The value of friendship

When your best friend is gay, everything is different, more fun. However, I don’t see the point of him being gay; he could get any girl he wanted. He had perfectly chiseled features and deep green eyes. He looked like a walking, living, breathing sculpture of a Greek God. My gay best friend happens to be, Edward Cullen. Loyalty is tested and new friendships blossom. But does everone value friendship? Pairings: BellaXJared, RosalieXPaul, AliceXQuil, EmmettXMaria, JasperXRenesmee, JacobXJessicaXVictoria, EdwardXSeth

A fun little story I decided to write.

Edward's POV

Seth Clearwater. Three words to describe him: Sexy. Ass. Dude. He was tall, dark, and handsome. Just what I was looking for in a man. Okay, he wasn't that dark, but still. I hoped that I didn't look stupid when I was trying to flirt with him. But when I got out of the shower he looked happy to see me. His eyes got all wide and shit and he smiled the most beautiful, genuine smile I'd ever seen.

“Edward, you're hot,” he blurted. Then he covered his mouth and his cheeks turned another shade darker. So fucking cute. I threw a crooked grin at him and sat up on the couch.

“Don't be shy. I think you're sexy,” I said smoothly.

Seth smiled like it was the best thing that anyone had ever told him. I wondered if it was. I smiled back.

“Hm. Yeah?”

“Have you...um... how many boyfriends have you had. I mean, you seem like you had a lot. I just thought-”

I cut him off with a laugh. “Just one. His name was Demetri. And before you even ask, I don't want to talk about it.” Mainly because, he dumped me. I would have liked to say that I was the dumper not the dumpee. And because things just went so wrong I couldn't stand to even think about it.

You're thinking about it right now.

Whatever, you're not helping.

Okay, shut up, he's talking.

Mind babble is so annoying.

“Me too. Just one. His name was Sam.”

“Nice, nice. Hey, what do you say I give you the grand tour? Maybe show you the eighth wonder of the world later on?”

Seth nodded vigorously. “Yeah. What's the eighth wonder of the world?”

“My sanctuary. My lair. My room.”

“Ooh. I see.”

* * *

I grabbed Seth's hand and led him down the hallway. “Okay, let's see. There's two bedrooms down here. There's a bathroom in each one, and then to your right is the kitchen, right through those doors,” I said. I pointed to the doors and Seth nodded.

“Okay, right at the end of this hall is where the pool is.”

“A pool? Inside? That is seriously sick. I flippin' love your house.”

I pulled open the two glass doors and bellowed, “Behold. The pool. Oh, and the hot tub, too.”

And, I tell you, it wasn't just any ordinary pool. Not big and rectangular. Nothing monotonous like that. It was kind of big, in the shape heart. Bella's idea. At least I was gay, so I didn't mind that much. It was kind of cute, actually.

“Do you like come in here everyday. Because if I lived here, I would.”

I frowned. Did he change his mind?

“You do live here, I thought. I mean, I said you could. Even if it's temporary.”

“Oh, silly me. Duh! Well, I'm going to come in here everyday. It's my new favorite place.”

“It's mine, too.”

“So... wanna get in the hot tub?” Seth asked.

Breathe, Cullen. You can handle getting in a hot tub with a super sexy guy. Nobody said you had to touch him.

Just thinking about touching him had a rising effect in my jeans. I'd have to tame the beast later.

“Now?” I asked.

“Why the hell not?”

I looked over to see a half-naked Seth. A very glorious sight, might I say. I seriously had to restrain myself before I jumped all on that shit, for lack of a better metaphor. And his abs. Oh God, the abs were better than any male model I'd ever seen. I licked my lips, highly appreciatively. I yanked my pants off and smiled at Seth.

“Your body, equals amazing,” I said. He grinned shyly and walked into the hot tub.

“Oh, and by the way, you have a seriously nice ass.”

“You have a seriously nice face.”

I turned on the hot tub and got relaxed, which was hard to do seeing as how I was in there with Seth Clearwater. Did I mention how hot he was? No? Well, he was.

