The Broken Moonlight

Bella just got her heart broken when her high school sweetheart, Edward Cullen, broke her heart. It's been two years since she's been on a date. Jacob and Bella went to high school together. Jacob was the captain of the football team and Bella stayed to herself. It's been four years since they've seen each other. At the time in high school, Jacob and Rosalie were together. Rosalie's with Bella's brother, Emmett. What happens when Jake sees Bella after four years?

I beamed with excitement. "When did you guys want to go?"

"Would now be an inconvenience?" Rosalie asked as she held Emmett's hand, leaning onto him.

"If you guys don't mind letting me shower and change?"

"No, go right ahead, Jacob," Alice beamed as she pushed me in the direction of the hallway and I glared at her. "We will be here waiting."

"Fine," I grumbled as I walked away after grabbing a pair of jeans from the couch, earning a disgusted look from Alice's face. "I'll be back soon."

Oh boy, she was so adorable even when she tripped over her two feet. She pouted as she just sat there, watching the ball roll down the lane before it went into the gutter, earning another pout that broke free from her lips at that very moment. If anything, she was just too precious, and before Rose or Alice could come to her, I walked over, kneeling down to her level.

"I suck, don't I?" she asked with a frown as she looked over, causing me to smile even more and I looked at her with a grin. "You've come here to rub it in my face, right?"

I was stunned by her words and I frowned. "No, I was going to offer you my help… if you'd like?"

When I saw that smile on her face, I stood up and helped her up to her feet. I couldn't help but to check her out, those jeans hugging her hips and ass, while her pleasant off the shoulder top showed lots of skin and cleavage.

"By the way, you look great," I whispered into her ear, seeing her cheeks flushing with redness from the blood flowing there.

"Thank you," she said shyly as she grabbed the ball in her hand.

When I grabbed the purple bowling ball, I literally almost dropped it, but Jacob's reflexes were wonderful because he grabbed it right before it fell toward the ground.

"Careful, Bella!"

I rolled my eyes to Emmett's words and I shook my head. "I'm such a klutz. I can never do anything right."

"I think that it is pretty adorable," he told me, which caused my cheeks to flush due to my embarrassment from acting like such a fool. "But your blushing is even more radiant, Bella."

Oh, fuck no. He pointed out my blushing cheeks. I shook my head in embarrassment when he stepped closer to me, then lined up to the line to throw this stupid bowling ball to hit at least one pin.

"What are you doing?" I asked, feeling his body so close to mine. I bit my lip, trying to control myself from the very thoughts.

"I thought I'd help you," he whispered into my ear, sliding closer to where his body was pressing against me. I took a sharp breath at the closeness. "I mean, if you want me to?"

"Uh, sure," I squeaked as I looked to his hands coming around to help me hold the bowling ball in my hands.

My eyes went wide at how close Jacob was becoming to Bella. Never in my life had I seen Jacob like this, especially when I could tell by the body language from the two of them that they liked each other. This was the part when the girl would want to leave from being so close but Bella wasn't like most women in Forks. No, she had so much respect for her body, and he knew it too.

"Do you see them?" I whispered to Alice, who nodded her head eagerly and played with her engagement ring that Jasper had given to her a few months ago. "They're basically having sex."

"Oh, angel, don't say stuff like that," Emmett grumbled as he got up to walk away from us. He went to go get some more food and proceeded to shake his head.

I laughed when he was out of earshot. "My poor bear probably thinks his sister is a virgin still. It's so sad."

Alice laughed with me. "Probably."

I then heard a scream of excitement leave Bella's lips and saw that she had thrown her arms around Jacob's neck when a few pins went down. I had to contain my laughter because a few girls looked at Bella with envy in their eyes due to Jacob being here with her instead of them.

They would never get Jacob at this point from the silly smile that was plastered across his face. Oh yeah, Alice and I had done it. We had given the two the push that they needed. I was just hoping that this just didn't blow up in our faces either. That's the last thing we needed, right?

I just couldn't keep my hands to myself and it definitely didn't bother me. With Emmett giving me that brotherly death stare, I just chuckled as I slid my hand down to Bella's hip, helping her hold the ball directly in her hands while her eyes sparkled. Even though she wasn't winning, Bella and I really didn't care at the moment because this was what mattered to us both – having the time of our lives.

"Thank you, Jacob," she said in a soft voice, as she looked over her shoulder to look at me. The ball slipped from her fingers and right into the gutter, a laugh leaving her lips. "Whoops."

I chuckled as I bit down into my bottom lip. "You know… I really want to take you out sometime when your brother, Alice, and Rose aren't watching us."

I watched her blush and a little laugh left her lips. "I want some ice cream. Want to take me for some ice cream now?"

I was smiling from ear to ear as he led me into Cold Stone. How did he know that this was my favorite ice cream in the world? I hadn't even told Rosalie, Alice, or Emmett. I loved watching how they made the ice cream because it was just amazing how the workers did it. Not even Edward had taken me here when I wanted to go to it.

