The stairs. I decided that I just couldn't make up my mind right at this instant and ran as fast as I could towards the stairs and to my room.
I put a force field between me and everyone else. Then I ran out of there. As soon as I was safely locked in my room I dropped the force field and mentally dared anyone to try and get me to come down. I just hoped that Dylan and Edward didn't come up.
Not even Sara could talk me into coming out. It's times like these that I'm really glad that mind powers don't work on me, otherwise I would have obeyed Jamie and been forced downstairs by her freaky mind control, *cough* mass hypnosis, *cough*.
The world must be against me because when I was finished thanking the lord Jamie couldn't affect me I heard Edward and Dylan rushing up the stairs, as soon as they were sure that they wouldn't get blasted back by an invisible force field.
"Bella? Honey? Please come out. We won't make you choose. You could dance with Emma and I could dance with E-Coli over here," Dylan offered.
"Hey!" shouted Edward. I smiled, but made sure no one would ever know.
"Bella, would you please come out? I wouldn’t care if you dance with Daniel. I just want you to come out and everyone does too," Edward tried coaxing me, while throwing in his insult to Dylan.
I couldn't take the pressure; even if I did come out and dance with one of them. Then the other one would be upset with me. So I backed away from the door, still half listening to Edward and Dylan's bribes.
I pushed the bed, dresser, and everything else in the room up against the door. Then I ran towards the window. I broke through it easily; making shards of glass fly everywhere.
I hit the ground running and was off heading to
Washington. I don't care about the treaty. I needed to see Jacob and nothing was going to stop me.
When I finally reached La Push, I slowed down not knowing what would happen when I crossed the boarder.
Cautiously, I put one foot and then the other, passing the invisible line separating Jake and I. I closed my eyes waiting for something to kill me, but nothing happened, so I walked forward a bit more still nothing.
Slowly, I made my way to Jake's house, a bird's call or scampering off squirrel frightened me. Finally, I saw his old wooden house and makeshift garage with the Rabbit in it, and I knew I was safe.
I walked out into the open and made my way up the steps to the door. I knocked once and a girl came to the door. I recognized her as Leah Clearwater.
Uh oh, she could tell that I was a vampire. I shut my eyes, waiting for her to scream at someone that there was a vampire, but she didn't…
Instead she asked in a light happy voice, "Bella? What are you doing here? I thought that you and your coven lived in Astoria."
She must have noticed my quizzical look because she quickly explained, "Jake told me everything. I know you aren't here to hurt anyone and I trust you…” She added hastily.
"It's good to see you too Leah. Is Jake home? We need to talk," I asked warily not wanting to upset her into thinking I was after Jake.
"Oh no, he and Sam are away for the weekend, training the new wolves. So Emily and I are here alone," She said a bit sadly.
"Oh," I said just as glum.
"But what ever you want to talk about, I'm all ears,” she was so perky now that she had Jake…
"Well..." I said, not wanting to push all of my vampire problems on her.
"Oh c'mon, you know you want to," She must really want to hear my problems…
"Okay," I finally agreed. "Come in," she said cheerily, stepping aside to let me in. I walked into the small living room that I had spent so much time in and realized that this house hadn't changed at all in the 57 years that I haven't been in it.
That fact made me smile, this small piece of reality made me feel like I was human again. I took it all in then noticed Emily sitting in the corner staring at me like I was a…, well vampire, of course...
"Hey, how are you Emily?" I asked trying to snap her out of the shock like state she was in.
She shook her head and stammered, "B- B, Bella?"
"The one and only," I said putting one foot in front of me, doing jazz hands.
She smiled and then asked, "Why are you here?"
"Well, I wanted to talk to Jake about something but..." I trailed off because she knew the rest.
"Well, come talk to us,” she volunteered just like Leah.
"Okay, okay! You guys win! I'll tell you," I gave in, but just as I was about to explain…
Sam came bursting through the door and Jacob right behind him looking very upset. "It's true?! She's a vampire?!" Sam asked getting angrier.
"Sam stop!" Emily tried calming him.
"NOO!" he bellowed.
Then he lost it when he saw me as a vampire in flesh and blood (well, not exactly...), and a huge silver wolf was in the cramped living room, bent on killing me and not even Jake was able to calm him down...
