A/N: This is just a little fic I'm putting together to occupy myself for a little while. Since I'm still waiting for my order of New Moon to come through I haven't read all the itty-bitty details yet. If I get things wrong don't be surprised .
Chapter 1 will be short , but I am going to include some details so hopefully it won't be disappointingly uninteresting.
Slanting beams of weak light shone through the venetian blinds that held out most of the rare Fork's sunshine. Edward Cullen stared into space , the stripes of sun painting sparkling lines across his face. He sighed and retreated further into the darkness, causing his vampire skin to dull to it's original flat , pasty shade of white. He glanced sideways at his sleeping girlfriend, not just last night had she almost managed to behead herself with the phone wire. He sighed and gave a small dry chuckle , not loud enough to wake her. Drumming his fingers aimlessly on the mattress Edward gracefully exited to the bathroom and showered for the day , letting yesterdays worries wash down the plug hole along with the used shampoo suds. There was no point dwelling on past catastrophes when he lived with Bella, there was always another disaster waiting in the wings when it came to her incredible flightiness. Sometimes he wondered if her clumsiness could even be human? Surely it was impossible to trip over a wire, running behind a bookcase which in turn fell over, nearly flattening her ,if it hadn't been for his extra quick rescue.
He knotted a towel securely around his waist and padded back into the bedroom , taking care as he flicked through his wardrobe for a suitable shirt to cover his chiseled in stone chest. He heard a little cough from Bella's recently acquired double bed. She was sat up , eyes bright , hair definitely very bushy. Edward could see her eyes alight with something more than early morning cheeriness as she glanced southward from his lightly darkened eyes to his naked torso. Edward chuckled and before she could even squeal , he pounced onto the bed, landing directly above her, hands either side of her head to save her from almost certain death of being crushed from his weight.
“'Morning,” she said sleepily ,not being able to keep the excitement from flashing through her eyes. He gave her lips a quick peck in return , smirking as her pulse thundered in his over sensitive ears. She blushed uncomfortably , knowing exactly why he was using that ever so tantalizing smile.
“Shut up!” she shouted in self defense before he could even open his mouth, and wriggled down the bed.
“Oh no you don't!” he called and caught her by the ankles, yanking her back up the bed swiftly. She yelled and thrashed around in protest but couldn't stop him from holding her to his chest as he wandered down stairs , ignoring her shrieks. Eventually she stopped complaining and relaxed against his chilly body, muttering profanities every now and again.
“Bella, Bella, Bella,” Edward said with a mocking tone and tapped her nose with his finger. She sighed softly as her set her down on one of Charlie's miss-matched chairs, wanting to be close to him. Edward turned to face her on his way to the fridge, leaning against the counter.
“Please?” she whined, almost , but not quite begging. He raised a quizzical eyebrow.
“What about breakfast?” he asked, then added quickly, “For you that is, human food.” Bella snorted .
“I'm not hungry,” she lied. Then her stomach gave a roaring growl. Edward chuckled and shook his head, returning to his fridge hunting.
He kicked the refrigerator door shut, juggling a box of eggs,a loaf of bread and a tub of butter.
Within ten minutes the table was loaded with scrambled eggs and toast with golden pools of butter, the smell made him want to hurl but he held it in for Bella's sake.
“You paid attention to me cooking then?” she asked thickly through a mouthful of toasted bread.
“So much for manners” Edward thought wryly, smiling as he did so. He nodded and sat watching her eat delicately.
After admitting she was stuffed full and thanking him for the delicious breakfast, Bella dashed upstairs to take another “human moment”. He wandered into the quaint living room , collapsing with second nature grace onto the sofa and listened as the pipes throughout Charlie's old house rattled into life when Bella switched the shower on. Edward closed his eyes, this was his equivalent of sleep, not dreaming, completely aware of all his surroundings but time seemed to pass quicker this way.
Edward glanced at his watch, she'd been in the shower for a good hour, all the hot water should have run cold by now. Flashing up the creaky stairs with inhuman speed he knocked gently at the bathroom door three times. No answer. Growing worried her tapped a little harder, creating small dents in the door. A thick worry line was etched into his forehead.
“Bella?” he called tugging at the door handle. It was locked.
“Open the door Bella or I'm coming in anyway!” still the absence of her voice, only the shower could be heard, pounding away at the bath tub. Edward sucked in a suspenseful breath as he threw his weight against the door. It burst open immediately , shattering the heavily moisturized air with a definite crack of splintering wood.
“Bella?” he asked cautiously, staring at the apparently empty bathroom. She couldn't be in here, her scent was missing, then again the air was very heavy with water vapor. Ripping back the shower curtain apprehensively just to make sure, he was met with an empty space. Bottles lined up around the baths rim , full of blue bubbles and scented shampoo. Edward was frozen, completely bewildered. How had she managed to lock the door and get outside? Through the window? No. He gave the catch a little shove, that was locked as well. Finally deciding no matter how many times he looked into the bath tub she wasn't going to be there Edward turned off the water spray. The deathly silence the shower left hanging around his shoulders was tormenting. He crept along the hall , his careful steps barely making a ghost of a sound on the old floorboards. He didn't dare call out her name, in fear that she wouldn't answer. Edward paused outside her bedroom, hand ready to push open the door. He was frozen. Afraid of what he might find inside. He held his breath , knowing that if he stopped breathing it wouldn't matter much. There wasn't a chance of his heart stopping, but for Bella...Cursing , Edward twisted the handle and stepped into her room with a flourish. He knew where she would be even before he entered. Her scent was weak, the perfume of sweet lavender barely recognizable.
“Bella!” he shouted , running to the bed and grasping her face between his iron wrapped-in-silk hands. Her lips were stained blue and a thin flaming red welt ran the length of her dangerously pale neck. He brushed her icy cold wet hair from her clammy face. Somehow he knew she was alive, barely. Scooping her dead weight from the bed Edward wrapped the duvet around her body, and took off through the window. Dr Cullen was his only hope is Bella was going to make it. Edward ran faster than ever before, not concentrating as branches whipped at his face for the first time ever.
A/N: just a little taster guys. Next chapter up within one to two days if I haven't got any work to do. Basically in the next chapter I'll reveal some creativity and the fact that I have done by research, despite what this appalling chapter of writing may give the impression of.
