“Did my parents leave?”
“Yes, they brought you’re sister with them” he answered.
“Do I really smell like hot chocolate and cinnamon?”
He giggled “Yup, it’s a very delicious smell”
“Is it hard for you not to ....?”
“Sometimes, when it’s a hot room or you just got out of the shower, but I know I will never hurt you”
“How long have you been a vampire?”
“For as long as I can remember”
“Do you ever wish you were human?”
“So I can love”
“Vampires can love...”
“Not like humans. They don’t turn red when they get asked out, or sweat when they are walking up to their date’s house, they don’t cry when their hearts are broken, and they don’t glow when it’s been fixed”
“I ... uh, I’m sorry”
“I just... feel bad”
I could hear his smile.
“You’re heart beat is very loud”
Shit, I was hoping he wouldn’t notice.
“Yea, it does that a lot”
“It has a nice, steady rhythm”
“Doesn’t most humans?”
“I like yours the best”
I went crimson. I was starting to get uncomfortable, so I turned to my side. I opened my eyes to look into the deep red eyes of Edward. I was so startled, my eyes popped open. He smiled.
“You sleep well?"
Then the staring contest began. I stared into those deep red eyes, it was amazing. It was like staring into a rose. The whiteness of his face was really making them stand out as well. His mouth was perfect, like it was chiseled by an artist. It went up at the corner, grinning a crooked grin.
Just for a second, I felt very self conscious. There must be those little brown-ish yellow things in my eyes, also there must be purple rings under them. My breath must stink. My mouth was probably swollen, and my hair was probably a mess.
But then I found that I really didn't care, because I was with him.
Oh my god! Does that mean? Yes, I think ...
I think I like him. Like really like him. Well, just a bit, anyways.
He brought up our entwined hands and kissed them. I smiled.
"What are you thinking about?" he whispered. His breath was as refreshing as peppermint, but as comforting as the breeze.
"Of another question to ask you" I smiled. He smiled. I almost cried it was so beautiful.
It suddenly felt so clear to me. This is why I only seem to draw red scarfs, or walk around in the snow. This is why I felt like I was glowing, like I was walking on air. How could I not have realized he was this beautiful?! I wanted to punch myself out.
"Have...have you ever been with someone?" I asked slowly. I didn't look, up at first, because I was afraid. But then I realized, what was there to be afraid of?
He stared into my eyes, like he was staring into my soul.
"Yes, I was. She was pleasant, nice. But I found out soon enough that her soul belonged to the devil. I never saw her again" He said in a normal tone. My eyebrows shot up. He laughed.
"Her name was Emily, and I was her fiancé. But, one night, it happened"
"What?" I asked full of curiosity. He smiled.
"I became a vampire, silly" He nuzzled in to my hand. I thought I was going to faint.
"Anyways, I was still in love with her, so I came back to her after I transformed. But, ever since I became a vampire I ... I had this sort of gift. When looking and holding on to someone, I can ... I can see there soul, I guess you could say" he continued. Ohhh so he really can stare into someones soul.
"When I looked into her soul, I saw she was a liar, having cheated on me many times before" He said gloomily. I gasped. I held our entwined hands close to my face, giving his hand light kisses. He tried to give a smile.
"Did you, you know, kill her?"
"No. That would bring me down to her level." I nodded in agreement.
"So, I left. Ever since then, I hadn't really ... well, thought about it much. I just tried to forget about it" Edward said. There was a bit of a pause, me kissing his hand while staring off to the corner, thinking about what I just heard, and Edward. Staring into my soul.
"What does a soul look like?" I asked.
"Well, everyone's soul looks different. Emily's, for example, looked like a piece of rubble, painted with silver"
"I guess that makes sense. What does mine look like?" I looked up at him with big eyes. His eyes spread open, as he stared into my eyes. He was holding my hands tight as well.
"Like a diamond in the grass" Edward whispered. I went to the deepest shade of crimson there could possibly be.
"And what does it mean?" I whispered.
"It means you're a lost gem. You are special, but someone has to find you" Edward replied. Never mind. I just went a deeper crimson then the one before.
There was a long pause. We just lay there, staring and thinking. It was so weird, yet so right. Like this was all meant to be.
"What does it feel like to not have a heart?"
"Empty. Like the only thing keeping you down from floating away is the thought that someday you might get it back"
Suddenly I felt terrible for asking.
