Esme sat on the pristine white couch of her home, feeling alone. Alice and Jasper were taking a vacation in Milan and Rosalie and Emmett were on their honeymoon in Paris. Carlisle had been working nights all week. She sighed, feeling alone. Suddenly, Carlisle entered through the door.
Half past twelve
And I'm watching the late show in my flat all alone
How I hate to spend the evening on my own
Blowing outside the window as I look around the room

Won't somebody help me chase the shadows away
Gimme gimme gimme a man after midnight
Take me through the darkness to the break of the day

Later on that night, the Cullen home was set afire by congratulations, hugs, and fond hopes for their new brother or sister. Esme smiled and put her hands on top of her stomach, already fantasizing about the baby kicking or seeing it on the ultra sound. She could not help but smile as she thought:
I’m pregnant. Finally!
