Please read A B.A. in B.S. prior to reading this one...it will help you quite a bit. This is the second part of a three part series. Edward and Bella have grown quite a bit since he left...to the point they got back together AFTER Edward earned Bella back and then proposed. And he did all this after they talked to Charlie! So, here comes the bride, the groom, all the wedding fanfare, and many suprises inbetween. Oh...and lots of lemony goodness too. Again, some OCC, but you'll likey. Please bear with the first 10-11 chapters as they are a buildup to a kickass twist in chapter 12! Update 8/12/11 I've just added 3 new chapters and I hope you enjoy them. There's a bunch of fun stuff starting and on it's way!!I've also added some references from one of my fav UK shows into one of the chapters. I hope I described them well enough so you know which episodes I refer to. I am loving the reviews I am getting...but I do wish there were MORE! C'mon peoples-give me a few clicks of the mouse, a few keystrokes, and maybe about twenty seconds of your time...you know you want to!

23. Chapter 23

Rating 3/5   Word Count 1981   Review this Chapter

I opened my eyes and she was gone. They-they just took her. THEY FUCKING TOOK HER! My Bella…they took my Bella. She was attached to my lips and she was gone. I sunk down to my knees in the middle of the living room. I had nothing now, nothing. My wife, my life was gone. Her scent still lingered in the air…I could follow her trail! I thought I could follow her and grab her and get away-until her voice came into my head.

You promised me, Edward.

But I can’t just let them take you!

You have to. You promised me, Edward. You promised to take care of Charlie and Renee. Please, Edward. I love you and I know you will do the right thing.

“NO,” I growled aloud.

Emmett threw me onto the couch to stop me. “No you don’t, Bro.”

“Emmett, I can’t just let her go!”

“Edward! You don’t think that the rest of us want to go after her? You don’t think we want to go grab her and hide her away?”

“I know you do, but—“

“Edward, son,” started Esme, “we all feel the pain your loss-it’s our loss, too. You know we can’t go after her and you know why.”

“But what am I going to do,” I asked as my head fell into my hands.

“You are going to be strong for her and keep your promises to her,” she whispered as she put a finger under my chin to lift it up. “We all will. She was our Bella, too and it’s the least we can do. Please don’t run away from us again, Edward. My heart couldn’t take losing another child.”

I pursed my lips then spoke, “I’m not going anywhere, Mom. Like you said, I made her a promise. I just love her so much and I don’t know what I’m going to do without her,” I cried as she pulled my head into her lap. She pulled her hands through my hair and rocked me like she would an emotionally child-that’s what I was.

There was a huge bang on the front door. It smelled like wet dog. I sat up and walked solemnly to the door and opened it. Jake ragingly barreled through the door.

“What the HELL bloodsucker?”

“Jake,” Carlisle started, “you must understand we had no choice and we would have done anything to have prevented this. We loved her. She was our daughter, and our children’s sister, and Edward’s wife.” I didn’t remember Carlisle coming home, but I could smell death on him.

I stood across the room from Jake and spoke quietly, “Jake, I will never be able to forgive myself for what has happened. I know Carlisle gave the Pack the basics of the situation, but had we attempted to stop them-at least in the way I wanted to, Renee and Charlie would have been kidnapped and tortured. Eventually they would have been turned and released and in the end Bella would have been killed by one of her parents.

No matter what choice we made, we lost. Either we died along side her, some of died with her…she made us promise. She didn’t want your existence to be known, she didn’t want her parents to be hurt and she didn’t want us to die. There was only one vision, one choice in which that happened. Once she found that out…well you know Bella. She was going to make it happen no matter what.”

He laid his back against a wall and slumped down to the floor. “Of course, she sacrificed her life for us-all of us. How could you let her do it, Cullen?” It was said in more of a plea than in anger.

“I had no choice. Either she went willingly tonight or she’d fly there day-after-tomorrow on her own after Charlie had been taken or we had been killed-depending on the choices we made.”

“What about Charlie? What do we tell him? What do we do?”

“I’m going to have an accident tonight on the way back from Port Angeles. Bella and I were having a date at the place we had our first date. The car is going to crash into a rock wall on the passenger said. We’re going to say it was a hit and run.”

“What about her-“

“Carlisle found out that a homeless girl died on the streets of Seattle and was brought to Seattle Grace Hospital. She has the same build as Bella as well as similar hair color. We only have to worry about Charlie seeing her for a few seconds when he decides he wants to ID her body. The girl is disfigured, which will play into the scenario of the horrendous accident. Carlisle will be there at his side.”

“So he’ll accept the story.”

“What about you? You can’t have injuries.”

“But I will. Carlisle’s going to put one of my arms in a sling and my wrist in a brace. I’ll also have a boot on my left leg due to a hairline fracture from the impact. There will be glass from window on the driver’s side on the road to make it plausible. Due to the impact on her side, I’ll fly through the window onto the other side of the road in the grass.”

