"Well, there's my home in Seattle, Jacob," Bella concluded as she looked at me. "It's really big since the Denali's like big things."
I raised an eyebrow as I looked over at her, and I had to admit that I would go anywhere she would go. Although, the pack – I wasn't so sure about. Even if they didn't move to Seattle, I sure in hell would, and they wouldn't be able to stop me, no matter what. I had imprinted on Bella. Even though she was a vampire, I felt the need to protect her.
"You would have to talk to Sam," I said, as I watched her put the photo album back in the bag.
"Could we… go and see him?"
"Yes, let's go. Sam has a girlfriend, though, and she's human. Can you handle that?"
As I watched her nod her head, we headed towards Sam and Emily's house on the reservation. Sam did offer to invite Bella to the reservation, so I knew it wouldn't be any surprise. Besides, the guys would be able to smell Bella once she was on the reservation.
So, here we were, standing in front of Sam's house, and I was pretty sure that Sam could smell Bella. Then again, he probably had her smell down to a notch. Also, maybe the reason he hadn't come outside was because he could smell my scent with her? I really didn't know but I was just glad that the pack was coming near us even though they were watching Bella like a hawk, especially Paul.
"Hurry up, Jacob," Bella said with an agitated voice in her throat and she gave me a small smile. "I don't have all day, you know. I do have to get back to Kate, Tanya, and Garrett."
I rolled my eyes as I gave her a look, causing me to smile when I heard Emily yelling at Sam to get the door. It seemed like he was complaining or something. When it came to Sam, you just never knew.
"I am glad to see you finally arrived," Sam said into Bella's direction, giving me a nod, and then stepped aside. "I am very pleased that you two are here."
"Why is that?" I asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Because… Emily's glad to meet another female that isn't her cousin."
Didn't this Emily care that it was a huge possibility that I could kill her? I was a vampire and the poor girl was a human. I could smell her blood right when we had entered the reservation. I had been under control of not feeding from a human for a year from learning the basics from Kate. She was like my mother and she was the best thing that could have happened to me too.
"You must be Bella!" Emily smiled when we walked into the kitchen, dusting her hands off of a rag off the edge of the counter. "I'd come close but well, Sam doesn't want anything bad to happen to me."
I nodded my head, standing close to Jacob. It was something that I liked and that was being so close to Jacob. I wasn't sure what it was, but then again, from what Jacob had told me, we had been friends. I wanted to learn lots about myself and Jacob seemed to be the only one to know. Edward and his family weren't in town since they had basically abandoned me.
"I'm pretty in control when it comes to human blood," I admitted as I looked at Sam, who was blocking my way of getting to Emily, and I didn't blame him. "I haven't tasted human blood in about two years."
"So, you've killed?"
"No, you misunderstood me," I began as I ran a hand through my hair, taking a seat in the chair that Sam motioned for me to sit at, at the table. "When I became a vampire, Victoria left me for dead, and the Denali's were the ones that found me. I was on the verge of death even though as a vampire, you're already considered dead."
"Interesting," Sam said as he looked over at me. "So, how did you get human blood?"
"Well, I said that I was on the verge of death once again. As Kate nursed me, Tanya and Garrett went to Seattle General. Yeah, basically a blood bank if you really think about it. Within minutes, I was well, but I had promised myself to not taste anything that way before. I didn't want to be a monster like James or Victoria…"
"James… who is that?"
I looked at Emily, who smiled at me, and I bit my lip.
"He was a vampire that tried to take my life as a human but Edward and his family came to the rescue…"
"He was Victoria's soul mate?"
I nodded my head slowly as James was the one thing that I didn't like to talk about.
"Enough about James and Victoria," Jacob said with a shake of his head. How did he even do that?
"All right, then. Bella, have you talked to the people you've been staying with to see what they thought about you staying here."
"Sam, that's out of the question," I told him with a bit of compassion in my eyes. "But there's one solution. My family is still leaving but they did say it would be okay if you guys could live there since it's pretty big."
"Bella, do you have any idea how many members are in the pack?" Sam asked me with a raised eyebrow.
"I can only imagine, Sam, but I am not kidding about how spacious the house is," I told him as I looked at Jacob, who was grinning like a fool. "And since Jacob has made it clear that he's going wherever I am going, you all would most likely want to be nearby."
Sam chuckled as he gave Emily's hand a gentle squeeze before he looked back to me. "Yeah, he'd move heaven and Earth for you, and-"
"Sam," Jacob said in a warning voice.
I looked over at Jacob with a raised eyebrow. Was I missing something? Jacob had been acting really weird and I didn't know what it was. Eventually, I would find out, right?
