It was just after five in the morning, I was in the middle of my regular morning 5k jog, like always, I found my thoughts consumed with Bella.

It has been exactly 42 days since I’ve first laid eyes on the beauty that is Isabella Swan. Ever since that first time I saw her in English, she has captivated me in ways that I’ve never known were possible.

I remember the first time I heard about Bella was after I returned home from a successful meet in Utah. Emmett and Alice wouldn’t shut up about this petite brunette girl who had unknowingly taken the town of Forks by storm. The following few days that I stayed home to rest, I was constantly surrounded my information of the arrival of the Swan family. The whole town was abuzz about this military family; it wasn’t a common thing in Forks. I must say I was sceptical, I knew that Alice and Emmett had a tendency to exaggerate, and I just couldn't see the big deal of befriending the new girl, we were already a solid group of five, and I’ll admit, I was a little scared that that would change.

*flashback*

Like usual, I had arrived to English extra early. Emmett always bagged on me about being a nerd, but I couldn't help it if I’d rather get to class early and prepare for the lesson then take in the tedious conversations of my fellow classmates.

I was sitting there mindlessly doodling in my note book, when the most exquisite sight I’ve ever seen walked into the class room. I was instantly captivated by her beauty; her luscious brown hair that framed the delicate features of her face, her chocolate brown eyes that you could easily get lost in, her pink curvy lips, it all could only be described as a gift from god.

As I continued to admire her features, she walked towards me, and sat down at the previously empty desk beside mine. God, someone out there loved me! She gave me a cute but somewhat apprehensive smile as she sat down beside me; I was too stunned to even return the favour.

All throughout the class I couldn't help but stare at her in wonder as she continued to take notes on the teachers lecture on Shakespearian plays. At a point, her eyes started to wonder around the classroom, when her eyes landed on me, I felt like I was in heaven. Almost bashfully she looked away, and let her hair become a curtain, separating us. I felt crushed by the immediate loss.

After a few minutes, when the class was nearing an end, I surprised myself when I leaned over and whispering into her ear, “I'm Edward, what’s your name?”

She just gave me a shy smile, “I'm Bella; it’s nice to finally meet you.” Ah, so this was the infamous Bella Swan!

“Finally?” I asked. I knew how I knew her, but how did she know me?

“Yes, I’ve become quite close with your brother and sister, and their friends Jasper and Rose.” She replied. Of course they would tell her about me, if I know my match-making sister she was probably already planning our wedding.

“Ah, so you’re the infamous Bella Swan. It seems that you’ve really captivated the attention of my siblings.” She had no clue, just how much she’s already wrapped my siblings around her dainty little finger in the little time that she’s known them.

“Ah, I see my reputation precedes me” she grinned. God her smile was amazing! “That it does,” I agreed

Just like that Bella Swan had entered my life.

**Flashback Over**

At first I was always apprehensive around her. I mean how exactly do you act around a girl who’s all alone because everyone who’s ever mattered to her is fighting in a never-ending war over seas? But as the weeks passed by, we became closer.

I was in love with everything about Bella; her selflessness, her generosity, her ability to see the good in people, the amount of love that she had for her friends and family. But what impressed me the most was the way she would talk about her family. Anytime she would talk about her father and brothers, she would get this special spark in her eye. It was painfully easy to see just how much all this was killing her; however she seemed determined to block the pain out and distract herself by helping out others. It always made me wonder if that’s why she jumped at the chance to help Rose and Jasper so fast. I know she loves them and doesn’t like the idea of seeing two of the people she loves so much hurting, but a part of me always wondered if she helped because it was something she could react to and actually be able to help with, unlike the situation with her family, where she had absolutely no control over anything.

I remember when we first found out about the Hale’s that our family was completely taken off guard. The thing that hurt the most was the fact that our families had been friends for so long, and we were oblivious to everything that was happening. I don't think any of us could help but feel a little jealous that they chose to confide in Bella rather than us, but I couldn't blame them, Bella just had a way of being able to comfort you and make you feel better just by simply being in her presence. She always has this special glow that can make you feel the love and protection she felt for her family and friends.

I would love nothing more than to make Bella mine. Unfortunately for me, our relationship was purely platonic. She wasn’t ready for a relationship, and I had to respect her for that. I wouldn’t rush her, but I would be waiting by her side until the moment she changed her mine. I already know that this is the girl I’m going to marry and grow old with; it’s just a matter of waiting until she realizes it too.
