Bella's POV

Lying here, in Edward's arms, it was so perfect. Such a happy moment, but like all happy moments, it didn't last. I had to tell him.

"Edward, I have to say something to you." I kept my eyes fixed to the pretty flower decoration on my comforter.

"What is it?" He didn't sound too worried at my statement. I sighed and put my hands in my lap.

"Bella? Are you okay?" Feeling the tension that grew in the room, Edward moved his arm off my shoulder. We both sat there, waiting for my answer. My statement. My news.

"Edward, I...Um... I am being... Sent away..." The words struggled to be freed from my lips. I took in a deep breath and waited for his response. I turned my head up to look at him. His eyes were fixed on my face, which now showed worry on it. He wasn't breathing. He wasn't moving. He just sat there staring at me, and I to him. I swallowed hard and looked back down at my hands placed in my lap. I hadn't noticed he had gotten up until I had the courage to look back up at him. He was standing, facing the door, his palm pressed against his forehead.

"Edward..." I started to remove the blanket from me, when his hand stopped mine. I looked up at his stunned face and sighed.

"Edward, I going on my first mission with my sisters to many parts of the world. I get to travel and see new and exotic places!" I tried my hardest to sound cheerful about it, to be reassuring to him. But he still held his eyes sharply to the floor. I was about to move his hand away from the blanket when it let go of my comforter and took hold of my hand. I looked up at Edward in surprise. He was sitting back down with my hand in his. But his back was still faced toward me. I opened my mouth to feed him more reassuring truth about my mission, but he beat me to the point.

"Where might you be going? And for how long will you be gone?" He spoke without turning to look at me. I smiled slightly and answered.

"I'm going to three different areas and I will be gone for about a month. Two months at the most." I spoke in a cheerful voice, and waited for his response.

"Where are you going in these two months?" He asked, again, his back to me.

"Well, first I am going to France, and then flying out to Africa and Brazil. Then of course, I'm coming back home." I answered. This time he looked back at me with cold eyes. I was shocked to see this.

"Why are you going to all these places? And I thought you couldn't go on missions." He stated.

"Well, were going for confidential reasons and I am now allowed to join my sisters on this mission." I told him with a small smile on my face. But that smile dropped when he, once again, turned away from me and stared at the wall. We sat in silence for a while, until he broke it with another question.

"What's so confidential about this mission of yours?" He asked.

"Um... Well... It has to do with my kind and has nothing to do with yours. So it's basically none of your business." I realized those were not the best words to have chosen in that sentence. For after that, Edward got up, let go of my hand and walked right out of the room. Not looking back at me once. I sighed and looked down at my hands.

"Not the wisest chose of words sister." Haley's snobbish voice echoed.

"I guess it runs in the family to have trouble with words. Our actions speak loudest." I shot back at her.

"Is it really my fault that I'm in love?" She asked walking closer to my bed.

"I should have told him." I whispered, ignoring her question.

"No, you did the right thing by not telling him of our family confidential business. Like you said, it really wasn't any of his concern." She teased me with my own words.

"Oh, go fuck Felix, Haley. I'm sure your presence then might brighten someone else's day. I am in no need for your company." I smiled wickedly as she stormed out of the room. Once again I was left alone to the emptiness...
