Suddenly, my cell phone rang and I pulled it out of my pocket and held it to my ear. Unknown number. “Hello?” “Is this Edward?” A deep voice sounded on the other line. Jacob Black.

Edward’s POV:

It was quite a shock when I discovered that Jacob Black was calling me…how did he even get my number? It’s not as if I broadcast it. Other than my family and Bella, no one had this number.

“Yes, this is Edward. And if I’m right, which I usually am, you are someone who I don’t wish to talk to just now.” I said.

“Yeah, ‘cause I’m just dying to talk to you,” his voice dripped with sarcasm. “I’m two miles away from your house. Bring Ally’s brother,” he sneered the last word, “and come outside. We need to talk.” I considered it and rolled my eyes, even though I knew he couldn’t see me.

“Fine, eavesdropper, we’re coming.” I said, hanging up. Bella was looking at me curiously and I smiled at her.

“Dan and I have to step out for a moment. We’ll be back soon, don’t worry.” I reassured her. She looked unsure, but nodded. I kissed her on the forehead and gave Carlisle a nod before running out the door and through the forest, making sure Dan was right behind me.

“Are we going to meet that Jacob kid?” Dan asked. I nodded and kept running. The dog’s rancid smell directed me to where he was, and sure enough his angry thoughts hit me before I even saw him.

I can’t be believe I’m doing this. Stupid, loser, trouble-making, attitude-prone, blood-sucking, leeches! His thoughts screamed. We approached him cautiously, making him whip around and then straighten up.

“Ok leeches, I know we’re not on the most friendliest terms and all, but this is important. It’s beyond our stupid treaty, and it’s definitely beyond our hatred.” Jacob said. As much as I completely hate you, this is for her.

“Are you talking about Ally?” Dan asked. I felt completely abnormal as I actually sensed what Jacob was going through; as much as I wanted to rip his throat out, I still understood his feelings. We were both monsters in love with a human.

“Yeah. The reason I wanted to talk to you guys was because I know you’re the only ones who would absolutely stop her from coming to live with me. Bella and Ally trust me. Your family is going to ask you if you think it’s safe for her to come with me. So what are you gonna say?” Jacob said. Please. Please. Please. Oh wait, damn it! He can hear my thoughts--- I blocked out Jacob’s thoughts and sighed.

“I’m blocking out your thoughts, dog.” I said irritably, before sitting down and pinching the bridge of my nose. Was it possible for vampires to get migraines? I definitely thought so. Dan sat down next to me, looking completely distressed and indecisive.

“Dan? It’s really your choice, I have no say in the matter.” I said softly. Dan shook his head at me.

“No, we all have says in the matter. We already know what Ally wants, and I am her legal guardian, and you are my new family. We can decide together.” Dan said.

“Right, so you can just sit and think.” Jacob said, before sitting on the complete opposite side of the little clearing we were in. I closed my eyes, and thought for an idea. Thankfully, Jacob and Daniel stayed quiet during the whole time.

“Dan, I personally don’t think he would do her any harm. I believe that love is enough to keep anyone in control, especially with the kind of love Jake feels with Ally. I’ve seen it in his mind… what they call imprinting is really a complete and total connection. True love. Bella’s blood calls to me in a way no other’s could hope to. The Volturri call it la tua cantante, or a siren. If I can control that for love, the dog can keep his temper. We have to give him some credit…the rest is up to you.” I sighed, opening my eyes and finishing my little speech.

“Okay, it all makes sense to me, it really does. I know your love, your limits, and your self-control. It’s just very---no, fiercely---difficult for me to let go of Ally and hand her over to a stranger who we have only known for two days. I trust Ally’s judgment better than anyone else’s, and if she says you’re safe, then I guess I have no other choice. I just need you to understand the…consequences and regulations.” Dan said.

“I do, I really do. I’ll keep her safe no matter what. I promise.” Jake said solemnly, standing up. Then, he cautiously walked up, and held out his hand to seal the deal.

“A werewolf and a vampire shaking hands, promising to keep a human safe. This should be recorded in the history books.” I mumbled as I slowly shook his hand, and then let go quickly. He also shook Dan’s hand and we all nodded towards each other before running off. Dan and I were going towards the house, and Jacob toward La Push.

“So was it just me, or was that…really weird?” Dan said quietly while running. I grinned at him, he was a good person, and I already felt brotherly with him.

“Yes, it was quite awkward. Since Bella came into my life, situations like this are happening more than usual.” I said. He chuckled and we came to a stop in front of the house.

Bella’s POV:

I was seriously wondering where Edward had gone. Why would he just pick up and leave like that, taking Dan with him? Alice was busy fussing over Ally’s clothes and shoes, and already planning to take her shopping later today. Carlisle was in his study, apparently doing research, and Esme was busy in the kitchen cooking something for Ally. Emmett and Jasper were playing with a deck of cards Jasper had found, and Rosalie and I were sitting on the couch quietly.

“Hey Bella, will you come to the backyard with me for a second?” Rosalie asked suddenly. When I looked up, it was painfully obvious that she was trying to tell me something with her eyes. She was more of commanding me to come with her to the backyard. I nodded and we both got up, heading toward the glass door that lead to the beautiful garden Esme had planted in the backyard. As soon as she shut the door, Rosalie began talking.

“So what do you think of them?” She asked me. “You’ve spent a longer time with them.”

