4. Chapter 2 Bella

Rating 0/5   Word Count 1970   Review this Chapter

“From the top again,” I called out to Alice and Rosalie who were stood behind me, making sure they had the right moves for the dance tonight.

‘Every night I rush to my bed
With hopes that maybe I'll get a chance to see you when I close my eyes
I'm going outta my head
Lost in a fairytale
Can you hold my hands and be my guide?
Clouds filled with stars cover your skies
And I hope it rains
You're the perfect lullaby
What kind of dream is this?’
I sang for them, glancing over my shoulder to see if they had it.

“God we really need to get you a boyfriend,” sighed Rosalie.

“So you won’t take us away from ours,” Alice muttered sarcastically.

“Don’t worry guys. I’m going to take up baseball this year so you won’t have to worry about me keeping you from your precious ‘bo’s,” I said, grinning madly at them

“Hey, what about Em’s and Jazz’s new roomie?” suggested Rosalie.

“Oh yes. I can totally see Bella with him,” agreed Alice. I sighed, shaking my head and rolling my eyes as I faced the front again.

“And five, six, seven, eight,” I counted them in as we started on the chorus.

* * *

Okay, so maybe I might have pushed the girls a little too far. I think they might be sweating bullets.

Woopies…

So I reassured them again.

“Don’t worry guys. I know I’ve probably pushed you a little but if you get lost, just follow my lead okay?” They nodded, still nervous. “Just try to be your sexy selves for the boys,” I said, nudging Alice with my elbow, who grinned in return.

“Alright everyone,” I practically shouted, even though I had the microphone taped to my cheek. “I know, I know. It’s a sad night. The summer’s over and school’s starting on Monday. But that’s what night is for. Let everything go and have fun. So everyone. Please, put your hands together for Alice, Rosalie and Bella!” I said, skipping backwards off the stage. I liked to introduce myself that way, so people knew it was me, even though the entire population knew about me here. Teachers included. Yeah, let’s just say I have a reputation around here.

Putting on a non-fake smile – unlike Alice and Rose – I sauntered onto the stage with Alice and Rose following.

I started to sing and dance to Beyoncé’s Sweet Dream. I think I saw the boys’ jaws dropping simultaneously. I smiled more as I continued singing the parts that I hadn’t recorded.

Every night I rush to my bed

Lost in a fairytale

You're the perfect lullaby

You can be a sweet dream or a beautiful nightmare
Either way I, don't wanna wake up from you
… or a beautiful nightmare
Somebody pinch me, your loves to good to be true
My guilty pleasure I ain't goin nowhere
Baby, long as you're here
I'll be floating on air cause you're my....
You can be a sweet dream or a beautiful nightmare
Either way I, don't wanna wake up from you

… when I say my prayers
I wrap you around all of my thoughts
Boy, you're my temporary high
I wish that when I wake up you're there
To wrap your arms around me for real and tell me you'll stay by side
Clouds filled with stars cover the skies
And I hope it rains
You're the perfect lullaby

You can be a sweet dream or a beautiful nightmare
Either way I, don't wanna wake up from you

You can be a sweet dream or a beautiful nightmare
Either way I, don't wanna wake up from you

Tattoo your name across my heart
So it will remain....
Not even death can make us part
What kind of dream is this?

I was temporarily high.

And exhausted.

I grabbed Rose’s and Alice’s hand and made them bow with me.

My head snapped you to the familiar whistle of Emmett and Jasper. As Rose and Alice ran off the stage to go to Emmett and Jasper, I walked over to the side of the stage, and took a good few long gulps of water. As I placed the water down, I grimaced at the thought of humiliating another poor soul for the head master. Considering I egged Mallory’s car, I’m surprised he didn’t stop me dancing tonight.

I shrugged the thought off before it brought me down.

I stared at all the crazy girls clinging to some guys right in front of me. I forced myself not to grimace again and roll my eyes. Instead, I smiled at them and leaning forward to them, I spoke.

“Okay. So what did you guys think?” I asked, as they screamed and cheered in response. Well at least they enjoyed the show, I thought. I looked up and met a pair of stunning green eyes.

They were new eyes.

And the eyes weren’t the only part of him that was stunning. His hair was amazing and he looked definitely toned and muscular.

I quickly flicked me eyes to Emmett before straightening up. I knew that was the kid the head wanted me to introduce tonight, therefore humiliating him, therefore him not liking me. That’s exactly what happened with Tanya, Lauren and Jessica.

