“Edward!” All of the Cullens turned to face Alice who was grasping the stair banister tightly, her pixie features blank but upset. “Edward! There’s someone coming!”

Everyone swung round to glance at Edward who was standing with a similar expression. “I know,” he whispered.

“Who’s coming, Alice?” Jasper swept up beside his lover, stroking her face gently in an attempt to drive away her anguish.

“A vampire.”

“Are they a threat?”

Alice shook her head as Edward cringed. “Not to... us.”

“What’s the problem then?” asked Emmett, grinning despite the coldness that began to soak into everyone else’s auras.

“He’s after Bella,” growled Edward darkly.

Emmett shrugged, still smiling. “So let him come. If there’s only one, we’ll be able to take him down easy.”

“He’s not like us.” Everyone looked back to Alice. “He burns in the sunlight. He can possess the humans. And he’s seeking revenge.”

“Revenge?” Esme glanced at Carlisle worriedly. “But what have we done?”

“Not against us,” corrected Edward tensely. “Against his brother.”

“His brother?” Carlisle frowned.

“I need to go now,” said Edward. Everyone but the blank faced Alice wished him luck before trying to pull more information out of her.

A hand with an elaborate ring on it’s middle finger pushed open the door to the Seattle bar. The man’s blue eyes swept the room confidently from underneath the thick black eyebrows as he walked inside before his perfect lips stretched into a smug smile. The majority of the woman in here had caught sight of him and were trying to hide their obvious attraction to him although every one of them was failing.

He unzipped his black leather jacket, pretending to be affected by the intense heat of the room.

That was when one girl caught his eye in particular. His heart thudded excitedly as he tried to control himself.

“What are you doing in Seattle?” asked Damon smoothly, his arm resting behind the brunette as he slid into the booth next to her. His breath blew onto her neck causing her to sit up and turn to face him. “Where’s-?”

His head tilted to the side, his raven black hair glinting in the poor lighting. “You’re not Elena,” Damon stated, temporarily losing his composure before leaning back in so his lips were barely an inch from hers. “Can I get you a drink in apology for mistaking you for someone with half of your beauty?”

The girl’s big brown eyes flicked down to his lips and back into his eyes. Her straight white teeth began to nibble at her rosy lips and Damon tried to compel her into accepting his invitation. “Sorry,” he smirked seductively. “Excuse me. I’m Damon. Nice to meet you.”

“Bella.” Finally the girl responded! It brought a fresh wave of smugness. Let’s see if Stefan would take this girl off him.

“What a beautiful name,” murmured Damon, his hand reaching up to push back a strand of brown hair behind her ear. “What would you like to drink, Bella?”

“I’m fine, thank you,” she began to stutter, but Damon pressed a finger against her lips to silence her.

“Wait, I know what you would like.” Damon grinned wolfishly, pulling her out of the booth with him. “Come with me.”

Bella complied nervously. What were Angela and Mike going to do when they saw her up at the bar with a stranger? She prayed that there was an impossible queue for the toilets as Damon slipped his arm around her waist. Bella tried to step away and Damon apologised like a gentlemen and moved his hand around her shoulders.

“What can I get you?” asked the woman behind the bar. She fluttered her false eyelashes and leaned forward so her cleavage was obvious. Bella grimaced. Never was she letting Mike organise another night out after this one.

Damon did that “eye thing” he had tried on Bella several times whilst in the booth. “Well, I will have a beer and my friend will have a glass of your finest Black Magic wine, if you please.” As the woman prepared the drinks, Damon winked at Bella. “You’ll love it, trust me. I know of no one who can resist an innocent glass of Black Magic.”

Damon paid without fuss and waited for Bella to take a sip of her drink. It was like nothing she had ever tasted. She realised how thirsty she had been and began to gulp down the liquid.

“Woah, steady there!” Damon pulled the glass away from her lips and began to move away from her. “Let’s take these outside. It was barely drizzling when I arrived.”

Bella followed him without question. The drink was making her feel slightly tipsy. Absentmindedly she wondered what percentage the wine was. She noted Damon was dressed solely in black. I wonder if his pants are as black as his jeans, she chuckled inwardly before disciplining her mind. She belonged to Edward. And Jacob had second dibs. The alcohol was going to her head but she didn’t want to hold it back.

Damon replaced the drink in her hand. “It’s a beautiful night, don’t you think?” His blue eyes slipped from her face to the V in her blue jumper. “It’s almost as seductive as your jumper. The colour compliments your skin, you know.”