“I like them. A lot. They’re really amazing Rose, what do you think?” I asked cautiously, because Rosalie had a tendency to not like new people.

“I really don’t know. I mean, Ally is really…um, you know. Fun, and she loves cars. And I can actually sympathize with her, which doesn’t really happen too much. I don’t know about Dan though, I haven’t heard much of him, what’s he like?” She asked. I was actually really surprised. I thought Rosalie would not like Ally because she was still human and yet, Rosalie liked her.

“Dan is really nice. He’s quite the gentleman, and he really loves Ally very much. He worked really hard for his whole life, and he deserves to live with you guys. I think he needs to be with some real family, and also some real friends.” I said. Rose appeared to think about it for a little while, her finger unconsciously twirling through one of the curls in her blonde hair.

“Alright, I’ll give him a chance. He seemed nice enough. I’m learning to accept people these days. Emmett said last week that I had a habit to make others feel inferior, but I can’t help it! So here I am, making Dan comfortable. Well, at least not inferior. Ugh, I’ll give it a try.” She said.

I smiled. She smiled back and we went back inside. I saw Dan, Carlisle, Esme and Ally heading upstairs towards the study, and I was anxious to know what was going on, but I decided not to intrude.

Suddenly, I felt two strong and cold arms wrap around my waist and it made me sink into Edward’s chest. He picked me up quietly, not uttering a single word, and carried me bridal style to his bedroom, where I received quite a shock.

“Edward! What is this all about?” I asked, jumping back. Edward looked into the room, and saw nothing wrong.

“What?” He asked calmly, scanning my face for emotions.

“There is a bed in your room. Why is there a bed in your room? Did you suddenly gain the ability to sleep?” I asked sarcastically, looking back inside the room.

There was a four-poster bed, probably king-sized, with a lacy canopy draped over it that tied at the posters. The sheets and comforter matched the golden carpets he had hung on his wall, and the beige wood was intricately designed with flowers and curved lines. He chuckled and grinned.

“Well, I thought that maybe since you’re going to be spending more time here now, that we might as well buy a bed. Did I do wrong?” He asked me, looking into my eyes, and trying to dazzle me.

“No, it’s not wrong, but you shouldn’t have wasted the money. Soon, I won’t be sleeping either.” I asked a bit breathlessly, looking at the beautiful golden orbs in his eyes.

“That’s fine with me. There are other ways to use a bed than sleeping in.” Even he looked surprised as the words came out of his mouth, I bet if he were human, he would have blushed. For once, I didn’t blush as I raised my eyebrows and pursed my lips, pretending to be offended.

“Edward Cullen, what are you planning to do in that bed?” I asked evilly. My flirting skills definitely left something to be desired, yet I noticed that Edward’s eyes became less embarrassed, and more wickedly pleasured. My heart began to accelerate as he leaned in closer and closer.

“Here, let me show give you an example.” He whispered. His intoxicating breath blew in my face and suddenly I felt the softness of the bed under my body and Edward’s lips at my jaw.

“Hmmm. I missed you more than you can simply imagine, my love.” He said into my neck. My heart seemed to swell in my chest and my breath became shallow.

“Edward.” I sighed blissfully, wrapping my arms around his neck and bringing him closer.

“Interesting. I seemed to have the inclination that someone was going to call me Eddie. I was quite looking forward to it, actually.” He whispered against my collarbone, kissing it and making my eyes close in pure heaven.

“Eddie…” I whispered slowly. His nose trailed against the nerve that ran in my neck, and my entire body shivered as I could feel his cold breaths on my shoulder. He was propped on his arms, as not to crush me, but his body was still lined against mine and I could feel his coldness seep through his clothes and into me.

“I love you so entirely much, Bella Swan. You have stolen my heart, and made me feel complete.” He murmured.

“You are my everything, Edward. I would give you anything and you are mine forever, understand?” I said officially, feeling more confident as his breath became as ragged as my own.

“I understand completely, madam; because you are also mine and only mine.” He said as his velvety voice became a little rough, through what I imagined was lust.

“I’m good with that.” I said simply before his lips captured my own, and my breaths decided to stop completely.

Edward’s POV:

A little while later, I held Bella’s waist as we headed out of my room, and I was unable to keep the smug grin off of my face…her blush was quite deeper than usual, and she stumbled a few times as we headed downstairs to the living room, where everyone seemed occupied.

“Edward, do you have the new Quietdrive CD?” Emmett suddenly asked me. I was focusing on Bella so I couldn’t really understand anyone else’s thoughts.

“Yes, I ordered it a month ago, would you like to hear it?” I asked him. His mind said yes, so I ran up quickly, grabbed it from under the 2006 frame and then ran downstairs. Bella seemed a bit startled by my speed once again, and I gave her a smile before popping the CD into the downstairs stereo and putting the volume into a lower pitch, so that it would blend into the background.

I went over and sat next to Bella, putting my arm around her shoulders. Her body snuggled into my chest; her natural warmth ignited my cold skin. I looked around at everyone enjoying themselves: Carlisle and Esme laughing with Ally. Emmett and Jasper teaching Dan how to play a card game, and Rosalie and Alice playing with Ally’s hair, making plans for shopping trips. Everyone seemed so content, and when I looked down at Bella, she gave a long sigh and reached up to kiss my neck.

“Welcome home, Eddie…” She whispered.