I opened one eye. “Yeah?”

“Um. Can I...maybe... kiss you?”

“You don't need-”

I was cut off by, can you believe it, a kiss? Seth basically attacked me. I could've sworn that went against his ethics or something. He seemed too nice to just go around attacking people. Then again, I didn't mind as long as it was me he was attacking. That I could live with.

At first the kiss started off nice and gentle. Sweet. Then, Seth slipped his tongue into my mouth. Our tongues were a raging war. I tangled my hands in his silky black hair. “You taste good,” I moaned.

“I hope you Klondike Bars aren't doing anything your mother wouldn't want so see,” Jared shouted. I stood up quickly, not because I didn't want to get caught. But because I didn't want Jared to see. Or Jake. It would be awkward.

“Uh, Edward. Your junk is out.”

I Looked down and sure enough, 'my junk' was sticking out of the hole in my boxers. Wow, I needed to learn how to keep it away. I put it back and turned ten shades of red. How embarrassing. It wasn't even the first date and he already saw it.

“Okay so I guess we're gonna get drunk,” Jake said.

“And then go to Wal-Mart,” Victoria added.

Because it's fun to fuck around with people in Wal-mart.

And then you get kicked out.

But it's worth it.

And we had to get some Christmas gifts. I know what you're thinking. Christmas gifts from Wal-mart? But what other place do you know of that stays open all night?. We liked to shop late at night. Or early in the morning? Whatever.

* * *

So after we were all very intoxicated, it was about midnight.

“We still going to Wal-mart,” I slurred.

“Hell yes,” Jared said.

I grabbed Seth's hand and led him out to the Aston Martin Rapide. Nice freaking car, if you ask me.

“Your car? Dude, isn't that like not even out until next year?”

I shrugged. “No biggie.”

I walked around the side of the car and opened the door for him.

“Wow. Who said chivalry was dead?”

“My mom,” I joked.

I climbed in the driver's side and texted Jared, telling him to follow us.

Driving while drunk is illegal. I knew that. We all knew that, still we did it. Why? Because we knew how to handle our shit. It was like second nature. Driving while under the influence, I mean.

* * *

Ten minutes later and we were walking into th store, more like stumbling.

“Let's race,” Victoria suggested.

By 'race' she meant with carts, not just feet. We would die.

Seth got in my cart, Victoria got in Jakes, and Bella got in Jared's. Seth looked scared, like he didn't know what to expect. I assured him everything was all right and we couldn't actually harm anyone. We found a wide, clear aisle and I counted down from three. Jake was in the lead, with his long legs and all. I was close behind and Jared was coming up close. I crashed my cart into his, making him swerve into a pyramid of soup cans. I slowed down a little to laugh at him.

“You asshole! That's cheating,” he shouted.

I pushed my legs faster and left him to eat my dust. As I got next to Jake, Victoria reached out and grabbed the hem of my shirt and yanked me back. My feet twisted up and I fell to the ground. I watched as Seth and the cart rolled down the aisle.

“Ohmigod! Edward! Are you okay?” Seth asked/screamed.

“Just dandy,” I said.

I mean, my cart did make it to the finish line before Jake. So technically I won. Jake didn't seem to think so.

“Your ass is grass, Cullen.”

Oh shit.

“Sorry, Seth, but my ass looks so much better when it isn't grass,” I shouted as I took off down the aisle. I ran past Jared who was still attempting to stack soup cans.

“Fuck it,” he said. Then he caught my eye and started to get up, then he saw Jake behind me. “Oh never mind, I'll just let Jake get you.”

Thanks, dude. Thank you very much.

I was most definitely a dead man walking.

I emerged from the aisle and headed towards the electronic section. I looked back to see how close Jake was. Too close! I whipped my head back around and ran right into some guy carrying three huge boxes. He fell backwards into more boxes and shot me a dirty look.

