Chapter 17 Version 1 Part 8: Nightmares

* * *

“Hahaha! I’m beating you! I’m stronger!” I said as I stuck my tongue out playfully. Emmett and I were wrestling around and I was winning.

“Don’t get too happy yet!” He whispered into my ear as he lunged and missed. I threw him onto the floor, placed my foot on the small of his back and he huffed out a big breath all at once as I finally won this round! “HA!” I screamed in triumph.

“I call a rematch!” He said with a grin spread widly on his face.

“Hmmmm…” I said while pretending to think about it. “NOPE!”

“Aww Cass, don’t be like that!” He said while giving me the puppy dog look.

“Well actually…” I began, playing along with this whole charade “ Maybe we could….but then again, maybe NOT.” I smiled. “No rematch.” I teased Emmett. He didn’t actually think he could persuade me to do a rematch did he?

Then my dream had turned into a nightmare…a much worse version of my possible future.

“No! Why are you doing this?” I asked frantically.

“I just can’t even kiss you or touch you anymore, let alone look at you.” He said disgusted, his head turned the opposite of me.

“W-why?” I whispered.

“Cassidy! You’re an old lady! I don’t wanna be involved with someone who has wrinkly old skin and can’t even keep up with my human pace! I can’t stand being with you anymore!”

He walked away leaving me crying to myself. And when I looked at my hands…all I saw was a stupid old lady.

“AAAHHH!!!” I woke up screaming in my bed in the middle of the night, beads of sweat across my forehead. There’s one person I need to talk to. And I need to talk to her NOW!

I jumped into my convertible, still in my pajamas, at two in the morning on my way to the Cullen house.

“Alice?! Where’s Alice?” I called out frantically, as I burst through their front door (which I know was rude, but I did have a house key). Thankfully Edward heard me and came to my rescue. “It’s two in the morning. What is it? Are you alright?”

“Yes, no, I don’t know. I’m sorry for barging in, but it’s important. Do you know where your sister is?”

“Uh ya, she’s in her room. Upstairs first door on the left. Is that all?”

“Sure. I’m fine.” I gave him a quick hug to thank him. I figured what the heck? If I’m dating his brother then I should be able to give him a nice brotherly hug.

I found her door easily. It’s not hard when it’s the only door painted pink. I knocked impatiently. She opened up the door wide, and the happy look on her face disappeared, probably noticing the expression I held.

“Alice, what’s going to happen to me?”
