Gravity Won't Let Go

When the Cullens left Forks after the incident on Bella's birthday, she turned to Jacob, but a few months after that, Jacob also pushed away from her after imprinting on her. Due to Bella's nightmares coming back more and more, Charlie sent Bella to live with her mother in Jacksonville. Because of the imprint, Jacob would check on her to make sure she was safe. It's been two years since anyone's seen Bella. What happens when Jacob and Bella reunite?

"An Alpha?" she asked in complete shock as she looked over at me. "I never ever would have thought. Then again, I never imagined you'd be a werewolf, either. Is there anything else that you haven't told me?"

I sighed and I nodded my head at her. Oh, geez, I had to tell here. There was no reason for me not to.

"Yeah, when you were with your mother, I was there…"

Bella's eyes widened. "Wait, what?"

"Bella, when Leah wasn't around, I was there, but the reason I didn't make myself known was because of the imprint."

Shit, shit, shit! I was eternally doomed. I knew it. I couldn't even imagine what was going on in Bella's head. I had just told her that I had been watching her for years, along with the fact that I had imprinted on her. Although, she probably doesn't even know what an imprint is. I hadn't even told her what that meant and I was hoping that she would take the news of us bonded for life well.

"You were there?" Bella squeaked as she looked over at me with a frown. "But I never saw you."

"I know. I thought that it might be better that way," I sighed as I shoved my hands back into my pockets, feeling my heart pounding against my chest where a frown tugged at the corners of my lips. "I'm so sorry, Bella. The last thing I ever wanted to do was to hurt you."

"H-How did you watch me? Are you like those stalker people? Why didn't you approach me? I missed you so much, Jacob," she frowned.

I had to tell her. "If it wasn't for the imprint, I wouldn't have followed you."

"What's that? What's this imprint you keep telling me about?"

I moved to stand beside her when we stopped walking and I watched the waves crash against one another. "Well, you know how people claim the ones they meet are their soul mates?"

"Yes, what are you trying to tell me?"

I never knew how hard this could really be, but this was something that meant so much to me to tell her. "It's so much more than that, Bells. Only werewolves are able to imprint. Well, animals can, but this is a different sort of imprint."

"What do you mean?" she asked as she moved to step in front of me to stop me from looking at the waves crashing against each other. "Will you just spit it out, Jake?"

"When a werewolf imprints on someone, they become their mate for life. It's like everything shifts. It's like… when you see the one you're supposed to be with, she's the only thing that matters to you. Nothing else does," I explained to her as I looked down at the ground where I raked my hand into my hair.

"Are you saying that you imprinted on me?" she asked quietly as she looked at me.

"Yes, I did. The day I saw you when we had that huge fight outside my house is when I imprinted on you."

Everything was happening too fast. First, I find out that Edward's a vampire. Then, I find out that Jacob's a werewolf, and now, I find out that Jake and I are pretty much soul mates to one another? My father would be thrilled at the idea of me dating Jake.

"I don't understand one thing. If you knew I was with my mother, why didn't you ever approach me?" I mumbled under my breath as I looked into his eyes with a frown. "If I meant that much to you –"

"God, Bella, you mean more to me than you can ever know!" he exclaimed, throwing his hands up into the air, and he looked at me. "We had a huge fight and it didn't end well. I didn't think that you would ever want to see me, especially the things you told Leah about me."

I hated it that he was right, but I wished that he… wait, what the hell did he mean that I told Leah?

"Leah told you things?"

"No," he paused like he was looking for the right words and he looked down at the ground, circling around me like a prey. "When she would spend the night sometimes, I would be watching to make sure you were safe. When since I imprinted on you and I pushed you away, did you ever… feel a pain in your heart?"

How did he know about that pain? I frowned, deciding to argue, but I simply found myself nodding my head. "Yes."

"When a wolf imprints and they're apart when they're trying to fight the imprint, it hurts like hell," Jacob explained to me and I frowned. "It's why I stayed so close to you. I couldn't bear the pain I caused you, Bella. I would never intentionally hurt you. I'm not asking you to give into the imprint right away, but can you at least let me be around you just for now?"

I sighed, but he was right. The last thing either one of us needed was to be apart. Even though I didn't know what this meant for either one of us, I know that he wouldn't want me to be in pain. Hell, when he pushed me in mud when we were children around five and six years old, he instantly got worried because I had tripped, twisting my ankle. I was always clumsy, though.

"Okay," I hesitated as I looked over at him and I bit my lip. "I'm not agreeing to this imprint, but I have missed you… terribly. I guess it'll be a good thing that Leah and you live a couple houses apart from one another."

