"Bells, call me when you arrive in San Diego. I want to make sure you make it there," Charlie told me with a smile as he shook Edward's hand. "And it's good to have you home, Edward."

"I will, Dad," I told Charlie as I watched him leave and I looked up into Edward's green eyes, blushing just the slightest. "I guess we should go on to the house to meet your parents?"

"We could or we can get a bite to eat first?" Edward said with a smile as his stomach growled. "The plane ride home had terrible food. I'm hungry."

I smiled and I nodded my head as we walked out of the police station and headed to the lodge to get a bite to eat. I knew that would please Edward Cullen.

We were sitting in The Lodge, waiting for our waitress to bring our drinks, while we were looking over the menu. I couldn't help myself but to glance up at him. How could I not? Edward Cullen was the most attractive man that I had ever laid my eyes on. I wasn't even sure if I should, since I was still upset to the fact that Jacob had cheated on me. What sucked was that Jacob made it obvious that he wanted my body and only that. I had really thought that Jacob loved me, but he didn't. Maybe he had when we started dating, but it had been over for quite some time before it truly ended.

Before we came to The Lodge, I had changed into a more comfortable pair of light blue shorts that Alice had bought for me. They were very short, almost like Daisy Dukes, but they showed off my long legs, which Alice commented I should show more of. I had paired them with a pink peasant top that hung off my shoulders and a pair of white sandals.

I looked across the table at Edward, who set his menu down, and I set mine down, already knowing what it was that I wanted to eat. He just smiled at me and it literally made me want to move closer to the attractive Cullen. I still couldn't believe how Charlie acted with Edward. I had to ask Alice if she had something to do with that, though. Charlie never really liked boys and he usually scared them when he pulled his gun out of his hip holster.

I was about to say something when Edward's phone vibrated against the table and I watched him pick it up before he set it back down.

"So… it seems to me that everyone's left for San Diego already. You don't mind riding with me, do you?" he asked me as he flashed me the charming smile that always made me swoon. "Although, if you do mind, we can go ahead and get you some word searches or something to entertain-"

"No, no, that's all right," I told Edward with a smile as our waitress came back.

It honestly made me sick to my stomach as I watched the redheaded, busty waitress stick out her chest. She had even applied some makeup. In my opinion, it was way too much. She'd unbuttoned a button at the top of her blouse to give Edward a good look at her cleavage. God, what the hell was wrong with this girl? She looked too young for him, too. I then watched her set Edward's iced tea in front of him, along with my raspberry lemonade in front of me.

"Hello, have you decided what you want, Cutie?" she asked, flaunting herself at him, and it made me sick to my stomach.

"I know what I want," I said with a smile, earning a grin from Edward, and I licked my lips.

"I wasn't really talking to you," the waitress said, glaring at me before she smiled at Edward." What would you like, handsome?"

"Well, um, I wasn't talking to you, ma'am. I was actually looking at my boyfriend, who obviously has no interest in you," I said, earning a bigger grin from Edward's direction, and he glanced over at the waitress.

"Are you serious?" she asked in shock, her eyes looking away from me to Edward, who just smiled at me. "Are you really with her?"

"I don't think that is any of your business," Edward scoffed as he gave my hand a squeeze, flashing me a huge grin, and he placed his other hand on top of mine. "Besides, she's older than you. You're like fifteen or sixteen."

I smirked at the shocked look on her face and I was relieved when she left after we ordered our meals. As I slid my hand out of his, I felt my heart racing against my chest, and I glanced over to him. I had never felt such a connection with anyone – not even Jacob, and that scared me… a lot.

When she called me her boyfriend in front of that rather annoying, young waitress, I couldn't hide the grin from her. It was so strange how good it felt for her to call me that. Was it so wrong that I wanted to be her boyfriend, though? Of all the girls I had met over the years, it didn't even bother me. I knew that Lauren Mallory would have been pissed and that made my smile bigger.

"Did you know that you could get any girl want?" she laughed as she looked at me before glancing around the diner and then back to me.

"Eh, yeah, but I'm not just going to date anyone. The local girls here aren't what I am looking for," I told her with a nod as I took a sip of my iced tea. "And don't get me started on the girls from my school."

I growled low in my throat when I heard that whiney voice and I gave Bella an apologetic look in my eyes. I knew that Lauren had been infatuated with me since she transferred in her second year but I never gave in. I didn't like those 'easy' type of girls and that's the type of girl that Lauren was. I wanted a girl like… well, like Bella. She was so beautiful and I loved how she was so self-confident in how she looked.

