Summary:
A walk in the moonlight is all it takes for secrets to be shed, surprises to be shared, and a twist that can alter all in their world. A walk in the moonlight is all it takes for someone to find a monster in someone they thought they could trust, learn of something they know will change their life forever, and will either destroy or shed light on a flame that can be reborn to it's extent. ______________________________________________________________________________ Hey everyone! I practically re-did the story! Well it's almost exactly the same but I just re-worded certain things. But it's all for the better! So please re-read the entire thing because I may have added a few things and chapters. ;) Enjoy!

Chapter 11 Version 3 Part 1: Secrets and Surprises

(Version 3…ignoring chapter 7-8)

The moonlight shines down upon us from above. It glistens along the stream that lay beside us. I hear crickets chirping and owls hooting all around in the tall green trees that sway and make the near-silent sounds, almost like they whisper quick little hisses.

Emmett asked me to meet him on this forest path. He said it was urgent and that he really needed to talk to me. So here I am walking with him along this forest path wondering what on Earth he has to tell me. But I don’t pressure him into spilling it because I know that he’ll eventually spill. I probably just have to give him some time to think first and when he is ready he will tell me. I also expected him to start asking me questions soon trying to beat around the bush, so that’s why his question had caught me off guard.

“Cass…we’re friends right?” He asked me.

“Of course Em. Why would you even ask such a silly question like that?” I replied.

“Best friends?” He questioned again, completely ignoring my question altogether.

“Yes Emmett. We are best BEST friends. Em- what is this all about?” I was really starting to get suspicious now.

“Ok, so you know that I would never lie to you or try to hurt you as well?” He kept on going…STILL dodging my questions.

“Please Emmett just spit it out. Is it that bad? Whenever you have really bad news to tell me you beat around the bush, waiting for me to figure it out so you don’t have to say it. So please just save me the trouble and come right out and say it.” You know that wait-till-he’s-ready-to-tell-me rule? Poof! Gone.

“Never mind…just forget it. You would never believe me anyway. It was stupid of me to even want to tell you-”

“Tell me? Tell me what? Please Em, my patience level is way past being tested.” My patience? I have none.

“I’m being serious when I say this ok? Promise not to freak. Promise not to laugh, because I’m dead-” *gulp* “-serious.”

*Sigh* “Here goes nothing.” He breathed quietly.

“I’m a vampire.”

*Crickets* *Crickets chirping* *Crickets*

Everything suddenly made sense. His cold skin, inhumanly fast speed, strength, hearing, never growing or looking different. It’s all become so clear.

“I believe you.” I whispered softly. I have to admit, I am a little scared, but if he truly is a…vampire, and he was bad, then he would have hurt me already. So I know that he won’t hurt me.

“Why?” He asked me, hesitantly.

“Why what? Why do I believe you? Well…because you are my… *gulp*… friend, and if you wanted to hurt me you would have done it already. And I trust you.”

“No-, why aren’t you scared?” He hissed. That frightened me a little, and I reflexively jumped and took a step back.

“Well I do admit, you scared me at first, but I realized that…you won’t hurt me.” I simply murmured.

“But how do you KNOW that?!” He yelled, mostly talking to himself, as if he was doubtful.

“Because Emmett…I know you…all of this time you have been my friend you haven’t shown any sign of wanting to hurt me or coming close to hurting me, I know that you wouldn’t do anything harmful.”

“Now can we please stop acting like we are in a soap opera and quit the drama? I just have a few questions. Is that ok?” I was still a little wary. I know I’m being a little too understanding, but sometimes I can be very open-minded.

So as of now, I am best friends with a vampire.