"Anyways, Bella told me that the woman that took her in would like to meet you, Sam," Jacob said with a nod as he glanced to Sam. "I don't blame her. After all, our kind and Bella's kind don't exactly get along, so it's pretty understandable that she wants to know that Bella would be in good hands."
"Well, we could go there," Sam said as he looked over at me with a smile. "I mean, we would have to see how big this house is…"
"From how big it is, Sam, I really would not classify it as a house," I told Sam with a smile. "Kate is at the house now but Tanya and Garrett will not be back until later tonight. They have no idea what's going on."
"Why is that?" Emily asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Because… those two are paranoid, and if they knew what was going on, it wouldn't be pretty," I said with a roll of my eyes and I looked at Sam. "So, how about we go now?"
I looked at the pack of wolves as they stood outside of the house that I had come accustomed to over the last, several years. I really hoped that this was a good idea but I was doing this for Bella. I didn't have to like any of them, but the more I learned more about Bella, the more I loved her like she was my very own daughter. I would do just about anything.
"Hello, you must be Sam?" I asked as I stared at the man in the middle, who stood at attention with pure Alpha male, and I saw the angry glares from a few of the wolves.
"Yes and you're Kate Denali, one of the vampires that saved Bella?"
I nodded as I stepped aside to let the wolves and Bella go inside, who was standing close to one of them, which I guessed was Jacob. He seemed really protective of her and I had to admit that I admired that very much. Although, I didn't even know him that entirely well, either, and that was something that would stick with me for a while until I was one hundred percent positive that she would really be all right.
"This is a really lovely home. I wouldn't change anything about it."
I looked at the woman next to the Alpha male and I simply nodded my head. "Thank you."
"It has this really god awful smell that –"
"Paul," Sam said in a warning voice as he turned to look at me. "I'm sorry about that."
"He's always like that – always so angry and vulgar… especially since my sister broke up with him," Jacob snickered as he looked over at Paul, who rolled his eyes. "Don't let it get to you. If he knows what's best for him, he won't lay a hand on Bella, you, or anyone in your family."
Oh, he was so kind, and I could see something in Bella's eyes. Was that hope that I saw?
"Thank you. You guys can look around. Sam, Jacob, and Emily, I'd like to talk to you."
As everyone, except for Bella, Jacob, Sam, and Emily followed me into the kitchen, I chuckled to the guy's looks on their faces when they saw the spread of sandwiches, chips, chicken, cupcakes, muffins, and orderves spread across the countertops.
"Is this all right? I remember from Bella telling me that you guys have huge appetites, right?" I asked as I looked at the two guys.
Emily smiled as she nodded her head. "This is more than enough and the kitchen's so huge."
I watched Bella's guardian nod her head and I sat down beside Sam, who grabbed a sandwich when Kate told us to dig in. As Sam handed Emily a sandwich when she sat on my lap, I smiled when I looked at Bella, who was standing next to Kate.
"So, do you still want Bella to stay here?" I asked, deciding to get the ball rolling.
Kate nodded her head with a smile. "Yes. I know that she isn't going to come with us now that you're back in her life, Jacob, and for some oddly reason, I really do trust you. I don't know you but I feel like I can truly trust you."
"I would never let anything happen to Bella. Even though she reeks, she's still a vampire," I said with a smile.
God, she didn't smell awful, but I wasn't about to risk the fact that I had actually imprinted on her. I felt Sam's eyes on mine and I rolled my eyes. He had told me more then three times that I needed to tell Bella what I had done to her. That was just a conversation I wasn't ready for.
"My sister, Tanya, and my mate, Garrett, have already left for Chicago, but I think that if you guys are interested, you could move in here with Bella?"
Sam looked at Kate when she said those words. "How is her… thirst around humans?"
Kate chuckled. "She's really amazing at that. Human blood – well, it's something that Bella's never been fond of. She's in really good hands and she won't hurt your own mate here, Sam."
Sam let out a shaky breath. "I'm sorry Bella and Kate."
"Don't be. You just want to protect her and that's totally understandable," Bella said with a nod of her head and she smiled over at me before looking back at Emily. "It would be nice to not be the only one that's not a werewolf, either."
"And if things get out of control, you guys are much stronger than her. Werewolves are stronger than the average vampire," Kate explained to us as she placed a hand on Bella's shoulder, giving it a squeeze.
"Does your family know what's going on?"
Kate rolled her eyes at the mention of her family. "Yeah… Tanya's not the happiest. It's a good thing that Tanya and your angry wolf pack aren't in the same room. It wouldn't be pretty."
"Sam, we should do it," Emily said as she spoke up finally and she smiled over at Kate. "Does the offer still stand of us living here?"
"Yeah, why not? You three seem like you'll be good to my Bella, especially you," Kate said as she looked into my direction.
"He's especially nice to Bella because he imprinted on her," Paul snickered as he walked into the kitchen.