"So, when you would come to 'watch me', where would you be?" I asked curiously as I looked at him, sliding my arms around my chest, casting a look at him. "Were you human or… wolf?"

"Wolf… I was definitely wolf. Well, your mom's house was like right near the woods, and you guys didn't really have neighbors. I was usually right outside your window," he admitted with a sigh. "I had to make sure you were safe, especially with vampires on the loose. I would have loved to have been the one to spend the night, but we both know that your mother wouldn't have allowed that at all."

He was right. Renee would have had a fit at the idea of any boy spending the night. As crazy as she could be at times, that was something that either Charlie, Phil, nor her would have allowed at the time. I may have been legal, but it wouldn't have happened at all.

"So, this imprint… why me? I mean, how does one choose to be an imprint?"

"They don't."

I looked at him like he had two heads. "What do you mean? Don't you choose who you imprint on, Jake?"

Could anyone be anymore adorable than her like she was at this very moment? Even though I had imprinted, Bella should be fuming, but she wasn't. I guessed it was because she didn't want to lose me, but that would never ever happen if I had anything to say about that.

As we began to walk again, I couldn't help but smile. It could have gone a whole lot worse the more I thought about it. Bella could have run away until one of us died of heartache. Although, I would never allow that, and I had to keep myself in check whenever I was around her. I didn't want to hurt her ever. No, it would be so terrible.

"Imprinting basically chooses who we are supposed to be with, like the fates say we are supposed to be together. In better terms, it's our destiny," I said with a shrug of my shoulders as I looked at her with a sigh. "I have to say that I am kind of glad that you're the one I imprinted on. Who knew that my imprint would be my best friend?"

I could have sworn I saw her blushing. I was so glad that Bella was human. If she turned into a vampire, I honestly don't know what I would have done. Thank God those leeches were gone.

It had been a few days since I learned about his world. Leah was so ecstatic that I knew about her world because she hated hiding what she truly was, especially when she had made up so many excuses when she had to patrol. When she patrolled, Sam was there with her, and I swore I think she might have been excited from doing it with him. Was she warming up to him?

While Leah wasn't here at my house helping me pack like she told me she was going to, I was sitting on the floor folding up my laundry, placing them in one of the suitcases that Sue was lending me. Of course I would return it to her.

I lifted my head to see Quil, Embry and Jacob where I could see the nervousness on his face. Quil and Embry were like two annoying brothers I never wanted, but that I could never get rid of. Although, as annoying as the two were, they were pretty great to me because when Jacob was doing his Alpha male stuff, they were here to guard me.

"Oh, hey," I smiled as I looked at them. "Did you guys need something?"

Was it so bad that Jacob was getting more and more attractive to me? Those jeans did nothing to hide that marvelous ass of his and that shirt hugged his washboard abs like no other. Geez. I found myself blushing, and when Embry pointed, I glared at him.

"Oh, someone's touchy today." Embry snickered teasingly as he reached me, ruffling my hair, and I pulled him down, making him trip over one of my shoes, which sent him crashing into a nearby wall.

"Ha, dude, your imprint is a tough girl," Quil laughed as he watched Embry stand up, rubbing his leg that banged into the wall. "You better watch out. She'll kick your ass again if you touch her hair or even catch her about to blush."

"Anyway," I said as I felt another blush coming to my cheeks from total embarrassment. "I'm sorry, Embry. What are you guys doing here?"

"Leah had to take Emily to the airport since she's going to see her parents. She sent us here to help you pack," Jacob said as he knelt down in front of me, flashing me a smile. "And we thought that four hands would be better than one. What do you say?"

"One condition… Quil and Embry, stay away from my clothes," I grumbled as I saw the pout on Embry's face where Quil and Jacob started to laugh at Embry's disappointment.

A couple hours later, Bella and I were rearranging her things in the room that used to be Harry Clearwater's office that was huge. At first, Bella felt awkward, but Leah had reassured her that it was all right. I was watching Bella moved around the room where Quil, Embry, and me had moved most of her furniture how she wanted it. This was Bella's room and I felt so proud that she wouldn't be that far from me.

The more that I watched her, my heart fluttered, and I watched her put her lingerie and underwear away in the top drawer. She was so beautiful the more time I spent with her. I never wanted to be apart and I prayed that she would accept me as her imprint. Honestly, if she didn't, I didn't know what I would even do.

I looked at her when she looked at me. "Nothing, Bells."

"So, what did you want to do today, Jacob?"

I smirked at her. "Honestly… the only thing that I really want to do is to kiss you, Bella."
