyone else has a lab partner and has started their projects. I'm afraid we will not be able to relocate you until after this project has ended. Will that be okay?"

"Yes Mr Banner" I muttered. He introduced the lesson and then let us start.

"So Miss Swan, what are we doing?" asked Edward.

"Whatever. My project wasn't working that well anyway. Do what you like"

"Bella, please forgive me. I know Alice misses you"

"Well, I missed you lot too but no one considered my feelings"

"Bella, did you get a boyfriend while I was away?"

"No"

"Because you thought I'd come back?"

"No, because I couldn't love anyone. Not after I'd loved you and had my heart broken" I told him.

"Okay. I've apologized about that?"

"Edward, we're looking at cloning," I said.

"Okay" we spent the lesson in silence, except comparing notes.

"So...Bella, do you fancy coming over after school?
Everyone wants to see you"

"I can't"

"At least, don't hate the rest of the family. Come and see them"

"I can't" I turned "I'm busy" he could see the honesty in my eyes.

"Okay. I'll see you tomorrow?"

"Maybe" I finished the rest of the day in a blur and headed home. I went and found my box of Wicca stuff. I opened it, got what I needed (five different coloured candles. Candle holders, a pot of salt, a pot of water, incense and four precious stones). I snuck downstairs and got a glass and a bottle of red wine. I also found a pin. I headed out into the forest. If it hadn't already been afternoon, I'd have gone to the meadow. I found my clearing, my space. A fallen tree made a small table. I put my stuff on it and used the salt to draw my pentacle. I cast a circle. I needed the goddess's guidance. I placed my candles in the right place and lit them and the incense. I stood facing east.

"Air of wisdom, blow away all fear. Enter the circle, come to me here" I turned to south.

"Fire of strength, burn away all fear. Enter the circle, come to me here" I turn west.

"Water of comfort, wash away all fear. Enter the circle, come to me here" I turned north.

"Earth of protection, ground all fear. Enter the circle, come to me here" I looked up and held the purple candle above me.

"Spirit within me, light all fear. Enter the circle, come to me here!" I shouted. I fell to my knees. I poured the wine into the glass.

"Drink of the goddess, drink of her knowledge" I said. I took the first stone and passed it through the incense smoke.

"Air to the spirit. Goddess above, grant me knowledge by air" I dropped the stone into the wine. I picked up the second and passed it through the heat of the purple candle.

"Fire to the spirit. Goddess above, grant me knowledge by fire" I dropped the stone in the wine and took hold of the third. I put it in the cup of water for a second.

"Water to the spirit. Goddess above, grant me knowledge by water" I dropped it in the wine and placed the fourth stone in the salt.

"Earth to the spirit. Goddess above, grant my knowledge by earth" I put it in the wine and picked up my pin.

"Spirit to the spirit. Goddess above, grant my knowledge by spirit" I stabbed my thumb with the pin. A single bead of blood flowered. I squeezed it into the wine. Five drops fell into the red wine. I picked up the glass.

"I drink to the goddess. Give my coven strength. Give me strength to face what I have to face. And grant me my wish" I dipped a hand into the wine and drew a pentacle on my forehead.

"Help me decide whether to forgive Edward. Show me a sign so that I know what to do," I said. "Goddess, grant me thy knowledge. I drink to thee" I drank the wine. I felt the stones hit my lips. I stuck a tissue around my thumb to stop any bleeding that might occur. A twig cracked behind me.