"How did you know that I like this place?" I asked with a raised eyebrow.

"Who doesn't like it? I've been coming here for the last fifteen years," he told me with a huge smile on his face, shaking his head. "You still want to taste the ice cream here, right?"

I nodded my head eagerly as I looked over at the different flavors that I had never tried. My eyes lit up like a kid in a candy shop and I smirked over at him.

"You can get anything you want, Bella," he told me, grabbing my hand. "Which one do you want?"

"I hear the cookie dough flavor is good?" I asked as I looked over at him, watching him nod his head in agreement.

"Oh yeah, that's good, but I'm a fan of butterscotch," he shrugged with a twinkle in his eye as we then began to order our ice cream.

I stood there stunned as I looked at Emmett, who then looked at Edward, who looked so confused to why we weren't welcoming him with open arms.

"Did I do something?"

I gave Edward a cold stare as I looked at him with a shake of my head. After what Jacob had told Emmett and I about him cheating on Bella with Tanya, I just didn't have any respect for him. I mean, why would I after he had intentionally cheated on Bella? It was just something that I wasn't sure of.

"Does Tanya ring a bell?" Emmett asked with a growl leaving his lips, shaking his head. "I don't understand how you could do this to my sister."

Edward sighed as a deep breath left his lips. "It was just one time when Bella got mad at me. I know I should not have done –"

"No, you shouldn't have, and because of you, she's going to get the chance at real love," Rosalie said with a shake of her head, shooting Edward a look.

Bella was dating? Oh fuck, this was bad, and here I thought if I came back, I could win her heart again. I could not help but wonder who she was giving her heart to. I raked my hand through my hair as I stood in the entrance of Emmett's house, where four of my good friends were scowling at me.

"She's dating?" I asked as I looked at them with a raised eyebrow. "Who's she dating, anyway?"

"Not that it's any of your business… it's Jacob."

"Jacob! Are you talking about Jacob Black, who teased her in high school?"

When they nodded their heads, I couldn't believe this. Why would Bella date someone like Jacob, especially after what hell he had put her through?

"Why would she date someone like him? He's bad news!"

"That's your own opinion but you cheated on Bella. How many times did you sleep with Tanya?"

I sighed as I looked down at the ground. I had only slept with Tanya once and she had wounded up pregnant. It was when I found out what happened when Tanya called me on Bella's birthday. It was why I had been a complete asshole to my Bella at her own birthday party.

"Once… it was just one time," I sighed as I ran my hand through my hair again, further gazing down at the ground. "On Bella's birthday party was when I found out Tanya was pregnant."

"That phone call," Alice breathed as she looked over at me. "That phone call where you stepped out… that was Tanya calling you, wasn't it?"

I nodded my head. When I slept with Tanya, it had been while I had been drunk, and it had been awful when I woke up. Tanya had sprayed some of Bella's perfume on me to trick me into making me believe that I was making love to Bella. My beeper paged and I sighed.

"I got to go," I mumbled as I looked at the page from the babysitter.

"I…I've got to pick up my daughter, Elisabeth."

"It was true," Emmett sighed as he ran his fingers through his hair and he saw the envy in Rosalie's eyes. "Look, I am still upset at you for hurting my sister, and I don't want the details but… it's still early. Would you like some company?"

All of the sudden, it was like I had my family back. All I did was nod my head.

I smirked when I saw some ice cream on the tip of her nose. Not being able to help myself, I reached forward with my thumb, cleaning the cool content and watched her eyes light up. Good lord, she was so precious, and I didn't want this moment to end. Many girls were my motto, but when I was with Bella, she was the only one I wanted. Even when I dated Rosalie, I didn't feel like this. I was so full of hope right now.

"Oh, thank you," she smiled at me as she took another bite of her ice cream from the spoon. I could not help but smile over at her.

I nodded my head in her direction as I took a final bite of my ice cream. "Are you having a good time?"

"Mm-hmm," she said with a smile, setting her spoon down. "I am not used to guys wanting me, especially very attractive teachers… or coaches."

I chuckled at her words as I reached across the table, grabbing her hand in both of mine, letting the thumb of one of my hands slide over her palm.

"You better get used to it, Bella. I like you."

I watched her frown and I sighed. "But why do you like me?"

"Because you're beautiful and you deserve someone to take care of you."

I watched her frown disappear, a smile replacing it. "I've never had anyone want to take care of me before, Jacob."

"What about Edward?"

"That was high school," she shrugged, standing up.

I frowned after I threw our containers away in the trash, wrapping my arm around her shoulders to lead her out of Cold Stone. "I didn't bring up a touchy subject, did I?"

"No, it's fine," she said as she looked at me, sliding her body close to mine. "It's just hard. I mean, he was the love of my life."

I gritted my teeth sharply and before I knew it, I was spitting out words I never wanted her to hear from my very own lips. "Bella, Edward cheated on you with Tanya Denali in high school, and he knocked her up. It's why he didn't go to college with you."