Okay, so I might have pushed them a little…

“Yo, yo, yo, Emmett!” I hollered. Throwing my hand up randomly in the air as I pronounced his name the way he hated it – Em-ee-ta. I forced back a smile as he grimaced and continued so he would be distracted and not comment about his nickname. “Who’s your new dude?” I could have embarrassed him more, but I thought better of myself. I tried to stop my eyes looking at him, but it was hard.

“That Bella, my dear friend, is Edward Masen,” Emmett said. See I would have said he shouted, but that unfortunately was his normal voice. My smile grew at some of the random things he said, and only just saw him hit Edward on the back…

Edward.

The name suits him.

I didn’t let my thoughts wander anymore.

“Aw. You brought him here for the traditional Crystal Coast Academy, didn’t you? Okay Eddie boy, are you single?” The words just kinda came out. But it was a question not only did I – unfortunately – and all the other girls, want to know. I paced, trying to keep my eyes off him, and making it look more casual than pacing.

“I prefer not to be called Eddie,” he perfect voice shouted back.

Well too bad, I thought back. Edward’s too good for you so I gotta make it Eddie.

Instead I said, “Like I care. I called you Eddie Boy anyway. So, are you taken?”

“No,” he said, knowing the nickname argument was lost since he started it.

“Perfect.”

Woops. I hadn’t meant to say that out loud. Oh well.

I crouched forward as the lights dimmed and I tried to fix Edward up so I wouldn’t be thinking about him.

“Fellas hold onto your ladies ‘cos ladies we seem to have a new hottie amongst us. And he’s single?!?!” I winked at Edward, knowing this is probably what he wanted. Boys’ minds were one-track.

“Standing at five foot something or other, auburn-ie tousled bed-hair.” I paused as I saw his hand run through his hair and let out a breathless laugh, making myself feel more like an idiot. “Don’t worry there Edward, your hair looks great, am I right ladies?” I grinned at the response in the crowd; he would be fixed up in no time. I threw another wink at Edward before standing straight again. “Where was I?” Damn him and making me forget where I was up to. “Tousled hair and emerald green eyes and best yet, single. Ladies and gentlemen, put your hands together for Mr. Edward… Mas-en!” This time I did shouted down the microphone but I couldn’t care less.

I threw my hand up and then down; a signal for Emmett and Jasper to bring him up here.

They grabbed him and practically carried him up to the stage. I reached for his hand to haul him up on the stage.

I didn’t expect a spark.

That’s why I let go of his hand, causing him to fall backwards into Emmett.

My hands flew to my mouth as I gasped. I pulled to microphone away from my cheek and stuck my hand out again.

Damn electric shock.

“Ohmygod! I’m so so so sorry!” I cried as I grabbed his hand. The spark flew threw us again, and I started to wonder whether it was an electric shock. I couldn’t pull my hand back because Edward gripped it harder. I pulled him onto the stage and towards the microphone for him. I patted twice on the shoulder before going backstage, throwing on my black skinny jeans, the black trench coat Alice suggested we get and grabbing my bag.

“Well, um, hi,” I heard Edward stutter and I sighed as I made my way to explain to him. I prepared myself for that spark as I placed my hand on his shoulder. He jumped a little.

I lent against his shoulder as I spoke to him. “Okay listen kid.” God, did I just call him a kid? What’s wrong with me?

“I know you won’t have a clue what to say but basically just tell us your name, your birthday, some of your hobbies and a random fact about you,” I said, ticking them off on my fingers, refusing to let myself get lost in his eyes by looking at my hands. I looked up at him and asked, “Got that?” He nodded, looking very panic-stricken.

“Good,” I said, looking away. God, one second in his eyes and I was lost in his eyes. I patted him twice again on the shoulder as I walked over to the front of the stage. I was going to jump but Jasper and Emmett reached for me, thinking I would fall. You would think they would know that I wouldn’t fall by now.

“Thanks guys,” I said as they placed me on the floor. I started to make my way to the door, not looking over my shoulder.

“Hey Bella, wait,” said Mike, grabbing my hand.

“Look Mike. I told you, I ain’t gonna go out with you. I have to go anyway. I’ll see you around.” I ripped my arm out of his grasp. And he wasn’t the only one who was trying to stop me. As I escaped Tyler, Edward’s musical voice came rushed through the microphone.

“Well, I’m Edward Masen. I was born on the 20th of June. I play the piano and baseball. And I stand at six foot two actually.” I smiled as I closed the hall door.