“What the fuck is wrong with you, dickhead? Are you blind? Or am I invisible. Shit. Watch where the fuck you're going.” Wow. And I was the dickhead? What a douche. I sat on the ground and watched as he struggled to pick the boxes back up. He stalked off towards the back and tripped and fell. Ha!

Karma is a bitch, asshole.

Jake came up behind me and got me in a choke hold. It didn't hurt, but I knew he could hurt me if he tried. Shoot, anybody could hurt me if they tried. I was a pathetic excuse for a male. I should've been born a girl. No never mind, being a girl would suck.

“You're a cheater, Cullen. You wanna know what happens to cheaters?”

I shook my head. I actually valued my life.

“Meet me in your room later, and I'll show you,” he whispered so low I wasn't sure if I heard him right.

“I...I...I...Um.” I stuttered.

He helped me up off the ground. “Keep your fucking mouth shut,” he mouthed. I nodded as Seth came running down the aisle. He bent over and started gasping for breath.

“All right. I better not catch you cheating again. Got it, Cullen?” Jake asked as he slapped my ass and walked away.

Oh my God! Oh my God! Oh my GOD!

“Are... you...okay?” he panted. I nodded and gave him a convincing smile even though my heart was in overdrive.

“Okay good. I was just going to get some gifts and stuff with the girls. That okay?”

“Yeah, that's, um, yeah. I'll meet up with you later.”

“Okay. Sounds good.”

Jared came over and draped his arm over my shoulder. “Ready to pick out some more gifts for our significant others?” he asked.

“I don't necessarily have a significant other...”

“Well, not officially. But you basically do. So suck it up, buttercup, and let's go.”

Like thirty million gifts and an hour later, we were finally met Seth and the girls up front. Luckily, I talked the manager into letting us actually pay for all the stuff before she officially banned us from Wal-mart.

I didn't talk to Jake until we got to the house.

“Can I crash here tonight?” he asked.

“Sure. You staying too, Vic?”

She nodded. “If that's okay.”

“No problem.”

I was scared and excited to see what Jake could possibly have to show me. In my room, no less. So I got up and gave Jake a knowing look.

“Um. I'll be right back,” I said as I rushed up the stairs before anyone could respond.

Two minutes later and Jake busted into the room. He shut the door softly and locked it.

What? Why would he lock it? Okay, that's when I started to get really scared. Maybe he was going to try to tie me up and kill me for, I don't know, being gay and having the hugest crush on him since the third grade.

“Look, I'm not gay or any shit like that, so don't get it twisted. I got a girl, just to clear the air.” He sighed. “What I'm trying to say is, I want to kiss you. I have no idea why. But you're just so cute. I have to just have one kiss. But like I said, I'm not gay. This is a one time deal.”

Jake came over and sat next to me on the bed. I think at that moment I had just died and gone to heaven. He grabbed my face in between his giganto hands and looked into my eyes.

“This is so fucked up,” he said.

Then his lips were on mine, and we were kissing. And let me just stay it was better than all my dirty little fantasies of mine. So technically I was cheating on Seth, but if he knew what was going down, he would've understand. When you get a chance to kiss your crush, you don't pass it up. I tentatively reached my hands up to tangle in his hair.

“Watch it, Cul-” I yanked it a little and traced my tongue along his bottom lip.

He moaned into my mouth and pushed me down on the bed.

“Damn. How do you make a straight guy want to go gay for a day?” he asked.

“I don't know. Shut up and kiss me.”

He did as I said. And slipped my shirt over my head and grazed my chest, not even missing a beat. He straddled me and started grinding his hips into mine. I lifted his shirt up enough so that I could feel his abs and just rub my hands all over his body. My dream had officially came true. Then there was a knock on the door. Jake jumped and rolled over on his back. I just sat perfectly still.

“Um. It's Seth. I don't want to sleep by myself. Can I sleep with you. Well, not with you, with you. Like just in the same bed. You know what I mean.”

I didn't say anything. I couldn't breathe. How the hell was I supposed to talk?