“Thank you,” smiled Bella. Something was telling her someone was also partial to the same colour, but the fog of her drink made it difficult to recall. She took another sip and sighed.

A cold breeze blew through the trees, causing her to shiver. “Here,” said Damon, pulling off his leather jacket and holding it out for her to put her arms through, revealing a tight fit black t-shirt underneath.

“But won’t you-?”

“I’ll be fine,” Damon assured her as he helped her pull the jacket on. “Oh dear, you feel quite cold. Come here, I’ll warm you up.” He pulled her closer to him, tipping her head up. “You know,” he whispered as he stared into Bella’s brown eyes. “You remind me of someone.”

“Who?” breathed Bella as Damon’s head inclined slightly.

“Well, two people actually. Their names are Katherine and Elena. My brother, Stefan, loves them both as much as I do, and do you know what he did?”

“No.” Bella’s eyes were on Damon’s lips. They were almost perfect, second only to someone who should be important to her, but she forgot his name.

“He took them both away from me.” Damon’s warm breath blew over her face. “So do you know what I’m going to do?”

“No...” Bella was leaning in.

“I am going to distract him with you while I steal them back,” Damon whispered. “Because he’s as much of a sucker for brown eyes and hair as I am, Bella.” Bella’s eyes closed as Damon’s lips came into contact with hers. His tongue entered her mouth without encouragement. Before Bella could pass out from sheer ecstasy, Damon pulled his head back...

...And immediately plunged his teeth into her throat.

Edward barged into the bar, searching for Bella. “Edward!” His head snapped to a booth by the bar. Angela was smiling and waving at him. Without hesitation he approached them.

“Angela, Mike,” nodded Edward. “Where’s Bella?”

“I don’t know.” Angela frowned at the tenseness radiating from the addition to the group. “We left for the toilets and when I came back she wasn’t here. Maybe she needed the loo too?”

“Maybe,” said Edward, deciding it was easier to agree than disagree. “Have you seen a man in a leather jacket?”

They both shook their heads. Angela slid out of the booth. “I’ll go and check the ladies room for you. There’s a porch outside you might want to check. She might have needed some air or something...”

Edward moved on the border of too fast in his desperation to find Bella.

Damon raised his head, eyes closed as he memorised the taste of fresh blood. This Bella girl was delicious. How had he managed to choose the tastiest woman in the room, he didn’t know. It must be my dashing looks and impossible charm, supposed Damon as he contemplated continuing his pleasure against keeping her alive for extended enjoyment. He would turn her but would her blood taste the same?

Damon opened his eyes to look at the girl who was staring dreamily over his shoulder but was distracted by a figure approaching him with vampire speed.

“Stefan?” Damon blinked as the vampire raced at him. He brought his hand up to catch the fist that was flying towards his face. “What’re you doing here? I thought you were going to stay in Mystic Falls with your girlfriends. Or have they suddenly turned on you for keeping them both at the same time?”

“I am not your brother,” growled the boy who looked like Stefan. “Get your hands off my fiancé.”

“Whatever, Stefan,” scoffed Damon, inclining his head as he made his decision. “You already have two women I want, at least let me keep this one.”

The vampire ripped the jacket off Bella and tossed it over the fence. Damon’s blue eyes raised slowly to his butterscotch ones. “That was Armani, butt wipe,” snarled Damon, tossing the drunken Bella girl to one side as he stepped forward for the fight.

Jasper and Emmett stepped out behind Edward to face the mystery vampire.

“Is this the dude who kidnapped Bella, Edward?” asked Emmett, cracking his knuckles.

“Yes,” answered Edward at the same time Damon cried “I didn’t kidnap anyone actually. It’s not my style.”

“What is your style?” Jasper stepped forward, sending clouds of fear towards the man in black.

“It’s not like you would listen anyway is it?” Damon retorted, his blue eyes dilating. “You know what? If you want her, have her. I’m not a fan of freesias or strawberries.” Damon pushed through the adopted brothers and left.

“Track him for me Emmett, please,” asked Edward through gritted teeth. “Make sure he doesn’t pick up anyone else.”

Emmett nodded and followed Damon through the bar. Jasper stepped forward to help Edward with Bella. “I’ve never felt such anguish,” sighed Jasper, pulling a face that was not dissimilar to a human’s after drinking lemon juice. “He really loves those girls his brother took from him.”

“Jasper, help me get her home,” said Edward. Jasper nodded and they both lifted Bella from the ground with ease, Edward at her head and Jasper at her feet.
