It still hadn't sunk in that my only child was pregnant. Edward and I have been on edge the past few days, worrying as usual, for our daughter's and unborn grandchild's safety.

With my worries spiralling out of control, I started making my way to Carlisle's office. Not matter how much I loved my father, I couldn't bring up the courage to ask someone else for help with my daughter's protection.

I paced back and forth, contemplating the issue of my grandchild’s heritage. Would he or she be a werewolf? Vampire? Or just human? I had to find out and the only way was to seek advice from someone wiser.

“You can come in Bella.” Carlisle said from inside his office.

Of course he could hear me moping around like a lunatic. I slowly opened the door. Carlisle smiled warmly and put the pen down, that he was using. He gestured for me to sit on the opposite leather armchair.

“Now tell me what’s troubling you?” How could I really tell him? I started off acting a bit dumb.

“Is it that obvious Carlisle?” He lifted his cheek into an amused grin.

“You have been pacing outside my office for about two hours. Now unless you feel the need to turn up Esme’s carpet?, I’m guessing there is something important on your mind.” Two hours? It couldn’t have been that long?

“I really need your help Carlisle, on something that is very precious to me and I’m sure special to you too.” He nodded in agreement. I explained to him all the worries troubling my mind. All the fears for my daughter and grandchild.

Carlisle calmly told me that there was no way to predict the outcome of this pregnancy. With Alice being unable to see Nessie’s future, my fears increased.

Carlisle promised me that he would research as much as he could, and pray for the best. At this moment in time, I had no option but to thank him and hope. I gave him a quick squeeze, thanking him once again and went out to get some air.

School started in six hours and Edward popped out to fetch something for Esme. He would be back soon, so I left him a note.

Just gone to the forest to get some air.

I will be back soon.

Love you,

I needed to just stop worrying. My mind was constantly on edge, I had to relax. Running was the best form of releasing tension, from a vampire. My legs just kept pushing and pushing for hours.

My mind started to kick back in when the skies opened up to release the minimal amount of light for Forks. I turned back on my heels and darted back to the house, the way I came.

As the house began to reach my sight, I caught a glimpse of Emmett, chasing down an elk. His massive body on a dainty herbivore made me chuckle.

When my voice hit his ears, he looked up alert, and smiled a big grin.

“Sneaking off school again, are we Bella? I must say it’s a new record for you and Edward, two ditches in what? Two days?” He had a serious smile plastered on his face, with sarcasm glowing from it, but underneath I knew he was trying his best not to laugh.

“Shut up Em. We only had Friday off because of my thirst, and I’m going home right now to change. As you can fully well see.” I responded.

“Whatever Bella,” I thought he was going to drop the conversation, so I began to turn back towards the house. “Just remember Alice can see the future, and it’s not difficult to get that little pixie to tell all.”

With that he winked at me and darted off further into the forest, before I had the chance to say anything.

Alice and I were going to have a serious conversation about privacy issues.

Just as I approached the house, Edward came sprinting out, wearing a beige sweater and jeans, he looked so dashing. He lifted me up in his arms and spun me around welcoming me home.

I chuckled and leaned up to his lips, before we moved any further our other siblings stood there waiting impatiently, with Emmett clearing his throat. I was irritated by the interruption of a perfect moment.

“Yes? Can we help you?” I asked waiting for them to explain what they wanted then go. They all chuckled, as Emmett and Jasper stepped forward.

“We have a proposition for you.” Jasper’s cheek stretched into a sly grin. I released the hold on Edward and my shield, Is it more gambling? He looked into my eyes and smiled. Well I was up for anything.

“We’re listening?” Edward confidently stated. Emmett cheered and announced the challenge.

“Okay, here’s the thing. You and Bella spend far too much time together, and the whole family are getting annoyed with your constant lip action around the house. You’re worse than me and Rose sometimes.” Rose glared at him and he smiled winking at her.

I was getting rather annoyed with Emmett today.

“So what’s you’re point then? You want us to stay in our room?” Edward questioned.

“I have a better idea, brother.” Jasper chuckled reading everyone’s mixture of emotions. Suddenly Edward gasped.

“NO! NO! NO! AND NO! EMMETT!” Edward pulled me back into his arms. I was rather confused at what Emmett wanted, but I had a feeling it wasn’t good for me and Edward. “There is no way I’m doing that, even you know how difficult it is.”

Alice and Rosalie smiled at one another, silent laughter coming off them.

“Hello? Can you let me in on his little scheme?” I was waiting.

“$5000 says you and Edward can’t go a day without any form of romantic gestures. No holding hands, no kissing and no sex!” Was Emmett being funny? No contact with Edward? My Edward?... No I can do this! It’s only one day, perfectly simple. I smiled up at Edward and he grinned back at me knowing the challenge facing us.

Both in perfect sync, we shouted. “You’re on Emmett!”

Jazz and Em gave each other a high five, and Alice and Rose linked arms. This was going to be fun.

Suddenly Esme came out holding an angry look. “Are you children gambling again?”

No one said anything, but sheepishly we all ran to the garage to continue the discussion.

Alice danced to the middle of scheme and declared. “There are rules. First, Edward, Jazz and I, are not allowed to cheat. Second the game ends at eight am tomorrow. Third, try and keep it low, If Esme and Carlisle find out, my credit cards are gone again. All got that?”

We all nodded and clambered in our vehicles. I gave Edward and devilish grin and sat in the back of the car. He chuckled and drove off in the direction of school. This challenge was going to be easy. Me and Edward will become $5000 dollars richer tomorrow. But it wasn't really the money, it was the victory of winning.