What I really loved was what she was wearing. What guy wouldn't love to see Isabella Swan in that? Now, if only she could bend over, and give me a view of that nice a-

"Eddie, what are you doing here?" Lauren frowned as she approached the table with a few girls behind her and she looked at Bella. "Is this your sister?"

"Oh! You're Lauren Mallory?" Bella smirked as she crossed her arms over her chest. "Rosalie told me so much about you, Lauren, and well, I really don't like you."

'Oh hell yeah,' I thought to myself as I watched Lauren, hoping that she wouldn't retaliate.

"What the hell? You're here with my man. I should be so upset."

"Lauren, we're not together."

"Yeah, you're not with him, and I don't see your name across his forehead, Lauren. You should just scram. We're busy," Bella said to me as she slid her hand across the table, intertwining our fingers together.

"Edward, how could you-"

"Lauren, don't, it's obvious that he has no taste."

I looked behind Lauren to see Jessica Stanley and Angela Weber. I knew it wasn't Angela Weber because she actually was good friends with Bella from what Alice and Rosalie had told me.

"Will you two stop?"

Angela looked at them with a shake of her head. "You two are acting like you're in high school. Get over it. Edward would never be interested in either one of you, and honestly, I'm so glad because it shows that he isn't like the rest of the guys here in Forks."

I chuckled as I watched their mouths drop after Angela left them staring after her, wondering why she would say such a thing.

"Man, how did you tolerate attending college with her?"

I laughed as I shrugged my shoulders. "I stayed busy. I joined as many functions I could without being near her."

As our young waitress came to our table, placing our food in front of us, I smiled at her, watching her walk away. I had ordered myself some chicken tenders, a side order or green beans, macaroni and cheese, and wedges. Edward had ordered a steak, mashed potatoes, mixed vegetables, and a biscuit.

While the two of us began to eat our food, I smiled to myself, thinking of how today's events had gone. My father actually liked Edward. Maybe it was because he was Alice's brother, or it was actually possible that Alice had talked to my father about being nice. Then, Edward and I continued on pretending that we were dating to push away our waitress, along with Lauren Mallory. Although, I had a feeling that this was only the start for Lauren Mallory, and it was a good thing she was staying down here.

. . . . .

As we walked out of The Lodge, I saw Angela by Edward's car, and I instantly became concerned. Usually, she was more put together, but I noticed the tears in her eyes. Angela was usually strong-willed and I frowned. I came up beside her, placing a hand gently on her shoulder, while Edward watched me.

"Angela?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper, and I looked over at her.

"Oh, um, I'm sorry," Angela frowned as she moved away slightly and she sighed. "Lauren and Jessica –"

"Don't worry about it. Those two aren't that important."

I then got a sudden idea, especially since Angela and I hadn't had any fun together in quite some time.

I then turned to Edward with a smile. "Hey Edward, do your parents care if we add one more guest?"

Edward smiled at me and he shook his head. "No." He then paused. "Hey, Angela, to cheer you up, how would you like to come along with us?"

"Where are you two going?" Angela asked with curiosity in her eyes as she looked between Edward and me. "I don't want to intrude in on your date with Edward."

"Date?" I smiled at her with a grin. "It was all an act. Edward and I aren't really dating. It's just… Lauren's nasty and Jessica's stuck up. We're going to San Diego. Edward's parents have this really huge beach house and it'll be fun. Besides, one of Edward's friends there is single…"

"Oh yeah, I haven't seen Ben in years!" Edward chuckled as he walked next to me, practically cornering Angela. "C'mon, it'll be fun. Why don't you get packed? Can you help her, Bella? I need to get some food since I don't plan on stopping on our sixteen hour drive."

"You guys are serious?" Angela asked in shock as she looked between Edward and me, the smiles on our faces never disappearing. "I really don't want to impose."

"Oh please, you're getting the chance to meet one of Edward's friends. You're coming. Besides, when was the last time you had a boyfriend?"

"Oh, um... that would be my freshman year in high school."

I nodded and then shook my head, laughing. "Yeah, c'mon… it will also give us some time to hang out."

In the end, I got Angela to agree, and before we all knew it, we were all in Edward's silver Volvo with all of our suitcases after I promised Angela's father that we would take wonderful care of his baby girl. All I knew was I was glad I wasn't stuck in a car with Edward alone. With my still mourning my relationship with Jacob, I would have freaked out.