"What's wrong? It's like a cloud just flew over your face"
"It's just ... oh Edward. I'm sorry" I felt extremely bad. I couldn't look up at him. What kind of person am I to ask those sorts of questions?
"Ally, it's ok. Don't worry" Edward whispered while bringing up my chin so he can look into my eyes.
"I ... I just... You can... If you ever need me...." I stammered. He chuckled.
Then, he slowly leaned his head down so that it was resting on my chest.
Ba Boom Ba Boom Ba Boom went my heart. His eyes were closed, as he listened. His dark brown hair was in my face, so I leaned my chin on it. Yum, it smelled exactly like him.
He lifted his head and planted a kiss on my nose. I giggled.
"I like you very, very much" he whispered.
I swear, my heart expolded. My little imaginary self was dancing like a crazy person. Fire works were going off in the background. Flowers were falling out from the sky.
"I like you very, very much" I whispered back, then kissed him gently on the lips.
My imaginary self was crying, dancing, singing. Confetti and flowers and money were falling from the sky. Balloons were everywhere. All I could hear was 'I like you very, very much' replaying over and over again in my head.
I wrapped my hands around his neck while his wrapped around my waist.
The kiss started as tender and gentle but became hard and amazing. We were violently making out when suddenly Edward stopped.
Had I done something wrong? What happened?
"To, good, don't ... want to lose control" Edward panted. I laughed hard. I gave him a hard, quick smooch on the lips, and then crawled around him out of the bed. I walked to the closet, smile on my face.
My imaginary little me was still dancing.
As I reached up to get a shirt, Edward wrapped his arms around my waist and kissed my neck.
"Where do you think your going?" he asked slyly. I giggled.
"Sorry, I have to shower, your going to have to wait" I smiled as I kissed him on the nose. He followed me to the bathroom entrance. I stopped in front of it and turned to face him. I gave him a quick glare.
"Stay, you understand?" I said as serverly as I could manage. He laughed and stood at the opposite wall of the door.
"Yes, ma'am" Edward said in his best attempt of a southern accent. I laughed, waved, and went in.
I was very grateful for the shower, for it gave me time to think. I thought about what just happened. So, we both like each other. A lot. He likes how I love Coraline, and drawing and vanilla. He likes how sometimes I can talk forever, while other times I won`t even speak a word. He likes how I love to sing and dance in fields, and read quietly on the couch. He likes how I hate talking on cell phones and chatting on msn, but loves sending letters and sending notes.
It was funny how fate could do that, one second you have a murder stalking you, then suddenly your making out with him in your bed. I giggled, as I reflected on the kiss. His lips were a perfect shape for mine, I swear. Plus, he tasted amazing.
Suddenly, I remembered my old boyfriend, Lester. He was one of the foot ball players, and we were both assigned to work on a project together. When it was just him and I, it was a lot of fun. We laughed, worked, sang and danced. It was like a best friend, but he would hug me a lot more. One night, we were at a party together, and I was desperate for him to kiss me. I had never been kissed, and I thought that after the third date it should be aloud. But when I entered the house with him, he suddenly changed. He would smack my butt, laugh at stupid things, trips the nerds, grope other girls and would make a mess. It was stupid and embarrassing. So, I left the party early, after telling him that it was over.
I looked in the mirror. Light purple under my eyes, pimple on my forehead, and a stupid grin on my face.
I changed into my clothes, put on just a tint of perfume, tad bit of gloss and mascara and a quick brush through my hair and I was ready. I opened the door, expecting to see Edward waiting there, but he wasn`t. From downstairs I heard the stove was turned on. I crept down the stairs, not really knowing what to expect.
Peeking into the kitchen, I saw Edward frying eggs over the stove. Outside, all I could see was white. I sat down on one of the chairs, watching Edward. He had a nice long neck, but was basically covered by his dark brown hair. His back was straight, not hunched like some guys. He really did have wonderful shoulder blades. His back was covered by a thin mahogany shirt. Even through the shirt, you could see how his back showed all his muscles. It was also so nice how his butt was small but well rounded. It was nicely covered by his jeans, so that it wasn’t completely visible, but you could still see a bit of the shape.
“Are you checking me out?” Edward asked. I looked up to see him staring down at me with a big smile. Damn crimson blush.