“What about that girl’s family?”

“We have a contact,” started Jasper, “that will allow us to find who her family is. They will be well taken care of.”

“Will they ever find out their daughter is dead?”

“We’ll find a way to make it understood.”

“So, that’s going to be the public story?”

“And no one will ever find that car that found the accident, will they.”

“It’s night and I didn’t get a good look.”

Jake scoffed.

“It’s going to devastate him and Renee isn’t it.”

“What do you think?”

Silence filled the room.

There was loud howling outside our home and Jake spoke up, “I should go tell them. Shit, we broke the treaty!”

“No,” Carlisle began, “you didn’t. Not by our standards.”

“But we came on your land.”

“You had our permission, Jacob. Please, don’t worry yourself with such non-essential concerns right now.”

“Thank You, Carlisle.”

“Your brethren have no desire to harm my family, do they?”

“No. I know you did what you could. If anyone makes a move to harm you or your family, there will be a change in pack management.”

Carlisle nodded as Jake stood up. They shook hands and he walked out the door.

Carlisle didn’t have to face me for me to understand what next; even without being able to read his thoughts, I would have known. It was time for the accident. It had to be done. As much as it pained us all, we had to stage the accident and death of my wife.

We knew how it had to happen and Carlisle and I could have taken care of it, but the whole family accompanied us to the accident site. I drove the Volvo alone while the rest of the family divided between Carlisle’s Mercedes and Emmett’s Jeep.

Before we left, Carlisle made sure that Bella’s decoy was secured in his trunk and Alice grabbed some of Bella’s clothes and accessories. Carlisle had asked that she not be cleaned up while in the morgue and had somehow persuaded the hospital to agree. He had also purchased some pig’s blood to be added to the scene. Through our depression and sorrow we knew the blood would have no affect on us.

We picked a part of the highway that curved around a rock wall and had a steep hill on the opposite side. It was part of the plan to tell Charlie that we were lucky to have not gone over the hill. Faux Bella was positioned into the passenger seat beside me and I wanted to throw her out. That was not her place; next to me. Alice fastened her seatbelt and shut the passenger door.

Emmett stood in front of my car about half a mile away. I revved my engine and sped forward at fifty miles-per-hour. He was able to clip the passenger side bumper and cause me to do a one-eighty leaving skidmarks on the asphalt. I crashed into the wall causing that side of the car to be absolutely mangled.

I pushed myself, head first, through my window causing the glass to shatter on the road in the car. While Jasper and Carlisle strategically placed blood on Faux Bella, inside the car, and on the part of the wall that was now in the car, I just fell onto the ground on the grassy side of the road on the hill. It was better to have the grass flattened there anyway.

My family was going to “find us hours later” then call for an ambulance. Alice told us that no one would be on that portion of the highway for hours until officers came to take pictures and inventory the scene. The story was that they thought we might have gotten a hotel in Port Angeles when we didn’t show up around midnight. When they called both of our cell phones, which they had been and were going to continue doing, they started to call hotels. When none of the hotels in Port Angeles had a reservation for us, they were going to drive up. They were going to claim they didn’t want to alarm Charlie and that’s the reason they didn’t call him.

This would make it about three a.m. when they found us. It would account for the cold temperature of Faux Bella’s body. We knew the exact science behind how quickly a human body cools, but it’s not something that Charlie would catch on to and he was not going to order an autopsy either. Carlisle would be able to wake me and give me a thorough exam to determine I just had some broken and fractured bones.

Charlie would get a call at about seventeen after three from a distraught Carlisle and Esme telling him a bad accident had happened and he needed to get to the hospital. Carlisle would know immediately that Bella was dead and would officially pronounce Bella at the hospital. Carlisle would show up to the hospital and would find where Carlisle had put on the sling, brace, and would be finishing placing the boot on my foot. He had obtained fake films of broken and fractured limbs for my file.

And that’s how we would arrange the death of my wife:

-Our car would be hit in a hit in run and clipped well enough to cause a crash into a rock wall

-Her side would be totaled and she died instantly

-I was thrown out of the car upon impact and had broken bones

-Carlisle and Esme got worried when we didn’t come home around midnight

-After continually calling our phones and not getting a response, they called hotels

-When the hotels had no reservation for us, around two-thirty, they came looking for us

-They found us about three a.m.

-Carlisle knew immediately that Bella was dead

-They found me on the hill and were able to wake me

-Carlisle would put both of us into the car and drive to the hospital

-On the way, they would call Charlie and tell him to meet him at the hospital

-Charlie would show up and find out that his daughter was dead and I was alive

It was a simple plan, uncomplicated and easy enough to understand. It was believable. Charlie would believe that his daughter died due to injuries during an accident and not because she was in love with me, a vampire. She died because I loved her and brought her into my world.

I killed her. I killed my Bella.
