You Belong With Me

Summary:
Short story based on the the song 'You belong with me' by Taylor Swift.

Notes:
This is just a short little story to get my writing flowing. I don't usually listen to country music but this song is so cute. So um... I don't own Twilight, dang.

But she wears short skirts, I wear t-shirts
She's cheer captain and I'm on the bleachers
Dreaming bout the day when you'll wake up and find
That what you're lookin’ for has been here the whole time

"Ah-coo! God I hate this weather." Alice said.

"I know I do too." I tried to say between coughs.

"Die Forks!" We said at the same time, laughing as Jasper shook his head at us, I guarantee he thinks we’re crazy. We ran inside quickly as it started to rain, and took refugee by one of the many heaters in the hall way trying to warm up. I moved my guitar into my lap so I wouldn’t sit on it.

"How long do we have ‘til class?" Alice asked/yawned. It was still to early for anything of substance.

"Dunno," I yawned, strumming my guitar a little, playing a few of the cords to The Remedy by Jason Mraz.

"Play in guitar girl," Emmet laughed walking up to us from across the hall. I laughed as he grabbed my hand and pulled me up. I started playing the song for real, singing along with Emmett.

"I saw fireworks from the freeway and behind closed eyes I cannot make them go away
Cause you were born on the fourth of July, freedom ring now something on the surface it stings that something on the surface it kind of makes me nervous who says that you deserve this and what kind of god would serve this? We will cure this dirty old disease
if you've gots the poison I've gots the remedy" I sang.

"The remedy" Emmett jumped in singing along with me, "is the experience. It is a dangerous liaison I say the comedy is that its serious. Which is a strange enough new play on words I say the tragedy is how you're gonna spend the rest of your nights with the light on. So shine the light on all of your friends when it all amounts to nothing in the end. I won't worry my life away. I won't worry my life away."

He jumped out leaving me to sing, "I heard two men talking on the radio in a cross fire kind of new reality show. Uncovering the ways to plan the next big attack they were counting down the days to stab the brother in the be right back after this the unavoidable kiss, where the minty fresh death breath is sure to outlast his catastrophe dance with me, because if you've gots the poison, I've gots the remedy."

"The remedy is the experience. It is a dangerous liaison." We both sang, "I say the comedy is that its serious. Which is a strange enough new play on words. I say the tragedy is how you're gonna spend the rest of your nights with the light on. So shine the light on all of your friends when it all amounts to nothing in the end. I won't worry my life away. I won’t worry my life away."

"When I fall in love I take my time," Emmett continued singing with me, instead of jumping out after the chorus. "There's no need to hurry when I'm making up my mind. You can turn off the sun but I'm still gonna shine and I'll tell you why. Because, the remedy is the experience. It is a dangerous liaison I say the comedy is that its serious. Which is a strange enough new play on words I say the tragedy is how you're gonna spend the rest of your nights with the light on. So shine the light on all of your friends when it all amounts to nothing in the end."

He jumped out again, letting me finish off the song. "I won't worry my life away. I won't worry my life away. I won't and I won't and I won't. I won’t worry my life away…" I finished, finally noticing the crowd that had gathered around us. I laughed and smiled as bulky Emmett put me on his shoulders.

I could see Edward out of the corner of my eye, smiling and clapping. I swear his smile let up the whole room. I smiled big and waved at him, before realizing how dorky that would look.

But he waved back making me feel slightly better. I saw Tanya over his shoulder, glaring at me. Her phone out and ready to text. As she looked at me her acrylic nails started to dance, a sneer on her face.

Emmett let me down, and Jasper and Alice quickly intercepted me. Knowing that if they were to let people converge around us after something like this we’d never get to class. Edward rushed up, through the crowds.

"That was really good Bella!" He said, hugging me. I swear I melted. I could barely hug back. "You too Emmett," he said to the giant over my shoulder.

"Thanks," we both said. As out whole group talked, and I noticed I was next to Tanya of all people. We were both avidly ignoring each other, Tanya texting again as none of us except Edward was really her friend. Until Rosalie showed up coming into view from behind Emmet, and hugging his arm, speaking to Tanya about cheerleading. I really don’t care.

Nor do I understand how Edward can be best friends with someone, and date a completely different person. Our clothes, show exactly what I’m talking about. She had on a tight, short as all hell mini skirt, and of all things a tube top. Both different shades of pink. If her dad wasn’t high and mighty in this town, I’m sure she would be sent home for breaking the dress code. It was a sharp contrast to my skinny jeans, and bright yellow Green Day T-shirt.

The bell rings and we all scatter, and for the moment I stopped worrying about Edward, and my social life in general, and started worrying about, my trig and government test. And English, and my final essay… Damn….