“Say something, asshole,” Jake whispered.

“Um. Yeah, you can, I just gotta clean up in here. I 'll meet you downstairs, okay?”

I took a deep breath and fell back on the bed, with my arms spread. Of course my hand landed right on Jake's... more personal area. He held it there for a second. Then he sighed and hopped off the bed.

“Damn, boy. That was great. But you do know that never leaves this room right?”

I nodded. “Yeah, I know. Thank you, you literally just made my dream come true.”

Wow. Corny much? Whatever.

“Good. That was just amazing, and I'm not even gay. What the hell am I saying? I need to go watch some football. I think I just lost some cool kid points.” He must have caught my sour expression because he continued on “But it was worth it. Every second was great.” He smiled and I smiled back.

“Yeah it was.”

Victoria's POV

I went upstairs to find Jake. Seth was walking down the hallway when I made it up there.

“Hey, Seth,” I said.

“Hey, Vic. What are you doing?”

“Looking for Jake. Thought I saw him come up here.”

“Oh, well I haven't seen him. You might wanna ask Edward.”

“Okay.” He pointed me in the direction of Edward's room and took off down the stairs. I knocked on the door and waited a couple seconds. Nothing.

“It's me. Did you see Jake anywhere, Edward?” I asked.

The door whooshed open, and there stood, Jake.

“Right here, baby.”

“Oh. Hey. I'm tired. Are you ready for bed?”

He yawned and wrapped his arm around my waist. “Yeah, I'm beat.”

* * *

Jake and I laid in bed for a good twenty minutes, not sleeping, not talking. He twined his fingers with mine and moved closer. He lifted our tangled hands and started stroking my bottom lip with his thumb. It was the most unsuspecting gesture, and it made my happy, despite the big secret I was carrying. Literally.

“Vic?” he asked.

“I like you.” I couldn't help it, I giggled.

“So I've heard.”

“No, I mean, I really like you. You make me feel happy and stuff.”

“Oh, shut up, you're drunk.”

He laughed. “Yeah, but I really do like you, and I care about you, too. Just thought I'd let you know.”

“Oh. Well, I really care about you, too. You are just so sweet to me, I love it.”

“Yeah. I'm that kind of guy.”

“Jake. I got a question.”

“Go for it.”

“Why were you in Edward's room?”

He stopped caressing my lip and cleared his throat. Then he started back up like nothing happened.

“Just talking. You know, guy stuff.”

I snorted. “The only guy stuff he knows about is dicks. Unless that's what you were talking about...”

“Hell to the no.”

“So what were you doing?”

“I said, talking.”

“I have a feeling you're lying to me.”

“I have a feeling you're pressuring me for information I can't provide you with.”

“Okay now I really know you're lying. You can tell me, I don't judge.”

“What are you talking about?”

“Well, you were obviously doing something. If it was with Edward, I don't care. I think it would be hot.”

“Oh yeah.”

“Hm. Interesting.”

* * *

The next morning I finally got to talk to Bella alone. I'd been waiting for two days to talk to her. Okay maybe two months. But whatever. We sat in the hot tub, sipping on our strawberry daiquiris.

"So what's wrong, Vic?" she asked.

"Everything." I sighed.

"Why don't you start from the beginning."

I took a deep breath. "Okay. Im just going to say it. I think I'm pregnant. Actually I know I am."

Bella gasped. "But... Jake...You...Too soon."

"It's not his baby. It's Embry's"

"Oh, God. Geez. When did this happen?"

"The last time I 've had sex with Embry was three months ago."

I looked down at the little bump in my stomach.

"I don't know what to do," I blurted. Tears were on the verge of spilling out of my eyes, but I blinked them back.

Bella reached over and scooped me up in a hug. She kissed my cheek and started playing with my hair, which always made me feel better.

"It'll be okay. You'll figure everything out. We'll figure it out. Together."

I nodded. "Okay. Just don't tell Jake. Not yet."

"I won't. Pinky promise."
